The veto override votes have been scheduled in both house and Senate Tomorrow, Tuesday 5/16.
Calls to action for now until tomorrow :
Contact these four folks and beg them to not strip us of our basic right to bodily Autonomy.
Rep. John Bradford: 919-733-5828 Rep. Tricia Cotham: 919-733-5749 Rep. Ted Davis: 919-733-5786 Sen. Michael Lee: 919-715-2525
We're not sharing a script and encouraging folks to be kind, but honest, about their opposition. Tell your abortion story if it feels safe.
Call to action for Tuesday: If you can, arrive at NCGA by 3:20 to ensure you can get in, and grab a seat, before 4 PM.
Prepare to be there a while - Don't bring a poster unless your OK leaving it outside the gallery. Water bottles and food is not permitted inside either.
You will be in good company! Make sure the NCGA doesn't pass this thing quietly and without an audience of the very same people who will vote them out.
Hey y'all, I'm working on a new startup that's trying to address the housing challenges in the Southeast.
While we're still really new in our venture, and don't have any solutions quite yet, we're learning quick of all the different problems with attainability people have.
We'd love to learn from people that have recently rented (past year) or looking to rent in the next year.
Here's a quick form with a few questions and a link to our calendar (at the end), but would really appreciate hearing from you on a 30min phone call and getting your help actually solving this problem.

Trying to find out if there's any tech events in Wake Forest. If not, would like to get a sense of how interested Wake Forest would be in some kind of tech events like meetups.
The Role: We are seeking parents or primary caregivers of young children living in North Carolina to join a diverse Community Research Board for ongoing discussions about genetic testing for children. This is not a clinical trial, and you will NOT be asked to participate in any type of genetic testing. We welcome respectful discussions of all views about genetic testing for children to increase awareness and understanding about different perspectives. Your time and effort will be reimbursed at $50.00/hour via a prepaid Visa card.
Who We Are: The Community Research Board (also CRB or the Board) has been meeting since May 2020 and is a crucial part of a research team that also includes researchers from the University of North Carolina Program for Precision Medicine in Healthcare (PPMH). Board members (4 males and 4 females;; avg. 33.8yr; 15 children ages 0-16yr) currently represent urban, suburban, and rural communities in North Carolina, and have diverse racial/ethnic backgrounds and varying health insurance coverage, each with a high school education or above, and with views that ranging from ‘strongly support’ to ‘do not support’ genetic testing for children.
Participation: The CRB is an ongoing group effort and we envision that its important work will continue for no less than 3-5 years. Currently, the Board meets for 90 minutes on the second Thursday of every other month from 7:15 to 8:45 pm. Six regularly scheduled meetings are planned for 2022, with additional paid research and consulting opportunities available. Meetings are virtual and also casual and cordial; we hope to find new members who are comfortable talking on Zoom. Cameos by children and pets, snacking or eating dinner, and going off camera for goodnight hugs and kisses are all expected and encouraged.
To Move Forward: If you are interested in joining us, please complete this brief Google Forms survey to share a little bit about yourself and your perspectives about genetic testing (we are actively seeking parents/caregivers who will respectfully represent critical perspectives about genetic testing). The CRB is committed to respecting and accepting all viewpoints on this issue. If you would like additional information, please email Laura Milko: laura_milko@med.unc.edu. You should receive a response within 2 weeks of completing the survey.

Stores have been out for weeks if not months, can someone tell me where to go?
North Carolina has a $3,000,000,000 (3 Billion Dollars) Unemployment Fund and Our Country’s Most Restrictive Unemployment Benefits.
Our Leadership – Past and Present – have set up for failure: (1) Too Few, (2) Too Short, and (3) Too Little
Based on 3rd Quarter 2018 Data (Source: North Carolina Justice Center):
Too Few: 90.09% of North Carolinians will be DENIED access to $3 Billion Dollars
Too Short: 8.92 weeks is the average duration. 26 weeks is the norm across the NATION.
Too Little: $261.10/week is the average amount. $350/week is the maximum amount.
The Bottom Line:
270,270 North Carolinians are DENIED access to $3,000,000,000 Unemployment Fund
29,730 North Carolinians receive $2329.00 (total amount!) out of $3,000,000,000 Unemployment Fund.
300,000 unemployment claims.
How are “The Winners” From A Broken System: 9.91% of North Carolinians will receive $2329.00.
I am OUTRAGED that ALL Elected Officials do not have a UNIVERSAL COMMITMENT to OPEN THE FUND to North Carolinians who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own. For example, my elected official has the audacity to say “we’ll think about this” and “after all this is over” and “possible assistance” and he is on the committee that makes a KEY DECISION.
I want public commitment by elected officials for “urgency” and “fighting for bigger checks” and “quick reform”! CRIME is going up in my neighborhood. MEDICATION is unaffordable. RENT is eventually going to be due. FOOD needs to be on the table. NEEDS are not met. PLEASE HELP ME get our legislators to act. THEY have a check. THE UNEMPLOYED are not getting checks. MONEY is there.
THEY are screwing us and I’m outraged! WHERE’S my check? THANK YOU.

24 year old male new to the area and just looking for new friends. Would like to just chat and get to know each other before we meet up. Text back and forth and get to know you a bit. Don't know a lot of people so I am looking for people to do stuff with like just chat with over text, or go out to movies, go to concerts, go to the mall, go out to eat, go to parks amd hangout and just chill, go hiking etc. I'm pretty open minded so long as it isn't super extreme or anything I'm a bit of a nerd and like all the things such as marvel, DC, game of thrones, Dnd, etc. So a plus if you like any of that. Just looking for open minded people who would want to do fun activities around the triangle area. Bonus if you have any dogs
I'm a photographer who is producing a commercial photoshoot that requires a snake that is black. The owner of the snake would be compensated for their time and the snake would be photographed resting on a cardboard tube.
If you know someone who has a snake that I could contact, DM me, or if you have any thoughts on where I might find a snake that is black in the area, I'm open to ideas!
Thanks!
Hi all! You may remember me from my occasional postings throughout the years looking for volunteers - I am back!
We have met so many wonderful Raleigh redditors who turned into amazing volunteers so I am always excited to share this opportunity with folks in the area again <3
Our group volunteers with a local abortion care provider to greet patients as they arrive and escort them into the facility, past protesters.
We are client focused, which means we do not engage with the protesters. Basically, this is a great gig for anyone who wants to do more direct access work on the abortion issue who also won't feel super compelled to just come to argue with protesters the entire time lol.
We are an incredibly easy to get involved with and FLEXIBLE volunteer group! While shift times are firm, we do NOT have commitment requirements or shift signup requirements. We simply ask for folks to come out and join us when they can and as often as they can handle.
We need help Monday - Saturday in the AM hours (between 8 AM - 11 AM typically).
If you are interested in getting involved just send us an email!
