Did Arlington Public Library reduce the borrow limit on Hoopla? I could have sworn the limit was 12 or so a few months ago, but I just noticed my limit this month is at 5.

It’s 10:20 pm Saturday night. We’ve had every type of siren and police helicopters hovering for about an hour. Anyone know what’s up.

Just spent the better part of an hour picking up literally 100's of pieces of trash from our yard alone. The entire street looks like this and its getting worse every year.

This is our 4th Halloween on Waggoner. When we moved in we were excited to be a part of the storied Arlington tradition of trick-or-treating on Waggoner. Each year we spend hours decorating, spend $100's on decorations, $100's more on candy, give up our entire afternoon and evening preparing and handing out candy to a 3-hour constant queue of trick-or-treaters. All in good fun. We knew what we signed up for when we bought the house and we enjoy every minute of it.

We already have to deal with people drinking, smoking pot, fighting, literal grown-ass adults without kids or even costumes trick-or-treating, kids holding up the line demanding more candy, kids coming back multiple times, and people trampling through everyone's yards. Our reward for it is spending the next day picking up 100's of pieces of trash.

I get that some people live in apartments and need somewhere to give their kids the all-American Halloween experience. I support that fully.

BUT, you are not paying customers. We are not your employees. You are guests on our street and each and every resident makes innumerable sacrifices of their time, money, and hard work because that's what we've always done for some reason. We don't owe it to anybody to do what we do but we do it anyhow. A labor of love, if you will. The least you could do is set good examples and encourage your kids to treat our neighborhood with respect.

The consequences for our participation has gotten worse and worse each year we've lived here. Now I understand the houses that go dark and don't participate. We might join them next year and encourage our neighbors to do the same.

She couldn't resist my jackolantern, so she stole it, then her accomplice took all the candy . I hope this reaches the parents. What a disgrace.

Mail used to come noon and it was always delivered correctly. I don’t whether my neighborhood mail person changed but now my mail comes from 4-7pm and it’s always at the wrong house! Is anyone else experiencing this?

My long-distance BF is in Arlington for work and will be there for Thanksgiving. Neither of us are from the area, so no family nearby to spend the holiday with. I want to surprise him with a nice meal so he feels cared for! Is there a place nearby that does Thanksgiving dinner that could be delivered to his hotel or somewhere that might be open I can make him a reservation? Tyia!

This is my first time living in an apartment here in Arlington. I really wanna hand out candy but I don't know if kids even trick-or-treat at apartments. Last year I lived in a suburb here and only got like 4 trick-or-treaters.

All the data about old people making up the majority of early/mail-in voters, etc. I get it. I also get that we olds don't like the whole "overly positive" way of dealing with young people. "Everyone gets a trophy!" "We'll always give you good grades even if you don't do any of the work!"

I know our "only old people are voting so far" isn't meant to try to pressure them into voting, but as a I teacher I can tell you if they feel like they're being pressured into something by older people, young people tend to react by not doing that thing.

But the current mess isn't their fault. If I'm trying to get someone to clean up the mess I made, I'm going to be overly nice about asking them.

So, you beautiful, wonderful, awesome young people, would you please help us clean up the mess we made? We're old and can't do a lot of things for ourselves any more. Some of us can't even make it to the bathroom in time and have to wear diapers or even put a towel down on the couch. You can put us in a home after this if you want. You don't even have to come visit. We'll even buy you some avocado toast if you vote! Look, we even made it where you don't have to vote for an old white man again!

Contacted the 30/360 construction website over what seems to be a completely stalled project. They said they just started doing some work again but the HOV lanes won't be finished until summer 2025. And the terrible lane striping for 360 north to the I-30 ramps isn't their responsibility.

I need to seat some tubeless bike tires on the rims and I need something with high pressure to seat them. Those ones at the gas station are too low- I need 100+ PSI.

Looking for eventson Halloween that me I can wear my costume to

We have an old Nissan XTerra in our driveway that doesn’t get driven very often. Yesterday this guy knocks on our door and asks me if I’m interested in selling it because he is trying to buy a car for his daughter who is in need of a vehicle. A few hours later a different guy comes to the door asking to buy it and tells almost the exact same story. This afternoon while we were out someone put a business card on our door saying they buy old cars.

What on earth is going on that 3 people in 24 hours asked to buy this thing?

What are great neighborhoods to go trick-or-treating with family? Would like there to be decorated streets for the older family members to walk past an enjoy the scenery.

My wife and I were eating there and I noticed a couple men loitering near the trash can. Then one of the came over and asked if he could have my receipt "for school". Knew it was BS because they both had to be at least mid to late 20s. My guess as someone who has been in restaurant management, they were looking for receipts to scam Raising Cane's for a free meal. Very likely they were going to take it to the counter and claim their order was messed up and they wanted it remade. They weren't homeless, definitely weren't missing any meals. Just scammers.

So heads up on that if you own or run a restaurant. Make sure you check receipts, I'd have people claim they came through the drive thru the night before and the receipt would clearly be a dine in receipt from the current day.
