I have just purchased a Ford Transit van from NSW (currently registered in NSW by the seller). The van has been modified with solar panels, cooking facilities, bed etc., as a camper conversion.
I am wondering if I MUST get a VASS certificate concerning the campervan conversion for it to be possible for me to register the van in my name in Victoria? Or, is this optional? I understand that the usual process when purchasing a van from interstate from someone else is obtaining a roadworthy certificate followed by a registration appointment where the van will be inspected.
My main question is that if I go along with the usual process, will vicroads deny registration of the van because of its camper conversion?
Thanks in advance!
Hi everyone! Sorry if this is a silly question, I’m relatively new to Victorian. A few friends and I want to go down to Bunga Arm for the March long weekend and have reserved a Pelican campsite, and I understand it’s only accessible by boat.
Does anyone have experience with this - we own kayak’s but not boats. I understand we can hire some in Paynesville but what would be the most cost effective option to get ourselves and our gear over to the campground?
Hi everyone, we are looking for some suggestions on camping spots. Ideally close(ish) to Ballarat, but the main things we're looking for is seclusion (my dog can sometimes be weird around other people), toilets, and best case scenario a creek/river/lake clean enough to potentially swim or at least walk around in to cool off.
Any suggestions are much appreciated :)
Over 2 year old Telos TR2. Seam sealing tape is coming away in places. No issues - S2S just sent a replacement fly.
Nice to know your warranty is solid, S2S.
A few friends and I plan on staying at Wilson’s Prom between 8-10 March (Labour Day weekend) but some of the campsites we had in mind such as Tidal River are fully booked out for this period. Any suggestions for any other campsites that are quite user friendly who are planning on pitching tents and have accessible toilets maybe showers too?
Thanks in advance!
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knows what the deal is with tidal river being so booked out so far in advance? Has it always been this difficult to get a spot there in summer or is the free aspect leading people to overbook/not cancel unneeded bookings etc? Does the park do anything about no shows? Would love to get down there at some point before the weather drops off but chances are looking grim according to the bookings page!
Hey everyone I’m extremely new to caravanning I need new locks and I don’t want to buy the wrong ones what side are my hinges in ?
The fire at the Grampians remained out of control, with firefighters beginning back-burning operations around the Horse Gap area on Sunday afternoon to strengthen containment lines.
I’ve camped at the Island Campground heaps of times before and always enjoyed it.
Just wondering if anyone has ever tried camping along here (any of the grounds along the road) on New Years Eve ?
I am guessing it would be pretty busy but I’m wondering if I should risk it anyways (not able to drive in early, as I work during the day on new years)
I am looking for camping site accommodation from 26/12/2024 till 06/01/2025. Please let me know if anyone has a previous booking but wishes to cancel.
Hey, all.
I know this question probably gets asked heaps, but we're looking for a quiet place to hide out over the Christmas period.
I know all the usual rules - avoid large bodies of water, etc - but any other tips and tricks? Any quiet spots in the woods you can recommend maybe?
My partner and I live on the road with no fixed address, so going home isn't an option unfortunately, and we've had a super stressful few weeks just gone, so would really like to rest up without being kept awake all night by loud music, etc.
Any advice is welcome! Thanks.
New ep takes you to Mt Cole and then to the Grampians as we make our way to our final destination…the beach. Well, a cliff top but with a stunning view of the beach.
Hi Folks I am looking for some recommendations for a camping place for this weekend which has fresh river water( and not a creek where I can’t get into water) I live in western suburbs of Melbourne
Hey folks, I'm looking to get out of dodge for Xmas, was wondering if it is normally busy over Xmas Eve / Day. Obviously depends on location but just in general.
Wondering if it will be easy to get a spot on the lake to camp over the australia day weekend?
Went to Halls gap for the weekend, been there maybe 2-3 times before and never experienced anything like it. The cicada's were extremely loud, I want to guess 90+Db, from sun up to sundown.
Does anyone know what's up with that and how common it is? I read every x years they explode in terms of breeding but that was from a US site so not sure if that applies.
Last year I bought my first swag a 23 Zero double 900 . I loved the concept but I had to sell it in the end I kept waking in the morning with shocking headaches from the PVC smell of the floor . It was like sleeping inside a car tyre or chemical factory . Tried several things like washing with soapy water & airing it out for days on end plus ventilating it at night . I've had the same issue with cheap hiking tents but not with the more expensive ones . Anyone else find have this issue ? Maybe I need a swag with a canvas floor ?
Gday boys and girls.
Just need to get away for a few days
I am looking for a spot near Melbourne with a river would be great. Maybe a little bit if 4x4 to get in would be great as well
I’ve got a self sufficient set up. Winch snorkel lift kit uhf.
Any suggestions would be great thanks legends.
Hi folks, hope you can help me out - want to try out my new swag/tent and am new to camping - any suggestions for somewhere near a beach where I can try it out - just a night or two initially. don't need anything special re facilities. thanks in advance!
I'll be off to Kinglake camping on a farm provided by a Hipcamp host.
Pic is my setup for solo camping.
Hey everyone, what are peoples experience going free camping just after xmas with no real plans? (between Dec 26 - Jan 5th) looking around Bright/Murray River etc. but anywhere will do (preferably with river/creek)
We usually book somewhere in advance but may not be the case this year.
TIA!
Hi there, just wondering if anyone has taken this track recently and if it’s suitable for a 2WD raised ute. If it’s anything like Meringtons Track from Walhalla road I will be fine.
Hey guys, Just wondering if you have any suggestions as to where I would be able to camp without access to transport by car as I am 17, happy to mish it on public transport from the Mornington pen. Thanks in advance :)
Looking into the best/cheapest/easiest solution for powering a 53l dometic camping fridge. My original plan was to go the tried and tested dual battery set up, but I’ve recently stumbled across a brand that offers a lithium battery that is supposed to work effectively as a power source for both crank and auxiliary power. There’s no wiring upgrades required, or extra battery mounting. Just a straight swap from old battery to new. The cost is similar to the dual setup. It sounds too good to be true, however I’m aware that technology is coming along in leaps and bounds, so it may be feasible. Does anyone have any experience with an Invicta hybrid starter battery?
Thanks for any info offered.
Is there anywhere over a long weekend that doesn’t get way too crowded? Specifically looking at getting away for Melbourne Cup long weekend for a few days.
Was looking at sheepsyard flat area but know it will probably be super busy and would have to go early. Any other recommendations nearby?
Anyone camped in Cape Paterson (ingenia holiday parks) ? We are looking into booking a campsite near the beach within 2hrs of Melbourne. Found this place, looks pretty good but reviews are either 1 or 5 stars 😅😅
Me and my partner are having our first visit to the Grampians this weekend. We are planning on sleeping in our car at Plantation Campground.
Obviously the risk with this is we drive off for a hike in the day and come back to find there are no spaces. Is this a potential risk or are you okay to just park up with a car if you don’t have a tent requiring a pitch?
Thanks I’m advance
