I’m not sure what I did to get so lucky, to have a version that has continued to work without issue, over this many years. Curious if anyone else is still rocking AB?
iOS 18 beta - posts are loading again! This is after AB was broken in a handful of the later iOS 17 versions.
Long live the King!!!
I found my parents old phone (mostly my dad's) and I found alien blue on it, I'm assuming it has something to due with reddit because of it's icon but if someone has a quick break down of it I'll greatly appreciate it
Title says it all
Hi, I would like to know if there is a way of getting alien blue on iOS 16.7.4 without jailbreak and it’s not on my purchases so what can I do?
Is it me, my phone (iPhone 14+ iOS 17.4), or Reddit playing silly API games once again?
Hello, so I am getting an iPhone 4 that has iOS 5.1.1 on it, and I was wondering if anyone has an .ipa file of Alien Blue for iOS 5 that works. Please no hate, thank you!
I mean sometimes the app freezes, but otherwise no complaints. And not a single ad!
Hello!
Since about 2 days Alienblue cannot seem to log into Reddit anymore. While I can still browse my favorite subreddits ( /r/HFY and /r/nosleep ) just fine, it's impossible to log in browse my saved posts, which is an issue when you're reading stories with nearly a 1000 chapters :)
I tried the regular reddit app, which thanks to PiHole was free of advertisements, but just scrolling down to the chapter I'd want to read took the better part of 20 minutes.
The error itself is along the lines of 'Log in failed, check your username/password' and a bit about reddit authentication servers may be overloaded at this time.
I've had issues in the past where if I used reddit on my PC during the day and alienblue at night, they'd see it as suspicious activity and block my account until I jumped through all their hoops and reset my password. This happened about once every 6 months, sometimes as many as once a month.
Trying to preview videos and gifs either crashes or doesn't work and now trying to sort any subreddit also crashes the app. I can see the pearly gates already 😭😭
Today Narwhal updated automatically and refuses to work without a subscription.
On a whim, I tried Alien Blue on my iPad. Hadn’t used it in years, since it doesn’t support the next screen sizes of the iPad Pro 11, I’m using.
Not only does Alien Blue still work, it’s such a joy to use! I had forgotten what a nicely polished app it was.
I will never subscribe to Reddit or use the official garbage app. Once old.reddit.com dies, I won’t be back.
Is this part of the Reddit API shutdown? My old iPhone 8 Plus had Alien Blue working fine after the API shutdown. I figured it kept working because Reddit themselves owned Alien Blue.
But now with my new iPhone 15 Pro Max, I try to sign into Alien Blue, and I just get errors. Is anyone else with a new phone having the same issues? Is this the end of Alien Blue for me? Time to find a new Reddit app?

I found my iphone 5 with ios 6.1.2 and i want to download alien blue through ipa file
I had to change an old Apple password. I had to dig my original iPad out of a drawer. Got the password changed, updated Alien Blue, started it and here I am. iOS 9.
I switched to iOS 17 public beta and was surprised to find out that it made Alien Blue somewhat more stable and usable overall. AB can now play all kinds of media links including NSFW videos. iOS 17 will autoplay whatever is in the embedded safari view so the warnings and bullshits get automatically bypassed.
It’s still a bit janky though. Sometimes the video will autoplay twice at the same time. But it’s very minor inconvenience.
Written on Alien Blue.
I thought it was shutting down?
I'm trying to not draw too much attention to this, but I am unable to log in. I get
Authentication Failed: Unable to
retrieve your account details (Expected
status code in (200-299), got 403)
[403]
as the error message. Both case sensitive and non-case sensitive logins receive this.
I'm not a fan of what they did, so I figure this is the best way for them to really get the message.
Didn’t Spez mention Free APIs that “Free Data API
Effective July 1, 2023, the rate limits to use the Data API free of charge are:
100 queries per minute per OAuth client id if you are using OAuth authentication and 10 queries per minute if you are not using OAuth authentication. Today, over 90% of apps fall into this category and can continue to access the Data API for free.”
Do we fit that profile in terms of queries?
I’m currently still logged in too! I believe it just works like a Reddit viewer these days though, as I don’t see any options to make posts. The iPod is the base model (8 gigabyte). Jailbroken on iOS 6.1.6, obviously… or else it would be solely an MP3 player and nothing else (because you can’t get apps anymore without jailbreak anyways)
Today it said I was logged out. That has never happened. Can’t view messages. I can feel the emptiness.
Even on my latest devices I just can’t bring myself to let it go. With the Reddit API changes coming soon, I unfortunately think our time is coming to a close, but it’s been a good run to all of us that stuck around til the end
