For my birthday, I want to get people to donate to local charities! Here’s some I have so far but is there any other LOCAL ones?
-international house -CLT harm reduction center -PP -TOY
Today is my first time going to a Panthers game. I am considering pre-purchasing parking at S. Mint Street. I am told there is always road closures detours, etc. and I am curious what’s the smartest route for getting to that parking garage. I will be coming from north of the city and can take either I77 or I85.
Hands on Charlotte? When I first moved to Charlotte back in the early 2000s I used to volunteer with them a lot. Then life got busy and I stopped for a while. Google search says they are temporarily closed. Anyone know what happened?
I really want to get into wood working and home improvement stuff like build a porch, some desks, cabinets, etc.
I was just wondering if yall have any tips on how to do this stuff on the cheap. I've been finding some wood pallets on offerup to take apart but I don't even have any tools so I guess I have to start there.
Is there a good way to find power tools and wood on a budget or free if anyone doesn't need them anymore? I'll build you a table in return haha
At least I think. During “rockets red glare” people shouted at red.
Was that some kind of political thing?
E: seems to be a normal thing to call out your team. Maybe I’ve never noticed at other games because this anthem was a trumpet player without anyone singing.
Has anyone gotten a lawn pass for PNC Pavilion before? I'm trying to research getting one for 2025 but I can't find any information on it. When do they usually go on sale? Do they sell out really fast?
Hey Charlotte,
Curious where ya’ll getting your asses kicked so I can go get mine too. It’s been a while and I need to humble myself here in the south. I’ve taken some bjj, muy Thai, karate, etc in the past and maybe skirt my way to intermediate but also I get that it’s a student mentality. Definitely looking for gyms that takes the culture more seriously than not! Thanks!
Included pic so you know what my level of fitness might be when suggesting. Maybe irrelevant I can’t take down pic
Here it is Charlotte! It's super simple. Take a frown and turn it upside down! Nothin' but love here. The idea is quite simple...
If you have something NICE and/or POSITIVE to say about a local person place or thing (sure, lets include big box stores, and franchises) that gave you a smile or just plain made life a little less stressful at some point in the last week, show some love! Take a break from the tirade thread, and feel good while doing it! Maybe your good vibes will cause a ripple effect, and send a smile to someone else, or give them the motivation to get up, get out, and enjoy this beautiful thing called life, and do so in our city! This is a win/win situation. Why not take advantage of it?
Hi everyone,
I’m facing some personal matters that require me to travel back to my home country for a while, and I’m looking for a trustworthy place where I can leave my dog during that time. Ideally, I’d like to find a sanctuary or a similar environment where he can be well cared for, get some socialization, and feel comfortable while I’m away.
Does anyone have recommendations for good dog care facilities or sanctuaries around the charlottearea? (Although i can travel for him) I’d really appreciate any advice or suggestions!
Thanks in advance!

Went to a McDonald’s an hour away and they had hot n spicy McChicken’s on the menu. Went to a McDonald’s close to me, no hot n spicy McChickens. Got some of my friends involved and 2/5 found one at their local one, only some have it on the menu. Anyone know if there’s any McDonald’s in Charlotte who sell them?
Any movie theaters here that actually make you be quiet? or theaters where people are generally quiet at least? Last few times I've gone to see a movie, people are having a conversation/watching videos on their phone with their sound on through the whole movie. Are there any theaters here where you don't have to deal with that? I doubt it but I'm hopeful
I moved here about 4 years ago from Kannapolis and I remember it used to be more chill. It might just be me ,but I wonder if others feel the same . I know it depends on the area but I feel like it’s happened through the whole city . What do you think?
Still up this season in South Park?
Help a girl out
First off, thank you all for the recommendations. My wife and I had a fantastic Thanksgiving weekend. Everyone we met was sensational and made us feel at home. The food was great and the breweries off York and Uptown were excellent, (especially 4001 Yancey, Sugar Creek, and Graham St Pub). Jealous you guys have local rails that run all around the area, we used it multiple times and it was always the most efficient transportation, I wish we had more of those in Florida.
One problem... The vast majority of you cannot drive, and that's coming from a Floridian.... Do you know how bad a driver you have to be for a Floridian to notice? I come from the land of the elderly and New York drivers, I've seen some shit you wouldn't believe back home. But here, blatant red-light running, swerving in and out of traffic, constantly tailgated for doing 5 mph over the limit in an area I don't know. Y'all are watching too much NASCAR up here. Slightly kidding, but we were definitely taken back by how scary it was to drive around here.
Great weather, people, and food. We'll be back soon, but I'm flying in next time.
Just curious what the good folks here think. Arriving with the wife and kids around 5-6ish. What would be a faster/cheaper way to Matthews from the airport, ride share or taxi? Should be a straight shot around 485. What do you think?
My family loves egg foo young, and we've been getting it from Shun Lee Palace for years, but it seems they aren't selling it anymore. I'd love any recommendations for decent Chinese places that have it, preferably in the Plaza/Sheffield area.
me and my partner are visiting Charlotte for the first time around NYE. I was just wondering what the best seasonal things to do around this time of year are. If there are any places, things or restaurants we should try, please let me know! We are going to be there for about 4-5 days and are also looking at apartments (we plan to move sometime in the next year).
Hi everyone, just moved here today due to schooling and really don’t know anything about charlotte or around the area, any places worth checking out? If it helps I’m a male and 21 yrs old. Thanks!
What's up with them. Why does a sushi place have like 4+ kids size coffins behind them? They're getting more every so often.
A space ship, a truck, a comic book themed one? I'm just lost. It's weird. They've been there for months with just more joining.
Typical Altima activity in Charlotte. 😂😂😂
A family member came in from out of state and built a ramp off Mom’s deck. The long section is ok, but we lovingly refer to the bottom section as “the ramp of death.”
We’re looking for someone to redo the Ramp of Death (TM)— either A: move the fence and extend the upper section, or B: keep the fence and build a longer lower section parallel to the upper section (180°).
This isn’t a complicated project, but we need solid work and we need it… last week?
Also, PSA: Do your safety and age-in-place stuff NOW. It’s not too early!
Has anyone done flying lessons at Charlotte-Douglas or Concord? I’m looking around but it’s not very easy to get quotes on how much it would cost and what the actual experience is.
This is just for casual fun, I’m not looking to become a professional pilot.
I have a 7 1/2 hour layover in CLT next month (I tried so hard to move flights but I can't).
I have pre-check so I probably can do something outside of the airport (depending on the uber situation) or if there is any place to hang out for a while in the airport, I'm open to that.
Just for context, I'm a woman in her 20s traveling solo, so safe suggestions, please.
Adding dates & times: Jan 3rd, first flight lands a bit before 1:30 PM, second flight takes off 9:25 PM. I'm also flying American if that matters.
