Anyone get touchpad working with Windows 10 32 bit on unsupported mac?

I just installed Windows 10 32 bit on an old Macbook air. Chose 32 bit because I only have 2 GB ram on this machine. It appears most everything is working except for right click on the touchpad. I believe I am stuck with Boot camp 4 drivers because 5 is 64 bit. Has anyone gotten this to work? Thanks in advance.

[GUIDE] Install Windows Vista on (older?) Macs

Hey guys,

In the last few days, I struggled to install Windows Vista on my old MacBook Pro 2009 without BootCamp. I have multiple different OS X partitions on my Mac, which is why I can’t use BootCamp. After hours of trying, I finally found a way to do it.

What you need:

  • A USB drive (at least 8GB, maybe 4 is enough but idk)

  • A Windows computer

  • NTLite NTLite Download

  • Rufus Rufus Download

  • A FAT partition on your Mac where Vista will be installed

  • BootCamp Drivers for your Mac Model (Most Drivers for newer Windows versions also work on Vista)

The Process:

  1. On your Windows machine, download a Vista ISO from Archive.org (or any other site you prefer).
  2. Open NTLite on your Windows machine.
  3. Load the Vista ISO in NTLite, then select your preferred edition (this step is important because the installer only boots when you do this).
  4. Go to the “Apply” tab and create the ISO.
  5. Open Rufus and copy the ISO to your USB stick.
  6. When the USB stick is ready, plug it into your Mac and boot from it by holding the “Alt” key.
  7. Click through the installation steps, and in the Hard Drive selection window, select your previously created FAT partition, format it, then hit install. (CAUTION: double check if you have the right partition so you don’t delete OS X)
  8. Complete the rest of the setup.
  9. When you finished the setup, install your BootCamp Drivers (from an USB Stick). There is a highly chance that you can’t run the setup.exe, if that’s the case just go to the drivers folder inside the BootCamp folder and install the drivers one by one.
  10. Enjoy!

Additional:

  • If you’re having trouble booting the installer or the system, try using ReFit.
  • When you’re missing some drivers, download Snappy Driver Installer (Lite), then open SDI and select „Indexes only“, after that select the drivers you want to install.

If you have any questions, leave me a comment and I try my best to help you :)

Bootcamp driver

Well, I took the plunge and started the mission to install a driver to make my touchbar work on a MacBook using Bootcamp with Windows 10. There’s a guide on GitHub compiling an application with Visual Studio and a specific driver. The problem is that when I finally found the “Apple Touchbar” device in Device Manager, I tried to delete it to reinstall it, but it got removed and now it doesn’t show up anymore. Is there any solution without having to reinstall Bootcamp entirely? I don’t want to reinstall Bootcamp because I already have all the drivers set up properly, as good as they can be.

I hope my problem is clear. Best regards.

Compatibility question

So i saw a video of someone installing windows 11 on a Mac using bootcamp. But they tried it on a 2010 MacBook and it failed bcs windows was in a constant boot loop. I'm scared to do it on my late 2013 iMac bcs it might be caught in a bootloop. Is there anyone who knows if the windows 11 through boot camp works and a late 2013 iMac?

Windows boots do black screen and reboots…. HELP

So, firstly I am not using Bootcamp so this probably isn’t the right thread for this, but my case is specialized and I need help, so I am hoping someone on here has some crossover knowledge to help me.

So, I installed Windows 11 on my iMac 2014 a few months back using Bombardier to get the appropriate drivers for Wi-Fi, etc,. I did this directly onto the main drive after erasing macOS. So I am not using BootCamp.

Last night, I booted up the iMac to MacOS Internet recovery, which is the closest to any level of macOS being on this Mac since I installed windows, and now when I boot it up, it won’t boot windows. It only goes to a black grey screen and loops. If I hold option, I can verify there is a windows partition and if I boot to it, same grey screen.

