Wondering if anyone here has an Al Anon or Adult Children of Alcoholics meeting locally that they love… specifically for an adult daughter of a functioning alcoholic who died from alcoholism but was also a pretty good Mom, all things considered. Specific, I know. 😅 It’s a different vibe than when your Q is a spouse or a child.
rock is fine too. i’m looking for a slaughter beach, dog or great grandpa feel.
Started a petition to encourage boycotting the Mavs. They don’t give a shit about us, let’s do the only thing we can and protest.
We don’t deserve this. Luka didn’t deserve this. What a slap in the face
EDIT: To all the people upset about this post because it’s a game and it doesn’t matter: I’m well aware. This is not a real protest, it doesn’t matter, and it’s just basketball.
Just let us have our time to mourn the team we love and have supported for decades in peace.
Sitting at the Tom Thumb in Victory Plaza. Watching Luka fans are buying flowers to leave at the makeshift memorial around the corner at the AAC.
Today is my brother's birthday and I was going to a protest in Austin (I thought we would take a shuttle bus to Austin from Dallas) but can't make the drive and I already called off work. I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a protest tomorrow. I've been so happy to see all the activism and support and I want to join in!
I moved here last year and I'm renting. I'm going to be buying in the fall, so I'm starting to do some basic scouting. I'm looking to buy a condo or a town house as I don't want to deal with a full house given I'm single and don't need much space.
i am using Zillow and when I find something nice I sometimes see HOA fees of north of $1000 a month. Making a 550k condo effectively into a 860k condo. Is this normal in the north Dallas / Addison area?
So I've always loved stand up comedy (the irony) and making people laugh, but I'm in a wheelchair. I've gone to many comedy clubs in the Dallas area and many of the clubs are barely wheelchair accessible as a audience member and totally inaccessible to take the stage. There are lots of voices in comedy of various races, sexual orientations and identifications and political opinions but almost no disabled comedians and I'm curious if it's mostly due to a lack of access. If anyone knows of an open mic night comedy show that is wheelchair accessible please let me know.
What are some good thrift shops in the Dallas/North Dallas area for guys looking for a more grunge aesthetic? I've been to a few thrift shops but they're either overpriced or not really my vibe
The NBA needs to suffer. The Mavs owners, the Adelson's, the Dumont's, etc., need to suffer. They only care about money, not winning, and this mentality will ruin sports in this country. Before another city's fans has to sit back and watch it happen, the AMAZING Mavs fans that are the best fans in the NBA need to step up and say, "enough is enough," and stop giving them time, money, or attention.
We need to show that we are not some commodity for outsider billionaires to "use" just to make money off of. The Mavs are part of Dallas' culture; you don't f with that. We are one of the biggest markets in the US. It is a privilege to be the team supported by die-hard fans that withstood the 90s and keeps showing up time and time again...helping to propel this franchise to a >$1B valuation.
If the owners/GM/governor are not going to look out for the best interests of the Mavs as a winning-first franchise, that will exist beyond 2029, then they need to GTFO and move to Las Vegas. Want taxpayer dollars, ever? Get them elsewhere, you money-hungry parasites. This is already setting up as a battle between these leaches and the public.
Lets us, the public, fight back. Dallas, I implore you to boycott the Mavs. Destroy their value. Force them to move or sell before we prove these rich a-holes right by ignoring their lack of a soul, basketball sense, or respect. Hold them accountable for the most un-excusable trade in NBA history...for thinking the fans wouldn't mind, or worse, thinking it would outrage us and speed up their ability to move. Let them have it. But don't be a chump.
Edit: let me make clear…this isn’t easy for me. I’ve been die hard for 36 years. I’m 44. Started being obsessed, with my dad, around ‘88. Today we are both disgusted.
Going to see Kumail Nanjiani at the Majestic tonight. Where is a good place to park that isn’t outrageously expensive?
This is kind of a niche question for anyone familiar with the M Streets, but when did they rename McComas to McCommas, and why? I’ve always wondered why the old tile street signs are different than the ones posted on the stop signs.
I love a good lunch/happy hour special, or really any kind of meal deal, especially when takeout is an option. Ive found some good ones so far. Sushi axiom has $10 ramen during their daily happy hour and all day Sunday. I get this almost every week. Texas de Brazil has an all you can eat deal on fridays for around $30 at lunch. Im also a big fan of the red sticker deals at Eatzis.
Im not even crunched for money, I just love the feeling of finding a good special. Makes me feel like I beat the system. Anyone know of any others that stand out?
Did anything change? 📱 (2014)
Not really sure where to start on this. I’m really unhappy with where things are heading and I want to do more than just protest. MAGAs didn’t get us here by just protesting - they infiltrated all levels of govts and I want to claw some of that back
Got to run an errand out there in a bit and would love recommendations for lunch. I’ve been to a lot of the places in Carrollton so looking to broaden my horizons with new places. Appreciate any feedback!
Title. I feel like the trade brought a lot of people out of the Mavs fan base. What do yall think?
I’ll go first. Because LA has better barbecue and Luka felt Terry Blacks was cheap garbage so he begged for the trade
Edit:
honorable mentions:
Luka felt that Dallas was too shallow, wealth and status obsessed so decided LA would be a better fit
It was because of reverse DEI. The Lakers had too many people of color so they needed another white guy for balance
Luka actually IS too fat and doesn’t play any defense and was becoming dead weight
Not something to do with gambling
I don't follow the sportsball very much. A lot of people on social media seem very upset this weekend.
Never thought the day would come where I would stop being a Mavs fan. Basketball was the first sport I fell in love with, Dirk was the reason I became a MFFL. Watching the organization waste Dirks twilight years all to land Luka. Then to trade Luka for absolutely nothing worth his value. This is a stab in the back to fans and the city of Dallas. Thanks for ruining a sport and game I love Nico Harrison.
Need a mechanic for a newer Toyota SUV in town. Simple work like rear brakes and a transmission fluid drain/fill. Any suggestions? Refuse to go to the stealership.
