/r/Texas Rules:
1. Be Friendly: Personal attacks on your fellow Reddit users are not allowed, this includes both direct insults and general aggressiveness. In addition, hate speech, threats (regardless of intent), and calls to violence, will also be removed. Remember the human and follow reddiquette.
Criticism and jokes at the expense of politicians, pundits, and other public figures have been and always will be allowed, and do not constitute a violation of the rule.
2. Use Your Words: Posts and Comments consisting of one word or just an emoji are highly discouraged as we seek to foster debate and conversation. As such they are subject to removal.
3. This is /r/texas: Links and posts must be directly about Texas, not regional/national/worldwide things that happen to involve Texas.
4. No Personal Information: Doxxing and posting personal information, such as names, phone numbers, links to social networking sites, is strictly prohibited. Some social network info will be exempted on a case by case basis.
5. No Spam: If most of your posts and comments are to your own projects, then you're taking advantage of our community and spamming. Please make sure you submit other things and participate on other people's posts. If you think your post might be considered spam, message the mods for approval first. There are no petitions allowed on the sub either.
6. No Reposting: Reposts will be removed, please search before you post. If you want to post another view of the same story, we ask that you contribute it to the comments of the original post. If there is a megathread about a popular story, please add your submission there. Should the original post be removed by a mod then a subsequent repost is not considered a violation of this rule.
7. Political Discourse: Politics are fine but state your case, explain why you hold the positions that you do and debate with civility. Posts and comments meant solely to troll or enrage people, and those that are little more than campaign ads or slogans do nothing to contribute to a healthy debate and will therefore be removed. Petitions will also be removed. AMA's by Political figures are exempt from this rule.
8. No Excessive Caps: No caps lock in titles other than acronyms or initials. Comments and titles with a large percentage of all caps, are considered 'shouting' as well as annoying and will be removed.
9. News Articles: News articles are fine, but must be no older than one month. Your post title must match the article title. You are free to editorialize in a separate comment. Articles posted from biased or secondary sources will be reviewed and accepted/removed upon moderator discretion. Sites with hard leaning bias will be removed immediately. Additionally please use actual articles and not Tweets. Examples of trusted sources: Reuters, AP, NPR, NBC, ABC, CBS, BBC.
10. No Confrontational User Pings: Use username pings (e.g. /u/username in a comment) sparingly and in a non-confrontational manner. If you're considering pinging someone to get their attention on something that they might be interested in, that's fine. If you're considering pinging someone to prove a point or continue debate, that's not ok. Excessive username pings can be considered to be harassment and may be reported to the Reddit admins.
11. No Disparagement of an Individual's Disabilities: While you're free to argue against, debate, criticize, etc. the policies, ideas, politics, and character of any politician, please do not make jokes about anyone's disability. All such "jokes" will be removed.
12. No Solicitations: Selling or looking for a product, housing, a service or a job? Give your local subreddit a try. There may even be a specific one like r/austinclassifieds or r/houstonclassifieds.
13. Moving to Texas / Where to Live / Job Market questions - check the weekly thread pinned to the top of this subreddit (hint, sort by "hot")
14. Drivers License, ID, Car Title or Registration questions - check the Megathread and post there if it's not answered. Plenty of resources there.
Otherwise try your local craigslist or apartments.com because this ain't that.
GoFundMe and similar are also not allowed except in extremely rare circumstances and require mod approval.
Links and comments that violate the rules will be removed. Repeat or severe offenders will be banned. This is an actively moderated subreddit. Calls will be made at the moderator's discretion.

The highway near me has been under construction for years. Specifically, the I-30 / I-635 interchange, part of the 635 East Project.
In this area, there is a long stretch, maybe 2 miles, that has three lanes of highway with no shoulders on either side, no speed limit reduction, and several lane shifts. It's very dangerous and stressful to drive through. But, there are no workers present in this area; it's just the detour for traffic and the workers are elsewhere.
So my question is where can I find information about any laws or regulations in this situation? Are there any? Is it ok for construction companies to just make roads hazardous for years at a time because it's during construction and therefore "temporary?"
All the info I can find is about what drivers should do to make things safer for workers. As I explained, that's not what I'm looking for. What about making it safer for the drivers?
(I can't post in r/Dallas because I don't have enough post karma)
Hi everyone!
I'll be attending the TLA conference at the Omni Dallas Hotel the first week of April. Since my district does not reimburse me very much, it is my preference to stay at a hotel a little bit away from the downtown area (~20 or so minutes?) and commute in. I'm from Houston, which is *VERY* lack in transit options. Is there a relatively easy, safe way to transit in from an outlying hotel? (Aside from Ubering both ways each day, which seems costly.)
Teach me the Dallas ways. Also recs of hotels work, too, especially ones that have those little kitchens in them. Love those. No AirBnBs -- district doesn't reimburse those.
Also let me know any cool places I need to hit up in my "free" time there. It's been about 20 years since I've been!
Moved here from out of state and found 3 roaches my first night. Not the big outside ones either. I've searched the whole house and cannot find any more and no more have come out since then. How concerned should I be and what should I do next??? I literally cannot afford to move again😭..
I urge every Texan to pay attention to this. Texas Republicans are proposing the creation of a “District of Austin,” which would strip power from the city and transfer it to the overwhelmingly Republican state legislature. Why? Because Austin, a blue city, has experienced instances of civil unrest and riots. This move would grant Republicans complete control over Austin’s law enforcement and power grid, as well as the authority to deploy the National Guard, impose curfews, and expand their influence across the greater Austin area.
Furthermore, this plan would give them control over port traffic bound for Austin and interstate traffic within the Texas Triangle. From Austin, they could strategically weaken other major cities in Texas, consolidating their power across the state.

I currently have Reliant. Around $160.00 a month for two people. Who do you have and what do you pay?
Hello, I have been getting into urban exploration as of late and have found out about the canceled Superconducting Super Collider (SSC) over in Waxahachie. I’ve been trying to look up maps for the layout of the collider to find a possible entrance into the tunnels of the collider for nearly a month, but I have unfortunately been unsuccessful so far due to both the lack of available documentation, and the fact that most documents and maps that I have been able to recover of the collider are the original planning documents that show it in proposed entirety, that being 54 miles in circumference; and only 14 miles of which were actually dug out, so I’ve been wondering if there is anyone who would know an entrance. Thank you for lending me your eyes, and for hopefully helping me find the Magnum opus of Texas urban exploration. :)

Hello all..we are planning a trip to California to visit family and I have a questions. Has anyone took highway 40 all the way to California during the month of December? I'm curious of how the roads/weather will be the last week of the year. We've took 20 to 10 before and had no issues, but we thought about maybe taking the more "scenic" route this time. Any advise will be helpful. Thanks in advance.
