Looking for a vet where it doesn’t take weeks to be seen. Called around this past spring it was a month to see anyone unless I wanted to pay an urgent appointment fee. I live in silverdale, I’m willing to travel 20 mins for the right place.
Do you guys know of any parks that have good lighting after dark? Or just fun indoor spaces that are open in the evening?
It’s tough out here living in a small apartment lol. I could come up with loads of indoor activities sure, but during the weekdays I’d still like to get out!
edit: thanks everyone for the responses.
Hello, I'm looking for Kitsap County meeting places that are accessible and would accommodate both a couple dozen in-person attendees, as well as tech for remote attendees, such as internet, outlet, and a screen.
Any ideas on this would be much appreciated. Thank you!
My husband and I have been trying to build a house in the area. We did all the surveys and submitted our permits and the county has been super difficult. They keep wanting more info and not replying to us for months when we get them the follow up information they want. They told us just today we will need to get a 2nd survey done cause they want a 2nd opinion. But they pick the company this time even though the company we went through we got off the county website. The survery is going to cost us another 10,000. Is this normal!?
Was driving past the burger King and there was a emptied bus with a large amount of police on all sides. There was a red truck with multiple things circled on the ground.
Hey Kitsap - I just moved to the area and one of the things I had wanted to do once I had the space at home was to learn to weld/metalworking as a hobby.
I've been searching online and I can't find anything in Kitsap county that leans towards the hobbyist looking to get started, most of the welding education I can find are geared towards career minded goals (makes sense given the shipyards).
Is anyone aware of a art center/DIY/hobbyist center in Kitsap county (specifically Bremerton for convenience) has anything like that? I was hoping for something like a hackerspace or art space (like the Pratt center in Seattle) closer to home. Thanks!
Are there any community events or Buddhist centers that offer open silent meditation in Kitsap? I'm in Poulsbo, but willing to drive fairly far for something like a weekly practice.
I have some gently used, name brand women's business casual/dress clothes that I would like to donate somewhere that would get them into hands that really need them. (Not someplace with a storefront like Goodwill) Anyone have a suggested women's shelter or other similar places I can bring them? I'd also favor a place not religiously tied.
As Dr. Niran Al-Agba says in the Kitsap Sun: "While we may not yet know the environmental impact of the CCA, we should celebrate its economic windfall... Fully $42 million of CCA revenue has been allocated to build new ferries, which we desperately need. Ferries are a quintessential symbol of this beautiful state."
Here's why I-2117 (which would repeal the CCA) is terrible for our ferry system:
Looking for local recs, some places we have been to so far don’t offer those!
Edit: the soup and salad is typically served along with hibachi meals. It’s referred to as clear soup or hibachi soup.
Yesterday around 4:40 pm, I was heading to the grocery store in Port Orchard when traffic began backing up near the intersection of Lippert and Sidney (by the Carstar body shop). It was odd, as there was no school bus or obvious cause. Suddenly, I noticed people getting out of their cars and saw a maybe 8-year-old child, wearing only underwear, running down the shoulder of the road in the pouring rain. The child was darting between cars, trying to evade people attempting to get them off the road.
A group of bystanders almost managed to corral the child in front of Carstar, but the kid then sprinted down Lippert. Traffic resumed, and as I passed, I saw that one of the bystanders had caught the child and was carrying them back up the street. About 20 minutes later, I drove by again and saw that the backup had cleared, with Port Orchard Police on the scene interviewing several of the bystanders who had helped.
It was quite a sight—likely a dozen people involved—and I couldn’t help but wonder what was going on and if the child is okay. It’s not every day you see a barefoot kid in underwear running along the road in 45-degree rain.
Since all disabled vets can use NEX and commissary as well as MWR facilities has anyone done it? What kind of hassle did you get at the gate, hassle while shopping etc
Wanting to know if you think of Halloween with these?
"Rural Residential Zone" Uses in Washington State
I'm confused about what I could do on a property I'm interested in in western Washington State. The property is over 4.5 acres of land (ideal for a small farm) with a manufactured home on a foundation. The county zone is listed as "Rural Residential." There is only 1 Dwelling Unit allowed per 5 acres, and the following are allowed:
Generally, I can do a lot with the land, but I'm having trouble with the limitation of only 1 DU/5 acres if the above is also true...
