The subreddit for students and staff past, present and future of Australian Catholic University. Subscribe, connect and converse with Redditors from all campuses!
No spam, no bullying/discrimination.
Yes we are a small community at the moment, but we are aiming to make this as large as possible by promoting this sub and Reddit to others. It is a hard process as Reddit is not as mainstream as Facebook. So please lend a hand and get your friends aboard.
In this subreddit feel free to share uni news/updates, news about the suburbs surrounding your campus, study memes, pics of strange things you see around campus. Humor is gladly welcomed. When we grow in followers, even ask a another acu redditor for study help, sell text books or advertise your spare room for rent. This is a fun community aiming to bring together acuers, free from the stress and seriousness of intense study.
Just to clear the air if you are curious or another skeptic of religious education or institutes, ACU is a public university. They teach theology but you don't have to do it at all. No religious ideology, morals or values are forced upon you at all if you attend or visit the uni. I am not religious and a lot of the students who attend aren't but I still acknowledge a lot of students may chose ACU as their uni because they are in fact catholic. Melbourne ACU has a small chapel that people can chose to attend every weekday, however it is not pressured to students to go. They still teach evolution in their necessary disciplines such as biology, psychology, sociology and don't withhold any other important subjects and topics from any discipline. There is nothing wrong with ACU as a public university, it is a friendly place where you are free to express your non-christian or christian views.

Hey, so I'm hoping to get into ACU next year and I'm curious if there's an unofficial discord server for the university just so I can get some fellow insight into it's workings and hopefully chat about the different studies with present uni students.
We are looking for Australian parents (especially fathers) who have at least two children aged 2 to 18 to complete an online survey about their views of their children’s sibling relationships and sibling conflict, use of strategies for parenting support and their own wellbeing levels. The survey is completely anonymous, and the information collected will be used as part of Masters and Honours research projects. Participation involves completing an online survey, which will take approximately 30 minutes and asks a range of questions about parenting and sibling relationships. We are interested in factors that might influence how parents view their children’s sibling relationships.
If you are interested in participating, please go to the below link for further information and to complete the survey:

Don't want to have to travel all the way out to Ballarat, although it is 'multi mode' from the website, is this essentially online with lab days at end of semester and placements?
Hello everyone,
My name is Violet. I am a fourth-year Australian psychology student doing research for my thesis. I am exploring the impact of social media on sense of belonging and mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic.
I am looking for participants to complete my online survey. Anyone that is currently living in NSW Australia, is a university student, and studied in 2020 and 2021 can complete the survey. It takes around 20 minutes. There is a $100 e-gift voucher up for grabs.

Hello ACU students,
My name is Bree and I'm looking for a bunch of participants to help me with my Honours thesis study regarding how COVID-19 has dramatically changed the learning landscape for Australian University students.
To be eligible, you had to be studying on campus and then had to go online due to COVID restrictions or had to sit a proctored exam for the first time.
The survey takes about 20-25 minutes.
And you'd be greatly helping me if you can spare the time! And please tell your friends!
The survey is here 📷

Hi everyone!
I’m interested in taking up Biomedical Science in ACU North Sydney campus. I wanted to work in diagnostics and/or research (microbiology and genetics in particular). I just want to ask if the degree has enough laboratory practical experience in both units and if there are electives available that are highly relevant to the subjects.
Thank you very much!
I'm wanting to study next year at ACU but I have heard you need to study two religious subjects, im not religious at all and wondering if I actually have to do these subjects as part of a requirement to finish.
I cant find the option
What happens if i miss orientation
Hey guys,
I'm considering studying the Bachelor of Education (Primary and Secondary). I was wondering whether I get I touch with someone who is studying this course; I have a few questions and also wanted to know about your experiences and how you found the course overall. That would really helpful, thanks guys!
Hello! I’m currently a first year undergraduate student in the Philippines and I am planning to move to Australia in the future so I have been deciding on whether or not I should study in ACU. I’m planning to take up Nursing/BusinessAd or BiomedicalSci/BusinessAd in the North Sydney campus. I can’t decide on whether I should just finish my undergraduate degree here and just take up a postgrad in Australia as my desired courses cannot be taken online and I can’t really go there right now since the international borders are still closed.
I would just like to ask, is the Nursing/BiomedSci/BusinessAd degree of ACU worth it (in terms of university experience, quality of teaching, and employment after getting my degree)? Or should I apply for other universities in Sydney such as USyd, UNSW, or UTS? I’m also quite hesitant about these universities because they are much more expensive compared to ACU, where I already got my acceptance offer. Thank you in advance!
P.S. I was thinking of enrolling in ACU for undergrad since it was cheaper and when I finally become a PR or citizen in Australia, it will be cheaper for me to study for postgrad (or will it not?)
I have just applied for readmission after being terminated due to poor grades last year. There have been significant improvements to my life this year and I feel like I am ready again to study. I was mainly wanting to know when I should expect to hear back, or if there are any additional forms I'll be asked to fill out. If anyone knows I would be very happy to hear.
Thanks! :)
can somone plz tell me lol thanks guys x
Hi all! Has anybody completed a unit in intensive mode at ACU? My subject is supposedly covered in four days... and I am wondering how that is even possible?? What were your assessments like if you did something similar? Thanks!
Melbourne Uni specifies 10 working days from the official date of submission.
What about ACU?
Specifically, Strathfield or north Sydney campus? Is it similar to business studies in high school?

Trying to become a secondary math teacher with a minor in english, but i can't seem to apply for the course as it's not listed on VTAC, unlike arts (humanities) and such. Anyone know why/
Has anyone here have or tried a group SWM (study with me) session on ZOOM? Is this something people would be interested in doing?
I like to study late at night but with this whole rona thing, being inside all day ! ! is seriously giving us a hard time concentrating, even on times I'm usually able to :( I'm (supposed to be) studying 70% of my spare time because I've got a few (now virtual) extracurriculars that I have weekly deadlines on :(( So far, I've been relying on my friends for this, but they have healthier bedtimes and are working as well;; yes, I know I can go outside but I limit it to twice a week max as long word alert (I'm immunocompromised)
Ideally, I'll run them whenever I'm home and don't have classes on Zoom ! Those times are: Tuesday (8:15pm - 2am); Wed (11:15am-5pm; 8:15pm-2am); Thurs (8am-12pm; 1:30pm-12am); Fri (8am-12pm; 4pm-12am); Sat (8am-12pm; 1:30-12am); Sunday (8am-12am; sometimes off); and Mondays off.
Google Calendar will have these schedules a week in advance, and would vary depending on my future social plans. Generally though, they'll stay the same- likely a couple changes per week max, or not even ! I'll send the invite through gmail to whoever's interested, and the meeting ID will stay the same throughout ( until whenever this at home thing ends :/ )
Thinking of being a co-host to fill in more time slots? Let me know !
