2019 16” MBP Battery issues

Hey all, I’ve had this MBP for a little over a year now, and have been using bootcamp for windows for a little less than that, mainly use it to play Rocket League.

Ive noticed that when in macOS, battery charges as normal, but while in windows (even with nothing running), it takes AT LEAST double the amount of time to charge it. And if I have RL running, it won’t charge at all, just sits at the percentage it was at when the game started.

Im using a 61W power adapter with a charging cable that supports up to 240W. Could the power adapter be the issue, or the fact it’s using the dedicated graphics vs discrete graphics, or is this just “normal” for this machine?

Sorry if there isn’t enough information, feel free to ask more questions and I’d be glad to tell you what I can (I’m not familiar with windows though so I may not know what to look for or where to look)

Is Mac Mini 2018 + eGPU a good setup for Windows+Mac

I'm thinking of getting a new computer and although the new M1/M2 machines seem nice, I'm considering a Mac Mini Intel 2018 with Mojave since my 2018 MBP's performance already seems good enough, and it also allows me the possibility to install Windows 11 with Bootcamp, which means I can use one machine for two OS's. The alternative I guess would be to get an M2 Mac Mini and a separate Windows-dedicated machine.

Here are my pros and cons:

Mac Mini Intel Pros:

  • Runs 32-bit apps (I have a couple)

  • Can run Windows and seems like it could be a solid Windows machine

  • Can share eGPU with Windows (I know it's a bit complicated but I've seen guides stating it can be done)

  • Can have lots of RAM, up to 64 or 128gb (16gb max on M2 Mac Mini). I use a lot of RAM typically, very ADD.

  • Single hardware connections for servicing each OS (screen, audio interface, USB dock).

Mac Mini Intel Cons:

  • GPU setup with Windows seems a little complicated
  • Stuck on old macOS
  • Deprived of absolute top performance from M series chips
  • Have to restart machine to switch OS

Separate machines for windows and Mac pros:

  • Latest hardware built for specific OS's
  • Potentially much better performance on macOS side
  • Faster to switch between OS's

Separate machines for windows and Mac cons:

  • Can't run 32-bit or older apps
  • Have to physically reconnect hardware when switching OS
  • More money

To me it seems like a refurbished Mac Mini 2018 could be a very solid windows machine for the price, in addition to running macOS, which is why I'm strongly considering it. But I'm not totally sold. What do others think?

Installed Windows on an external drive now I have a 2nd UEFI broken Windows boot drive.

I got an external SSD, loaded windows on it and bootcamp for all the drivers.
However, I seem to have 3 boot options (when the external SSD is connected.)
UEFI - Windows (Broekn boot drive, has same logo as MacHDD boot, is always there, even when SSD is NOT connected.)
Mac HHD - MacOS
UEFI - Windows (Has yellow icon, this is the boot option that works)

This wouldn't normally be an issue, however, it seems that my Mac seems to prefer the broken windows boot.
Additionally, I can't seem to boot my Mac without either the SSD being plugged in or the power cable. I.e, if the external SSD is connected, I do not need to plug my laptop into power. When the SSD is not connected I need to have the laptop plugged in, power on, hold option, select MacHDD as the boot drive and only then do I boot into MacOS.

BSOD

I downloaded windows 10 on my iMac (21.5in) using bootcamp. I was installing an audio driver in files in which then it went into a bsod loop. It seems that no matter what I do it keeps giving me this stop code and what failed. Is there a solution to this?

Can't use external monitor with Windows 10 Bootcamp

Hello all. I'm having some troubles with running Windows 10 Bootcamp on my 2018 MacBook Pro (A1990).

My display is broken, so I use an external monitor to see everything, using a USB-C to HDMI. Throughout the installation of Windows, I haven't been able to see anything on my monitor. The Windows 10 logo will come on but it goes black after that.

At first, I got past this by using Parallels to complete the installation. So the OS is completely installed now and works fine when using Bootcamp via Parallels.

Where the problem comes for me is when I actually boot into the Windows partition, the screen still goes black after the logo flashes.

