/r/Texas Rules:
1. Be Friendly: Personal attacks on your fellow Reddit users are not allowed, this includes both direct insults and general aggressiveness. In addition, hate speech, threats (regardless of intent), and calls to violence, will also be removed. Remember the human and follow reddiquette.
Criticism and jokes at the expense of politicians, pundits, and other public figures have been and always will be allowed, and do not constitute a violation of the rule.
2. Use Your Words: Posts and Comments consisting of one word or just an emoji are highly discouraged as we seek to foster debate and conversation. As such they are subject to removal.
3. This is /r/texas: Links and posts must be directly about Texas, not regional/national/worldwide things that happen to involve Texas.
4. No Personal Information: Doxxing and posting personal information, such as names, phone numbers, links to social networking sites, is strictly prohibited. Some social network info will be exempted on a case by case basis.
5. No Spam: If most of your posts and comments are to your own projects, then you're taking advantage of our community and spamming. Please make sure you submit other things and participate on other people's posts. If you think your post might be considered spam, message the mods for approval first. There are no petitions allowed on the sub either.
6. No Reposting: Reposts will be removed, please search before you post. If you want to post another view of the same story, we ask that you contribute it to the comments of the original post. If there is a megathread about a popular story, please add your submission there. Should the original post be removed by a mod then a subsequent repost is not considered a violation of this rule.
7. Political Discourse: Politics are fine but state your case, explain why you hold the positions that you do and debate with civility. Posts and comments meant solely to troll or enrage people, and those that are little more than campaign ads or slogans do nothing to contribute to a healthy debate and will therefore be removed. Petitions will also be removed. AMA's by Political figures are exempt from this rule.
8. No Excessive Caps: No caps lock in titles other than acronyms or initials. Comments and titles with a large percentage of all caps, are considered 'shouting' as well as annoying and will be removed.
9. News Articles: News articles are fine, but must be no older than one month. Your post title must match the article title. You are free to editorialize in a separate comment. Articles posted from biased or secondary sources will be reviewed and accepted/removed upon moderator discretion. Sites with hard leaning bias will be removed immediately. Additionally please use actual articles and not Tweets. Examples of trusted sources: Reuters, AP, NPR, NBC, ABC, CBS, BBC.
10. No Confrontational User Pings: Use username pings (e.g. /u/username in a comment) sparingly and in a non-confrontational manner. If you're considering pinging someone to get their attention on something that they might be interested in, that's fine. If you're considering pinging someone to prove a point or continue debate, that's not ok. Excessive username pings can be considered to be harassment and may be reported to the Reddit admins.
11. No Disparagement of an Individual's Disabilities: While you're free to argue against, debate, criticize, etc. the policies, ideas, politics, and character of any politician, please do not make jokes about anyone's disability. All such "jokes" will be removed.
12. No Solicitations: Selling or looking for a product, housing, a service or a job? Give your local subreddit a try. There may even be a specific one like r/austinclassifieds or r/houstonclassifieds.
13. Moving to Texas / Where to Live / Job Market questions - check the weekly thread pinned to the top of this subreddit (hint, sort by "hot")
14. Drivers License, ID, Car Title or Registration questions - check the Megathread and post there if it's not answered. Plenty of resources there.
Otherwise try your local craigslist or apartments.com because this ain't that.
GoFundMe and similar are also not allowed except in extremely rare circumstances and require mod approval.
Links and comments that violate the rules will be removed. Repeat or severe offenders will be banned. This is an actively moderated subreddit. Calls will be made at the moderator's discretion.

Hey ! So I need to get my registration renewed by the end of the month, I recently moved and somehow lost my registration receipt from last year . I have the renewal notice letter from a few months? Ago , would that be okay for proof of registration ? If not , can I just get another receipt from my registration last year at the same time as getting this years ? Thanks I couldn’t find a clear answer online :)
I have done cursory Google searches, but I'm curious who your heroes are. Clearly we've got Barbara Jordan. There's José Gutierrez, Maceo Smith.
I have a friend coming down from the U.K for New Years and I’m looking to give them the best experience I can give them while visiting in Texas. I know is months ahead of time but it will give me ideas on what the best options can be. Traditions and great performance of fireworks in any city during New Years. Better to prepare now than later.
If you believe that Bible stories should be shared in Sunday School and Private School rather than in our public school Language Arts curriculum, please consider emailing our Texas State Board of Education TODAY. This week the SBOE voted 8-7 to move forward with the approval of the Bible infused reading curriculum. FINAL VOTE IS ON Friday (11/22).
You may email a quick message such as: I ask that you vote NO on the Bluebonnet Materials for K-5 grade students.
There are many concerns about the quality of the reading instruction as well as inappropriate religious instruction in these materials. Students in our public schools deserve high quality materials that will prepare them to succeed in and out of school.
Reject this curriculum and give TEA the opportunity to make it better for Texas students and resubmit it for approval later.
Our current SBOE members are: Melissa.Ortega@tea.texas.gov, LJ.Francis@sboe.texas.gov, marisa.perez@sboe.texas.gov, Staci.Childs@sboe.texas.gov, rebecca.bellmetereau@tea.texas.gov, will.hickman@tea.texas.gov, Julie.Pickren@tea.texas.gov, audrey.young@tea.texas.gov, ellisSBOE@gmail.com, tom@maynardfortexas.com, pat.hardy.1109@gmail.com, pam.little@tea.texas.gov, sboesupport@sboe.texas.gov, ebrooks@evelyn4texaseducation.com, aaron.kinsey@tea.texas.gov
i know in some states, if you're a ward of the state and you become an adult, they may have programs to provide state funded education and health insurance. Is there anything like that in Texas?
i'm trying to search for it but i'm only finding information on Guardians and the benefits they get.
Maybe i'm using the wrong search terms? i'm using 'benefits being a ward of the state texas' and 'ward of the state texas as an adult'

Hope this opens some eyes.
There has been an ongoing fight around the state and I am curious about the latest updates.