In Internet recovery, I can see my internal ssd formatted as NTFS with windows 11 on it, but it’s not mounted.

I booted into a windows installer usb and I can see in disk part that my main C drive is fine and mounted there.

. I’m thinking I might just need to reinstall Windows 11. Do you know if this will wipe my info too? That wouldn’t be out of the question as many of my files are backed up, however, I want that to be a last resort as some stuff isn’t backed up.

Any help would be most appreciated..

Thx,

-M

Windows 7 asking for drivers?

https://preview.redd.it/omvx5yi48ctd1.jpg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=799a28a469b372d8ab9aa4f052e8150267172426

I'm installing Windows 7 on my Macbook Pro (Early 2011), and I'm having issues. It's asking for drivers during the install, and won't let me proceed without them? I tried plugging in my USB I installed the Bootcamp drivers to previously but it said no drivers were found there, even after unchecking "Hide incompatible drivers".

I will note that I'm not using a stock setup, instead I've temporarily replaced the optical drive with a spare one I had for a different computer, as my superdrive doesn't work.

I'm not sure what else to try, I'm just looking for answers to help solve this issue

2020 iMac 27 always running loud fan under Windows

So i have this wonderful machine running the i7, 64gb ram (crucial) and the radeon pro 5700. I have bootcamp and windows 10 installed for some time now. All Apple Drivers are up to date. I locked the maximum processor usage to 99% under system energy settings to prevent the machine from running in turbo boost all the time. AND Still... this machines fan is rising easy by only light tasks. I can't even play old Strategy Games like Stronghold on low settings without the fan getting annoyingly loud. Why is this machine so loud all the time and why is there only a 21.xx driver from 2023 for this gpu when we have 2024 and 22.xx available for most amd chips now. I am annoyed by this systems thermal design. It is so loud all the time. Has anyone found a solution to maybe thermal limit the gpu better or cpu? This machine has very powerful hardware but it is not usable and i can't even play the most simple games because the fan is going mad all the time. Under Mac OS it is similar btw but it works a bit better when you disable Turbo boost (Turbo Boost Switcher) it is not getting loud all the time and runs way cooler. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!

Bootcamp on MBP Late 2011 15" with busted GPU?

Been trying to setup bootcamp on my old MBP Late 2011 15" with busted GPU for couple of days and has no luck in making it work. I get to install Windows 10 but as soon as the damn GPU drivers get installed, it stops working and goes to a reboot after black screen. I tried installing intel graphic drivers before bootcamp drivers or windows update and same sh*t happens.

Has anyone here had experience running bootcamp with the same setup?

C# Bootcamp

Hi guys, i am trying to find the best option for my friend. i myself went to tech elevator, however they stopped teaching c# and their ui is still taught with vue js. I am trying to find my friend a good option with c#, and react or angular js, or maybe something with jquery.

He would be coming to work at my company after the bootcamp where he will either be on a dotnet framework and jquery team or a dotnet core and react team.

Tech elevator is not an option at this point, i was thinking grand circus since they have angular and c# plus java.

What would you guys recommend?

Accidentally Deleted MacOS Partition, Recovery Mode Not Working

So I wanted to increase the size of my Windows partition because I was running out of space and I use that a lot more than I do MacOS these days, so I found a tutorial that showed how to do that. It seemed very straightforward: you had to create a new partition in Disk Utility on the Mac, and then switch to Window, open a program called Minitool Partition Wizard, delete the new partition, and add the now-unused space to the Bootcamp partition.

However, when I got to this step, none of the partitions were labeled as being the same size or format as they were displayed in Disk Utility, and I mistakenly deleted and absorbed the MacOS partition instead of the new partition. I had fortunately backed up everything important from both Mac and Windows, so this wasn't a huge problem for me- I would just have to reinstall MacOS on the other partition and have a little less storage than I planned there and a little more on Windows.

