New Subreddit For Helene Free Labor Volunteers in Asheville

Hey all, l've had many many people asking if they can help with cleanup efforts after the flood. I've gotten plugged in with some community organizers. This is for laborers only not search and rescue or social services of any kind. This is a private group and I'll need to ok you with a quick chat before you're let in. There's some warnings and disclosures you must read and agree to before joining the sub. First step is to request to join here but if you’re having a hard time just send me a private chat.

Lost cat

My friend has lost his cat. Her name is Ember but doesn’t often respond to it. She’s a diluted long hair tabby and is very skiddish. If you see her try to coax her into coming to you but if that doesn’t work call me at (919)935-3496 and let me know the location. If you find her also call me.

Call Rep Paré and ask her to vote against HB10

This is the school voucher bill that would rob public schools to give taxpayer money to private and religious schools. It would also require county sheriffs to cooperate with ICE.

This will weaken our great schools in Wake County and probably lead to increased property taxes to make up for the lack of funding from the state.

Also, many business around here rely on migrant labor. We don't need to encourage ICE or the police to harass migrant workers.

Consider giving Erin Paré a call. It will take a lot because she's a sponsor of the bill. Just be nice and remind her that the bill is terrible. Hold your tongue and don't tell her she's terrible. Her number can be found on her page.

Birthday Venues for Kids

My son is turning 3 and I'm curious where folks have had/attended birthday parties for young children in the area. I know there are several options, but looking for some testimonials to narrow it down. Thanks!

Arborist recommendations

I recently purchased a home in town and there are a few trees that I would like to have assessed by a professional arborist. I see that there are several companies in the area but was curious if anyone has any recommendations before I pick one. Thank you in advance!

Trying to find a food truck for a neighborhood event on 8/12

We had a food truck just back out of a event our neighborhood is hosting on 8/12, we are having trouble finding anyone that isn't booked already, I'm hoping someone here might know of a truck that might be able to come out that is local?

Bike Routes

Hi all. I was wondering if anyone here is into road biking and what sort of routes they take around the area?

I am technically in Willow Springs off Old Stage Rd, but even some of these farm roads freak me out a bit the way some people drive.

Are there any other roads that I should stear clear of and maybe some other less trafficked roads/routes?

Thanks.

What do you pay for Water UItilities?

I'd like to hear from other Fuquay residents about your average water bill.

Since moving to Fuquay three months ago, my water bill has more than doubled from when I lived in Garner. For a household of two people, we are paying around $145 a month. This does include sewer, but even then I find this to be extremely high.

We were out of town for 10 days and also stopped all watering of our lawn after seeing last months bill which was $148.20 (28 days). This month's bill is $141.94 (33 days). Trying to make sense of this. Thanks!

Stairs to workout on?

hey, pretty new to the area. But I’m looking for advice on a good place around here that just has a decently long flight of stairs I can walk up and down on?

Trying to prepare for a big elevation hiking trip, and this is the top workout prep.
