Gf and I will be visiting Austin for Valentine’s Day weekend and would love suggestions as to where we should go without breaking the bank! I know it’ll be busy that evening anyways but would like to see any recommendations you guys have!
For reference, we’ll be staying west of downtown Austin, about 20 min away
Hi! Visiting you the last week of May-4 adults. We love all kinds of food and we’re looking forward to checking out the music scene (I would love to find some good bluegrass, myself…) We don’t like being touristy, but we do look for fun stuff to do. Thanks in advance-can’t wait to see you!!🥰
What's going on in our great city?

Hi everyone, I live in Killeen but I didn’t have much luck looking there - I’m 21, looking for young adult/adult hip hop dance classes around the area. Temple, Georgetown, Round Rock, North Austin preferred. Thanks!
11:30 near Hyde Park
Howdy y’all!
My bf and I go to Texas State, just down I-35, but we plan on driving up to Austin for Valentines. I’d appreciate some suggestions on what to do — Nothing too fancy, we’re both broke college students. We love museums (although we aren’t sure which ones are worth visiting), oddities, nature, anything off the beaten path.
Please let me know if y’all have any specific recommendations because a lot of things look fun online, however we’re both super indecisive people.
Also we suck at planning things.
I want to have a picnic day for my wife’s birthday this week with friends; it’s too late to make a reservation for a picnic area, but does that mean I can’t bring my own tables and chairs and tent and pizza (since I can’t grill)? No alcohol as that’s not allowed, but this should be OK right?
I’ve got the post London holiday blues. Are there any places in town where Brit immigrants hang? At this point I’d settle for someone faking an accent :/
Hello! Looking for a summer school/camp program for a 4 year old (turning 5 in the summer) kiddo. A lot are for 5+ (I'm reaching out if turning 5 during the program is allowed). Any favorites in SW Austin? Open to weekly summer camps or schools that have summer camp.
Someone call Jeff Goldblum
Curious if anyone knows initiation here? We’re moving to the area.leasing before we decide what area to buy in. Lease comes with social membership. Anyone know any other details?
My mother in law needs to get a passport in the next few weeks. I know with everything going on right now it’s hard to get appointments. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Main point from the go.
PEDESTRIANS ALWAYS HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY.
Full stop.
I’ve witnessed too many incidents lately. If you ride the trail or know someone who does please remind them of this.
I just saw some dude on an e-bike speeding through and get tangled in someone’s dog leash while it was attached to the dog. Scared the hell out of the people and the poor dog. To make it worse the guy on the e-bike started yelling at the women walking the dog to pay attention. Luckily another man stepped into the situation and put the fool in his place. He sped off muttering nonsense of course.
I’m a long time cyclist myself. To the fellow cyclists, please use your brain. Going out there on a busy day isn’t the time to fuck around and try to set a PR. Do that when there’s nobody out. Slow your roll when you’re near pedestrians. Nobody thinks you’re a bad ass when you speed by. You just look like a selfish moron.
Anyone get a hair system for men in Austin? What barber would you recommend that knows good hair systems and how to install them?
What an incredible resource and amenity for the city. As someone training for the Austin marathon, it’s so nice to have an accessible place to run distance in the city.
I went to The Tavern (an Arsenal bar) today with a Gooner friend to watch the Arsenal v. Man City game today and had a great time. I wanted to see if there were in Brighton fans here in Austin that would like to get together and watch the games.
Austin is a big soccer city so I’m holding out for a least a few, though I know it’s a bit rough coming out as a Brighton fan this weekend with our 0-7 lose against Forest. Up The Albion!!
Hello everyone! I'm planning on being in Austin from out of state for work this week, primarily in the campus/Capitol area. My coworker is concerned about safety given potential protests (and primarily people having negative reactions to protests causing dangerous behavior).
We're also from a capital/campus city so we're familiar with how rumors can snowball around protests and that typically these events are peaceful.
But I figured I'd reach out to locals and sus out the vibes. Are you all concerned at all?
Thanks!
Has anyone been to Dr. Pur Life in Bee Cave for neuropathy Treatment? What was your experience like please? I'm so tired of the nightly pain, I want a cure - not more drugs.
Some affordable options for car detailing
North Austin but I don’t mind driving, need between 6-8 of them
So I did see the awesome like quarter-ish moon that looked kind of like a smile, and Venus next to it. However, when I woke up and went out at approximately 2:15am, I did not see the moon. I started doing my Uber driving, at times looking for the moon. I never saw it again. Did anyone else witness this weird phenomenon, or am I just tripping ballz? 🤣
I moved here from London. Traffic in Austin is a dream. Any time of the day, any day of the week. Mopac, i35, honestly, I can’t see what all the fuss is about!
I can't figure out if I lost it or someone stole it...I'm thinking the latter, but in the off chance that someone found it and turned it in - it would have been a bit after 2am. It's a man's style Herschel wallet; black with red and white stripes. It had about $250 in cash, credit cards, debit, a woman's ID (mine), HAAM membership card, library card, etc. I asked the place I had been prior to everything closing - I even went back to look, but no luck so far. I was 100% sober, so there's no way I just had gone somewhere and completely forgot where it could be. It could have fallen out somewhere along 6th, Trinity, 5th, or so. I hope one of yall found it and turned it in. Thanks!
Update! Someone found it downtown and turned it in with everything in it! Thank you so much for whoever turned it in. You're a beautiful human being.
Does anyone know of a Kyokushin dojo within an hours drive of austin? It's something I really enjoyed as a kid and would like to get back into it but I'll be danged if I can find a place!