I've tried so many things. I downloaded and installed the drivers from the Bootcamp Assistant and I've even opened up the lower case and unplugged the main display cable to force the Mac to use the external monitor. I also tried a different adapter. (for reference, I used a USB-C to HDMI, then a USB-C hub with a HDMI port)

I've looked up if the brand of my adapters have Windows drivers, and from what I saw, they don't need any.

I feel like I'm missing something very simple. Any ideas?

In bootcamp, windows 10 said cannot upgrade to windows 11 because of no TPM. How to fix it?

Hello bootcamp masters, I am using windows 10 via a bootcamp in an iMac Pro 18-core intel. Do you know how to upgrade from win 10 to win 11 seamlessly by itself, not by installing via bootcamp installer? Wins 10 said no TPM found. Any bootcamp masters can help? Really appreciate your help or any related information.🙏

Broken Display Running Bootcamp?

I recently found my old 2016-2017 Mac, the one with the flexgate issues, and I tried running boot camp on it, however it doesn't work. Everything goes smoothly until the last step in Bootcamp where the computer restarts.

When it restarts, I've tried holding option to open the boot menu, and clicking Windows (all in clamshell mode) however upon clicking the Windows partition, the Windows logo flashes before the computer completely goes black.

I'm wondering if there's a work around of some sort, or if my computer is just bricked from running Windows now.

Old Assassin's creed games doesn't run on bootcamp

Hello guys.

As a fan of this series, I tried to install AC 3, but it wasn't launching, black screen for a few seconds and again home screen. I tried to install AC Rogue - after ubisoft and AC logo animations - black screen and only ALT+F4 helps. Any suggestions? Please tell what info do you need, I'll provide. I am talking about cracked versions, but I don't think it's the reason, cuz I tried with different cracks and repacks on original image - same issue. And I know the crack is ok, cuz I've already had installed same AC 3 crack on Crossover from macOS and on my very old PC with GeForce 9500GT 512mb)

Right now I have Metro Exodus and Modern Warships installed, they are running with no issues.
Device - MacBook Pro 16 2019 I7 Radeon Pro 5300 4GB Windows 10 Pro 22H2
Graphic drivers are updated with AMD original app

Hey guys. 2 years ago I installed windows 10 with bootcamp, never had intentions to go back to macOS so i deleted the partition. Now I NEED to go back, but since I deleted the partition I can't do nothing about it. Is there any possible way to go back to mac knowing that i deleted the partition? BTW I'm using a late 2013 iMac 21.5

Your disk could not be partitioned

Whenever I try to install windows on my MacBook Pro 2019, my computer freezes as the progress bar enters the 1/3 point, and then after a minute or two, I get this:

I have already tried to run first aid but nothing happened. Any Help?

MBP 2016 running Windows 10 (bootcamp) shuts off in sleep or hibernate

I have a Macbook Pro 2016 15-inch touchbar that is running a fresh install of Windows 10 via bootcamp with all drivers installed via the bootcamp software. Everything works great, except the fact that when the computer is asleep or in hibernation for a while, it seems to crash and shut off, and I see when turning it back on that all my programs/tabs are closed, and the OS reports that Windows had not been properly shut down. I have searched all over online for any records of anyone else having this issue and I have come up blank. Fast-startup is disabled, and the funny thing is that everything is fine when I wake the computer up within a short period of time after sleep or hibernate, but after leaving it for maybe 15 minutes or more the problem can arise; however it seems to be inconsistent, and hibernate seems to be a bit more reliable. Any help would be appreciated.

Locked out of both partitions

So long story short, I’m locked out of my Mac due to the firmware password. I remember seeing it a few days ago, but I don’t remember setting it, and it’s none of the passwords I normally use. I went to the Apple certified Store and they can’t unlock due to no receipts because I paid in cash… furthermore, I’m stuck in the recovery loop in windows, so I can’t even access that and get stuck on the blue logo screen. So am I screwed or am I screwed? Edit: I got the receipt but the store wouldn’t be able to do it and the closet Apple Store is hours away

I am using official amd bootcamp drivers.

What could be the issue?

After research, i found out that i should restart my mac then hold the option key. It should show a mac startup volume, but it hasn’t showed to me. Instead, I got this lock symbol and a loading icon. What did i do wrong and how do i fix it?
