Hi there, I’m currently facing food insecurity and haven’t been able to eat since Friday. Would love is someone could please let me know if there are any food banks or soup kitchens open today? I’ve tried searching online, but all the places I’ve found seem to be only open during the week. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Seattle’s housing market appears to be following a trajectory similar to Vancouver’s. As someone working in FAANG, I have firsthand knowledge of so many H-1B visa holders owning multiple single-family homes purely as investments, along with foreign investors mostly from China who hold more than ten properties in the area.
Politicians often stress the need for more housing construction, but we all know it will take decades and likely won’t keep up, as investors can simply acquire more properties, making it even harder for residents to compete.
To unlock supply more immediately, I believe the most effective approach would be to impose penalties on second-home ownership, as well as on foreign and private equity investors. Yet, I haven’t seen any politicians pushing for this. Why?
On Tuesday, January 28th, the Cle Elum City Council voted 4-2 to approve a motion to authorize Mayor Lundh to file Chapter 9 municipal bankruptcy, and hire John Kaplan as counsel for this purpose.

For almost 10 years I have lived and still live in seattle.
As an autistic straight male in my early 40s it's a struggle to make new friends.
Today I was at the Alderwood mall in Lynnwood all alone. As I walked through the mall I saw most people with friends or husbands/wife's or boyfriends/girlfriends together.
In my 1 bedroom apartment im very lonley. I live in northgate
Im open to both male and female friends. Im also opened to meeting a other austic people as friends as well.
Anyone have any suggestions??
I have no family here in seattle either
Hi everyone!
We are flying into Seattle in April - landing around 5pm and staying at Crowne Plaza. I have seen plenty of mentions about 3rd street being unsafe during the night. Checking our options for getting to the hotel, we could take the Link Rail and walk 7 minutes - but we’d have to walk a part of the 3rd street and it will potentially be already dark since we have to clear immigration first.
Do you think this is safe or should we rather take Uber which is 10x the price?
Thank you!
When my lease in northgate seattle expires in August 2025 I'm seriously considering moving to Lynnwood or the Eastside due to crime in seattle city limits and my local nieghborhood.
Does anyone else feel the same way as me??
Housemate and I were walking our dogs when we saw an off-leash dog in the middle of the park. Couldn't really tell in the dark but kind of had the profile. Wasn't hostile or aggressive, my dog seemed like he wanted play with him. He ended up running off towards the corner of 5th and 112th.
I’d like to take my wife to a very nice dinner, and she wants geoduck. Not worried about price. And will stay overnight since it’s a bit of a drive for us.
The only reliable Geoduck I see is at Taylor Shellfish locations. Any other recommendations?
Thanks!
I support building more housing but am curious if it will actually make any difference because as supply goes up demand will also go up for any desirable place.
I can’t think of any desirable (nice or mild weather, natural amenities, good economy) big city that is not expensive to live in. Seattle, San Francisco, San Diego, LA, NYC, Honolulu, Denver all have the exact same problem no matter what initiatives they have tried. If they become cheaper, more people will move there and available supply again is decreased. On the other hand, anyone can go to Detroit and live more affordably but for obvious reasons people would rather live in one of the cities I initially mentioned if they can afford it.
So, is there any hope that building more can actually help? Has any desirable city actually made this happen?
From Texas and we are heading to the city birth place of grunge music in Seattle on Monday. Any recommendations for Ramen shop, comic book stores, record vinyl stores, Pho and art and nature scenes y'all recommend?
I’ve looked in Olympia-we used to carry in Fred Meyer and Ralph’s but they no longer carry them. I’m willing to drive up to Seattle to get them, I prefer to not use Amazon. Anyone seen them?
