[no-politics] UnAustralian Monday 03/Feb/2025

This sub and regular participants here are regularly labelled as un-Australian; let's find out how un-Australian!

You don't like Vegemite? You'd rather eat a vegetable pie or dog-food than a Bunnings sausages? Don't know what a Chiko Roll is? Drink your own piss rather than VB or XXXX? Don't think it's fun to shit-can everyone around you? Don't know who won the sportsball competitions on the weekend? Can't change a tyre? Perhaps you ride a bike to work? Or you simply hate memes?

How else have you failed to conform? Let us know how un-Australian you are!

Driving from Adelaide to Melbourne

Just wondering if anyone knows what the road is like coming from Adelaide to Melbourne. Obviously the fires in the Grampians are pretty bad so I'm considering going through Mount Gambier rather than Horsham. Does anyone have any advice on this? Cheers

Best stops between Brisbane and Canberra

I’ll be taking a solo road trip down to Canberra to visit a friend in just over a month - heading from Brisbane - and looking for the best place to stop either as a one night stopover or taking two nights.

No preference on coast or inland roads - I’ve done both to Sydney and beyond many times but with another driver - this will be my first drive south on my own. I’ve done the solo trip to Cairns previously a few times - and I’m travelling in a much nicer vehicle this time - so not a stranger to long solo road trips.

I was thinking either Taree or Dubbo. I don’t plan to drive during the night, and I’m self-sufficient.

If anyone has any recommendations for nicer stopovers, good spots to pull over and rest for the night, excellent cafes and bakeries etc on the way, I would be most appreciative 😊

As an aside - is Canberra to Geelong doable in a days drive? My ultimate destination is the ferry to Tassie - should I do that trip in two stops or is one early, long day enough?

Thanks in advance for the tips and advice 😊

This was accepted at work, is it still okay to use?

Will the bank still accept it like this or should it be thrown out?

People who have been to a private mental health facility in Australia for depression, did you find you improved after?

My Father is voluntarily admitting himself and I think it's the right thing to do, but I'm nervous that inpatient will achieve much after a year of outpatient treatment that hasn't been very effective. Fortunately we got the insurance upgrade and waiver and can go private. Does anyone have any experience on what you were like on the other end?

Inside Australia's toughest boys school: does traditional discipline work? | 60 Minutes Australia

Thoughts on this school and teaching style? This is a fluff piece from 60 minutes and it only really shows this school of as opposed to exploring this style.

My opinion is the school and the teaching seems great, but the question is how to scale it to more kids across Victoria or Australia. There are more troubled kids that this program can’t cater to girls, poor families etc, so what are the alternate solutions?