The problem is, when I go to Recovery mode to try to fix it, nothing happens. I can select a WiFi network, but after I type in the password, it thinks for a few seconds and takes me back to the network list. I've used both Cmd+R and Opt+Cmd+R and both have the same effect.

I can live without MacOS for now, but I would like to have it back eventually. Has anyone ever had this happen before, and what should I do to fix it?

Bootcamp connecting to USB4/TB3 SSD Enclosure?

Hi All,

I'm running Bootcamp on a 2020 MacBook Pro 13".

Since I'm running out of storage space, I bought a M2 NVMe SSD and USB4/TB3 40Gbps Enclosure. My intention is to move most of my data to the M2 SSD but still boot from my Apple system SSD.

The enclosure is USB4/TB3/TB4? compatible using the ASM2464PD chipset. My understanding is that I could connect to the M2 SSD via Apple's TB3 on Bootcamp running 40Gbps max speed.

After I got the SSD and Enclosure, it works great and very fast when it's working. Here are the problems I'm noticing (both are huge).

  1. Bootcamp TB3 doesn't seem to be hot pluggable? I could get the drive to reconnect *sometimes*. But most of time it would connect the first time, that's it. It would take a reboot to reconnect to the drive again.

  2. Once I have connected to the drive (and either keep it connected or disconnected afterwards), then if the computer goes to sleep. It will not wake up correctly. Usually, it will reboot when trying to wake up.

Anyone else here that might be trying to do something similar here?

Thanks!

Max bootcamp storage?

I have a MacBook Pro 15” 2016 16gb RAM 512gb Memory.

I tried to use bootcamp a bunch of times but it appears that there’s like a “max storage” of bootcamp. When I partition the disk I can’t go over 125gb of storage for windows, or a message appears saying that I the disk partitioning process failed, even though I have plenty of free space on the Mac /:

125gb is not enough for me unfortunately..

Can you help me??

I’m desperate…

Thank you so much!

Boot camp on my Mac? :/

So I have an. Old MacBook Pro 17inch Mid-2010, and a MacBook Pro 16 inch.

I’m trying to run windows 7 on my 2010 Mac, but since it’s not supported anymore I think I’m s.o.l.

I don’t think bootcamp will be able to run on my other MacBook but I haven’t tried yet.

All I want bootcamp for is to run certain windows .exe programs.

I’ve been at this whole bootcamp thing for the past 2 weeks, I feel like my only solution is to either build my own PC or buy a cheap laptop.

Bluetooth (and possibly other hardware) not working on Macbook Air 8,2 with Windows 11

I recently formatted the whole machine because macos started to feel very choppy and it couldn't do anything more than Notes without touching 90+°C. Now with windows it feels way better but other than some Bootcamp issues with the keyboard backlight that I recently fixed I can't seem to get Bluetooth working.
I downloaded the drivers first with the bootcamp utility before removing macos completely and just now downloaded them again with brigadier but no driver fixes the issue.

This are the unrecognized devices (sorry the screen is in Italian)

This is the error screen I get when trying to install some drivers (still in Italian sorry)

Any solution or suggestions?

Let’s connect you to a network

I am installing Windows 10 on my MacBook Pro via Bootcamp.

The problem is I am stuck at the “Let’s connect you to a network” screen. All the advice online says to access the command screen and type a command, or use the function keys. My problem is I cannot access the command screen or use the function keys because I have a Touchbar, which is blank. Is there a way to get past this screen?

My wifi is functional, just not showing up. I have restarted my modem.

I have tried to restart my computer and it just goes right back to this screen.

The only options are “next”, which is greyed out. There is no “skip this step” option.

Black screen

I recently installed windows 10 using an official Microsoft ISO on my late 2015 iMac. I use boot camp assistant and everything seems to go smoothly, until the Mac actually restarts. It boots with the apple logo for a few seconds, then goes completely black. It’s for sure not a brightness issue, and I’ve tried this about 5 times. I also let it sit on that screen for eight hours and absolutely nothing came of it. It shows up in disk utility but it says it’s unbootable. Am I doing something wrong?