For example, could I technically do 1 primary residence, 1 detached ADU, 1 single family detached, 1 bed and breakfast, and 1 vacation rental?
I'm NOT saying I'll do all those things, but if I wanted to offer a farm stay or a long-term rental to bring in income, or eventually have my parents live on the land in a small residence as well, are those allowed?
Does the limit of 1 DU/5 acres mean that you can ONLY have a primary residence and none of the other things? There seems to be no other building limit in the county code... Thanks for your input!
Restaurant after restaurant I try the refried beans suck. I love beans. I will drive anywhere.
According to the state website, my election ballot was mailed out 10/18. I called the county this past Friday and they said I should have received it by now.
Rather than request a replacement ballot be mailed, I decided then that I'll just vote in person.
Anyone else not receive their mail in ballot?
EDIT: Really glad that most of you received yours!
Hey neighbors,
I have a medical procedure scheduled for December 26 that requires me to bring a companion that would both wait for me on site (two hours) and drive me home.
The procedure is in Silverdale and I live in Bainbridge Island.
This would be compensated.
Please PM me if you think you might be able to help. Thank you.
EDIT:
Thank you to those who messaged me and responded. I was able to hire a local acquaintance. Mods, thanks for letting me post.
Hello all, We just moved to the Silverdale/Poulsbo area and all of our cooking stuff is a few days behind on the moving pod. In the meantime we’re looking for any food recommendations that are decent or you get a good portion size for the money. Thanks for any tips!!
My partner and I have set out to find the best wings in Kitsap. We've only tried a few places on this quest, but our favorite so far is Horse and Cow in Bremerton.
Please tell us you're favorite wings in (or near) Kitsap! Any particular stand out flavors? Pretty good but convenient/cheap is also appreciated.
We're in Port Orchard. (We really liked Flying Boot in Tacoma, but that's not Kitsap)
We are in N kitsap and have had an outage of internet since Saturday around 230 pm. Curious how widespread it is and if anyone has any info? (other than the rather vague information and estimates Centurylink's customer service has provided) Edit: please only comment on the outage. We do not need advice about internet providers atm Thank you
Looking to off-road my Chevy Avalanche, where are the entrances to the trails outside Belfair? Or other close trails?
I have an old (1971) Yamaha enduro I’m having trouble with. Thought I’d see if anyone had any advice on who to go to in Kitsap or in the vicinity that works on vintage bikes.
Hi all, moving out to Poulsbo in December and trying to plan my 5x per week commute into the city…
My options are about 20 min drive to Bremerton fast ferry, then 30 min crossing.
Or about 40 min drive to Southworth fast ferry, then 26 min crossing.
I’ve read a lot about from months ago about how early you have to arrive for the Bremerton fast ferry, which isn’t really the case with southworth? Is this still true? How often do you have to arrive to reliably make it on to the Bremerton vs south worth ferry? How about parking differences? If I need to arrive 30+ min early to Bremerton to make it on, the difference in drive time would be made up for driving to southworth.
Thank you in advance!
Hello! For the holidays this year I’d like to give my child some time riding a horse/pony . My kid is under 3.5 years so they will need something age appropriate. Anyone know of anywhere that does gift certificates for this sort of thing? I imagine she will only need an hour and then want to do something else. The riding doesn’t need to be in December, I’d just like to be able to gift it to them then.
Thanks in advance!
Initiative 2117, or I-2117, would repeal the 2021 Climate Commitment Act (CCA), which funds the Move Ahead Washington legislation that allocates $3 billion to public transit over 16 years. Kitsap Transit received about $12 million in operational funding support through the CCA in the 2023-2025 state budget as well as $3.84 million in capital funding for charging infrastructure to power its electric buses.
Looking to take my family apple picking this weekend and wanted to know if there’s anywhere noteworthy we should check out!
I can’t find anything to do for Halloween. I would love to socialize and find some friends but not at a bar or around a bunch of drunk people. Any ideas?
