What do yall think about the waxing services at Aveda Institute. I was thinking of getting a full leg wax from there. The price is good but I’m unsure whether it’s too good to be true
My cousin is moving to Chapel Hill and asked me to help research the area because, apparently, I’m the “internet detective” of the family. They’re coming from a much smaller town where rent is way cheaper, so adjusting to the market here has been a bit of a shock.
They’re looking for a 1-2 bedroom rental in a safe, walkable neighborhood that isn’t completely dead after 8 PM. Budget is around $1,800/month max, but obviously, lower would be better. Community is also a big deal for them—they don’t want to feel isolated in an apartment where everyone just keeps to themselves.
For those of you living in Chapel Hill or Carrboro, what’s the vibe like? Are there neighborhoods that strike a good balance between affordability, walkability, and a bit of life? And what’s the rental market like right now?
I thought Chapel Hill takeout (classics like Spicy 9) had been going downhill, but realized something incredibly stupid: I’ve also been using DoorDash pretty exclusively for the last year or so. No coincidence.
Now I’ve been just calling the restaurants, picking up in person, and… like magic… it’s all cheaper and not lukewarm.
Any recommendations for takeout in the area now that I’ve deleted that app?
Anyone know where there are 8’ hoops for little kids?
Edit: I mean hoops at a park or other public place.
Anyone know where there are public 8’ hoops in the area?

Looking for recommendations on local progressive groups to volunteer with. I’m so sick with rage over what’s going on in this country right now, I’d really like to get involved.
Hi, I'm looking to sublease my Lark apartment for the summer (May 7th-July 22nd). Details are listed below, please contact me if interested:
Hey everyone,
I’m 23F and looking to make some new friends. I have a couple of friends, but our schedules don’t always align, so it’s hard to find time to hang out outside of work. I’m hoping to meet some new people to spend time with.
I’m the DUFF of my group, introverted, and autistic—just looking for down-to-earth people to vibe with.
I enjoy movies, building LEGOs, horse-back riding, puzzles, food, playing soccer, drawing, and hanging with my dogs, and would love to connect with both guys and girls.
I’m also hoping to find people who can help me have some experiences that many people my age have already had, whether that’s exploring new social situations or just trying new things in general.
If you’re also looking to make new friends or just want to chat, feel free to reach out!
P.S. If you don’t know what a DUFF is, I can explain. :)
I know how historic North Carolina is to professional wrestling, so I thought this would be too good not to share! Graffiti in downtown Cary is hosting a game watch party for the royal rumble tomorrow night! There is even going to be a costume contest (with prizes) and themed drinks! It should be fun! Feel free to share this with anybody you know that might be interested!

At UNCG i had a 4.0 GPA in the fall semester, I took 16 credit hours, I completed college level chemistry in summer 2024 at waketech. I am taking 23 credits right now. I am done with calculus 1, chemistry with lab and eng 101. I am enrolled in calc based physics, calculus 2 and other gen eds. I will be having around 50 credits when I transfer. I have good ecs, having a goldman sachs possibilty summit internship, I participated in intramural soccer at UNCG, and I am also a president of a meditation club on campus and I also have a 1430 SAT score. What are my chances for a fall 2025 transfer.
Looking to pick a pizza up after the UNC game tonight and was looking for best recommendations!
Finally!!! Our school district will have to answer for the damage they have done. Finally, there will be oversight. Rejoice!
I know that this is a long shot but I'm looking for people who would be interested in meeting every couple of weeks to study Hungarian. I want to cover some grammar and vocabulary and doing it with others might keep me on track. I'm in Chapel Hill near Carrboro but willing to drive a bit.
Heard from someone I trust. Please be careful, be vigilant, and know your rights. As a community we can keep those we care about safe
Hi everyone. Train enthusiast here. Just moved to Chapel Hill. Does anyone know the Carrboro coal train schedule? Someone told me it was every day, but I've also heard otherwise. I've only caught it once, North-bound on a Monday at roughly 9:58 am. Thanks.
Hey Chapel Hill folks,
For the past few days in January, I’ve been hearing a persistent high-pitched noise early in the morning near Willow Drive. It usually happens around 4:00AM-6:00AM
It’s not the usual traffic or construction sounds—it’s more of a sharp, high-frequency tone. I’m wondering if anyone else in the area has noticed this or knows what it might be? Could it be from some utility work, or maybe a mechanical system running at odd hours?
Would like to hear if others have experienced the same thing or have any ideas about what it could be. Thanks!
Just moved to the area from Charleston and rolled the dice on selecting 2 gentlemen from TaskRabbit to help unload my family of 4's belongings from a 20ft U-Haul. I wanted to hire a professional moving company, but was already feeling the pressure of the move financially. Shoutout Kevin and Mesut for making our move-in a breeze. It was about as stress free as possible with 2 kids under the age of 5 running around.
I promised to share a link, but don't really have anyone in the area to share it with yet, so hoping I can pay it forward and help somebody out in this community: https://tr.co/kevin-c--116
Please provide me with any information you have, good or bad
hey, i desperately need a job. like im broke broke. and ive sent in sooooo many applications to places that are hiring but they never respond. does anyone know how i can get a job around here? im from asheville and ive never had trouble getting a job there so this experience is so foreign to me
But I'm really kind of concerned about the seeming increase of loud cars hauling ass down Fordham with their "upgraded" exhaust or whatever. Hopefully not victory laps for deplorable "victories."
Hi! I am an older lady who has undergone some skin changes due to age and reactions to medication. The makeup and techniques I used to use no longer suit me, so I would like an independent makeup artist to teach me new techniques and recommend products/ colors to use.
Yes, I know there are folks at Ulta and every makeup counter at the mall who would do my makeup, but I’m wanting someone independent to help. And yes, I’m willing to pay for the consultation.
Thanks!
