Bus/diesel mechanic?

Hi! My friends and I bought a ‘98 Thomas school bus a few months back and are trying to get it to start to no avail. Wondering if there might be any mechanics nearby (Wendell) who’d be able to come by and check it out? Compensated, of course. Thank you!

Is it just me or is there no where really fun to "go out" here lol

I live in Durham and there are some ok places here, but the vibe at most of them is standing around and holding a drink or sitting and holding a drink and talking lol. Honestly the most "fun" night out I've had here is at Shooters, but I went in the summer and I know it's over run by Duke students now.

I went to Glenwood last week and was unimpressed. The Village used to be a fun place to dance but they closed it, and every place we went just had a similar vibe of standing around and holding a drink. I ubered all the way to Raleigh for that? lol.

Just curious...where do you go to have a fun night out here?

Giving birth at UNC or Duke Regional

Questions about giving birth at UNC Women’s Hospital or Duke Regional. (I will also reach out to the providers but wanted to see if anyone had firsthand experience with these things at either hospital.)

-Does Duke Regional provide nitrous oxide/ laughing gas for pain management? -Does UNC have cordless fetal monitoring? What about intermittent fetal monitoring? -Does either hospital require you to have an IV or can you have a port placed and no line, or no IV at all, until indicated?

TIA!

Jeopardy and Wheel

Are politicians the only ones buying ads during the 7-8pm hour? This is not about any candidate, I am just sick of the ads. Am I the only one who feels this way?

sailing instruction (private or otherwise) for adult learner (with experience) + 6yo on boat

I recently took an intro sailing class that basically amounts to ASA 101 Keelboat, light to moderate winds, day sailing on a lake. I'd like to keep learning / practicing by sailing with an instructor, but the trick is I'd also like my 6yo child to join us (not to sail or crew, just to experience). Can anyone recommend a program or a private instructor who would be comfortable with this?

I get why not every program would allow this - 6 is young. But it's kind of a bummer - my child is SO SUPER EXCITED to be on a sailboat (he's already talking about taking sailing with CSF when he turns 8). So I'm seeing if I can figure something out before I'm 100% comfortable being on the water by myself!

What should prospective residents know?

Hi, all. We're a family of four that's considering a move to the area from Texas. I've done much research and comparison on costs, neighborhoods etc. and are planning to visit in March.

We're wondering from folks what are some of the things about the area that we can't get a feel for ahead of time. What are some qualities or traits of the area we'll experience only when we're visiting or actually living there? What should we consider when we are visiting?

Thanks in advance!

New Buddhist Meetings in Apex for anyone interested . . .

If anyone in the area is interested in Buddhism, I run a Buddhist Sangha that has previously been online but we've just secured a location to start holding regular in-person meetings! They will be held at the same location we recently held our "Buddhist Coffee Hour" - the Mocha Room (2145 Ten-Ten Rd in Apex). Our first meeting will be Mon 10/21 @ 7PM and then they will be every other Monday at the same time. Anyone is always welcome, regardless of your previous experience (or lack of experience) with Buddhism. Our meetings will vary a bit from meeting to meeting but generally include readings, meditation, Dharma Talks, and group discussion. Plus, even though the Mocha Room will be closed, they will have a Barista there still to sell great coffee and food to anyone at the meeting that would like to purchase anything. The Mocha Room is a really cool place that supports the Apex community so I encourage everyone to check them out too! More info here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1047849326538226/ . Or feel free to comment/message me with questions.

Selling/Consigning Jeans

I have a pile of higher end jeans I’d like to get rid of. They’re all in good shape, and the brands include Citizens of Humanity, Frame, and J Brand. I’d like to ideally get at least $20 per pair. A couple pairs are skinny jeans, and I don’t even know if anywhere will take those now. Where am I likely to get the most $$ in the Triangle? I’m willing to drive basically anywhere.

Best moving company in Raleigh!

Hey all! I just wanted to shout out Box Turtle Moving Co if anyone is looking for reliable and great movers in Raleigh or in the triangle area. They were incredible and I cannot say enough nice things about the guys they sent out to me. If you need movers I would highly recommend them.

Plant care services?

I have a few large monstera plants that I've cared for and loved for many years, and those babies are getting pretty huge! They really need a re-staking (and probably longer moss poles) and although I keep thinking I'm going to do it myself, I'm finding their size and heaviness to be super daunting.

Does anyone know of a place that offers services like staking plants? I know some nurseries do this kind of thing, but I can't seem to find one in the area that does.

Thanks!

Top Omakase Experiences In RTP - 2024

What’s the best omakase experience you’ve had in the Triangle?

To provide a great comment: explain if it was a single dinner service or an option on the menu, where you sat in the restaurant, (either the sushi bar or a table), and the cost if you can remember!

RDU needs a cookout

The title pretty much says it. How cool would it be to have a cookout tray with a milkshake on your flight. It’s a Raleigh based company, and most people enjoy it. If RDU is trying to give a “local feel” this would be it.

Reddit, how do we get this done? 😂 😂 🍔 🍟 🍦

Edit: I was not aware it is not raleigh based. Still would be a good cheap option though compared to all the other crap food.

Looking for a good psychiatrist

I am looking for a good psychiatrist in the triangle area. For a while now my GP has prescribed my meds for anxiety/depression and ADHD but I am feeling like my meds and doses are off and I want to see someone who understands the mental health issues I have and would have a better idea of the dose and med I should be taking. I’m in Apex but willing to go to Raleigh, Durham or Cary too! TIA!

Inn/BNB?

Trying to do a little weekend staycation with the Mrs and hoping for some suggestions on cute and/or historic and/or nice inn/bed and breakfast or romantic type places near the triangle. I know Umstead but the price is insane for my dates. Having trouble searching through because so many are just standard hotels. Happy to go near Fuquay or Pittsboro so like 45 minutes from Cary area ish. I don't mind something in Raleigh city area if it's like boutique or historic, just don't want to bring her to the hampton inn for a mediocre weinering.

Appreciate any insight and suggestions.

edit: So far we're probably looking at Colonial, Carolina, or Longleaf at this stage. These are really great suggestions and I'm saving all these spots, so many awesome placed I didn't know were here!