Automate the un-mounting of drives in Windows 10?

I have an Apple Mac Pro with a bunch of internal drives. In macOS, I created a script using the Automator app to un-mount the drives I don’t need immediately when it boots up. Is there a way to do this in Windows 10?

Horrible gaming (Counter Strike 2) performance on Bootcamp

I've recently purchsed a second hand late 2019 16" Macbook Pro, with the Core i9, 32GB of RAM an the Radeon Pro 5500m 4GB. It's been a fantastic machine for the use I had intended, running Bootcamp great, even updated to Windows 11, and since CS2 is pretty much the only game I play, I decided I would give it a try. Oh boy what a frustrating experience.

At first the game would freeze at launch, taking forever, and when it finally did it was all glitchy. Solved the launching issues with the -nojoy command.

Now it runs, but it's awful. I set it to 1280x800 resolution, low settings, and it runs windowed at literally 10 fps. I know it is using the dedicated graphics card, because it shows VRAM and GPU usage on the AMD software and task manager on Windows, but it's not even pushing to 100%, not throttling, and almost no CPU usage.

I am using the 22.11.2 Adrenalin Edition AMD software, the red edition downloaded from bcd.com.

Someone on the macgaming sub suggested that this performance was expected due to the bad single thread processing power of the CPU, but I don't really agree with that.

I am aware that single core performance on that CPU is not the best, but I currently play CS2 on 2 computers:

-i7 9700k with RTX 2060, averaging 200fps on 1080p high settings
-i7 7700 with GTX 1660s averaging 120 fps on 1080p mid-high settings

Single core performance on the 9700k is a tad better than the i9 on the MacBook, single core performance on the 7700 is the same or worse on every synthetic benchmark.

I don't really think that's the issue here. 10fps is f*cked up. Even the weapon display is laggy lol.

Any tip for me? Great community, TIA!

UPDATE: SOLVED! After experimenting for the last couple of days, I found out that the GPU was set to ultra power-saving mode under the hidden settings of the power plan, even when connected to AC, and that was causing the terrible performance. I made a new power plan, disabled turbo boost and set the GPU behaviour to max performance. I also installed MacFans and set it to max while gaming, so now the CPU and GPU temperatures stay below 75°C.
Now, CS2 runs fine—not the best, but as expected for this GPU, and very playable.

Thank you all for your help!!

Trouble installing Windows 7 on Macbook Pro 2011

I've got a 13" Macbook Pro from late 2011, running High Sierra, and I'm looking to install Windows 7 on it. The optical drive does not work on it, so I began to follow this guide but using a Windows 7 .iso instead

https://gist.github.com/oznu/8796d08d73315483c3b26e79a8e3d350?permalink_comment_id=3572097

I got to the part that you modify bootcamp, but couldn't find "DARequiredROMVersions" in Info.plist, but I shrugged it off and continued

I followed the guide completely until I reached the part where you boot from USB, and my Windows 7 installer USB doesn't show up. Anyone know how to help?

(For the record, I want Windows 7 because the audio drivers work properly there. I'm doing this on a Pro 2011 because it's still a good laptop in my opinion)

MacBook Pro 2015 Randomly Shuts Down on Windows

hey everyone

I'm running macOS and Windows on my MacBook Pro 2015, and I've been experiencing a frustrating issue: the laptop randomly shuts down without warning when using Windows.

Here's what I've tried:

  • Installing Tiny11: Switched to a lightweight Windows 11 version (i had win10)
  • Disabling Sleep/Hibernation: Turned off power-saving options.
  • Resetting PRAM: Tried this common troubleshooting step.

The problem persists i can also trigger it when I open a specific program (Factory IO) in full-screen mode

also, I'm running my MacBook only on the charger the battery is dead

and sometimes i notice the "locking" screen for a split second before it shuts down

Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated!
