Can't wait to take them out tomorrow! 😁
Trying to figure out this connection for crossing Flemington Rd. Nearby protected lanes on Abbotsford St don't work because I am wanting to cross over, and not turn left.
For context I am aiming to come via the Arden St protected lanes once complete, and go via Harker St as shown here would be the most time efficient.
Wondering jf people would recommend doing the Great Vic ride for a non sport cycling focused person? Context I’m a long time bike commuter/bike for all sort of transport and beginner bike packer. The distance isn’t a worry but how much is the tour more of an endurance or sport thing? Thanks in advance!
Been cycling solo for a while now and I'm looking for a group/peloton to join in with around Northern suburbs? Just recently saw a big group cruise over the weekend towards Yarra blvd but no idea if they were a casual group or not. Suggestions welcome. Cheers!
Hi! I’m kinda new here in melbourne especially cycling here in the city.I started riding my bike going to school in cbd area.
Is it safe to leave your lights on your bike outside in cbd or any detachable items in daytime?
Did anyone have their bike stolen a couple of weeks ago? It may have ended up in our back yard.
I saw someone post how they walked all the metro lines in Melbourne and being a big rail nerd I wanted to give it a go but I'm not game enough to walk it so I was thinking of doing it by bike. I've planned most of the routes with the Arevo app but I was wondering what app you would recommend for route planning. I'm a novice in cycling, so I like that Arevo has a 'safer' option, but I'm curious whether others have found it reliable.
Riding east or west on Dynon across the bridge is NOT safe. And it's going to get worse. The bridge that goes over the train lines, the one that Google doesn't name anymore because it clusters up their advertising.
It was a shit show during the bridge widening. No accomodations for cyclists built into the construction. 40km speed limit not enforced despite the cash speed camera on the way towards Footscray. Traffic bollards still sitting on the side of the road on top of the bridge. Construction lights blinding drivers to the lights of cyclists ahead. And 2 new on/off ramps soon to be opened. They don't give a flying fuck about us
Reposting from facebook. This somewhat suspicious looking person was captured on CCTV in a back lane in East Melbourne today. Not a great photo to identify the bike.
Has been reported to Crimestoppers. East Melbourne Connect FB
I have a 4km ride to work and I've finally decided to stop being a lazy arsehole and start riding.
Any tips for not getting flattened? Half the ride is on bike track tbh.
I'd like to ask what's the gravel condition like? I wanted to ask if I can ride my endurance bike with 34x700c knobby tires there. Otherwise I'd skip for next year building a proper gravel bike. thanks
Hi all. Getting back into a bit of cycling after a long time and have noticed many cycling map trail apps like bikemap, alltrails, strava, komoot etc. that require paid subscription to unlock their full features. If you could only sub to one, and use the others as a reference, which one would you recommend? Thanks
Does anyone have advice for selling a bike? I am thinking I am going to change mine but need to sell my current bike.
Melbourne weather feels so random to me, and I don't want to get caught in a heavy rain. Any biking commuters with a recommendation on best weather app for tracking rain in the city?
Hi everyone,
I recently bought a gravel bike and am now considering purchasing my first pair of cycling shoes. However, I’ve had difficulty finding my size (44) at nearby local store or 99 Bikes, and the in-store selection is quite limited as well.
I ordered a pair of Shimano XC502 shoes from Pushys, and while the length seems fine, they feel extremely tight. I think I might need the wide version, but it’s been hard to find them in stock online.
I’m not set on Shimano, so I’m wondering if anyone can recommend a store with a wider selection of sizes where I can try some shoes on first? Thanks!
Just joined this sub and want to know if biketag has some special meaning other than showing a cute pic of your bike. In order.
Hi, I am looking for any cycling paths ( non road) that are at a minimum of 50 km preferably 70 km - 80 km in the South East that is not congested and not stopping for red lights .
Or otherwise, a really great cycling circuit that are 5 km - 10 km that is not congested.
Any regular commuters roped in their workmates for a ride tomorrow? (Wednesday 16th October)
I ride to work every day but I have a couple of car-commuter colleagues joining me tomorrow on the bike.
Keep an eye out for these rest stops - usually have free coffee and snacks.

Can anyone recommend good roads in Melbourne metro area to do max efforts? I basically need to do efforts of 10-30 minutes on my road bike. Ideally roads with minimal disruptions like traffic lights. So far on my list I have:
