Hey everybody! Just moved up to the silver lake area and I was wondering if any of you have fished here before? I know it’s stocked but I have heard some things about the fish there being kinda sketchy to eat. Are they safe to eat or did the Everett ambiance make them toxic or something?
I just started Kayak fishing Merwin this year, and I’m reading reports that the Lake is in “turnover,” when the bite completely dies. Does anyone know how long it usually lasts, or when the bite will be back on?
Hi all, I am looking for a good place to fish as a beginner. I am in King County and willing to drive about an hour and a half any direction. I want to learn to fish for any type of trout. Any recommendations welcomed. Thank you! 🥰
Is the parking lot for the launch big enough to turn around with a saltwater fishing boat? Boat and truck together are around 55' LOA. Just need a calm body of water to calibrate the course computer on my boats autopilot.
Hey, new angler here. I recently got a small Jon boat and a trolling motor. Does anybody have any info on Nolte state park? I e tried lake holms, lake Bonney, and lake Whitman. I’m trying to branch out. I fish for mostly trout but can set up for bass too. Thanks for any advice or info
I am newer to fishing in this area (Western WA), just getting my first try at it last year. Where I am from, we dont have all these streams and mountains so I am not used to the patterns just yet. Anyways, I tried fishing in early may last year and the water was so high in fast everywhere I went there was no chance I could fish it. Is that just the reality of fishing streams this early in the year or was I just having bad luck picking?
I am shore bound, so I try to avoid lakes, I have never caught anything doing that. Last thing I wanted to mention is back home was all bass fishing so I probably am just bad at knowing where to find lake trout.
What’s up y’all,
Was wondering if anyone had experience going for ling cod off the piers in Puget Sound and what type of set up you used for it?
Was considering floating some herring under a bobber, or dragging a fake sand dab across the bottom but would appreciate any tips!
Thank you
Hello. My wife is from Washington, I am from Canada.
Our nephew wants to learn to fish and I was going to teach him. I am trying to get to know the trout regulations.
I understand single barbless is preffered. But the bait aspect im fuzzy on.
We want to teach our 5 year old nephew whom is interested in angling, how to fish lakes and ponds.
Is floating powerbait ok to use with a Carolina rig? Or is there something else I should be using? I dont use stink additives or scented powerbait eggs. Any advice would be welcome.
Any suggestions for alpine or sub alpine lake trout fishing from the shore in Western Washington with good backpacking as well?
I know trout is 5 to keep, but what about groups of people? For example, John Jim and Jane have fishing licenses and they fish together, does that mean they can all take 15 fish?
Title says it all, I am not sure where you go catfishing in Seattle area, anybody know?
Happy trout derby opening day! If you're poaching... GET FUCKED
Just started river fishing, looking for some tips on bank fishing for Chinooks in the skagit. What are some good spots to fish between the memorial bridge and Gilligan creek?
Procrastinating on work a bit too much this week and found it a bit of a pain going page by page through the list of lakes for this year's Trout Derby. I decided to throw it into a map view & share in case anyone else might find it easier to scan for participating lakes nearby.
I've recently started fishing in the Puget Sound and I thought it might be cool to head west and do some fishing on the jetties in either Ocean Shores or Westport.
Any advice on how to go about it. Specifically, what kind of gear should I have? What kind of set up should I use? What should I target? I was thinking either rockfish or Ling cod. Bait? Is there anything else fun to catch out there?
I have an Eagle Claw 8'6' downrigger medium heavy rod with a spinning reel with 30lb braided line. Anything I should change about that?
Was planning on going down to the Columbia to plunk from the bank for some springers. Reading the regs, it looks like it’s freaking closed below Bonneville to buoy 10??! Am I reading something wrong here? How are they going to close spring chinook fishing when spring chinook are running at their peak?
Being that it’s still open above Bonneville dam per the emergency rule change recently, I’m curious if it’s even worth fishing above Bonneville. That seems pretty far up River has anyone had any luck above that dam?
US citizen but live in Vancouver, BC. Trying to find a place to dig geoduck—really hard to get an open beach up here due to awful restrictive regs in BC—worth a separate post: basically everything closed unless they test to open, which they rarely do.
Anyone ever seen them in Birch Bay? We go for butters and little necks but I’ve never gone during the super low summer tides.
Or anywhere else that’s open near us?
Only place I’ve ever dug them is on a private beach in Gig Harbor that I don’t have access to anymore.
I’m going out to Westport over Memorial Day weekend and again later this summer and am looking to fish the jetty. I want to catch some lingcod and maybe some big black rockfish. What part of the jetty is most productive and Carrie’s the biggest fish? I’ve never fished a jetty before and want to learn. Also what are the best soft plastics to throw and what colors. Any advice helps thanks.
Was thinking about going to sammamish and was wondering if anyone had any tips on bait or good places to go anything where as im still pretty novice and just want to get some bites.
I’m interested in catching and eating rainbow trout on June 8-9. Where’s a good spot to do this? I am a beginner but willing to practice on polluted lakes like green lake.
I prefer a place where trout are easiest while being closer to Seattle without much pollution.
Just moved here a few months ago and finally was able to bag a license and time to hit the waters. I’m in snohomish county near Edmonds and am willing to drive to a wadeable river or other shore access! With that being said I’m completely out of my element. I’m a southern fisher where canals and beach access was widely spread and here I’m struggling to find places to walk aswell as how to fish the waters. I don’t have a kayak or boat or anything like that. I’m primarily targeting small mouth and could use some advice on what to use/ where/ and how to present the baits. I would love to be able to walk rocky rivers and fish that way but if anyone knows other places I’d have luck they would be much appreciated!
Edited to include location.
I'm really having trouble trying to figure out what the rules are for fishing for flounder in the south Puget Sound. Namely, Marine area 11. I'm a newbie at it. There seem to be rules for other bottom fish but nothing specific for flounder (starry, sole, dab, whatever). Does that mean that the general 15 fish limit is the rule? Does that also mean that there is no size limit? I ask because I was at the Les Davis pier today and some random redneck was spouting off all of the rules as he saw them like there was a 14" minimum. but I couldn't really verify them in the regulation book. What say thee??
Also, is there no two pole fishing allowed and do I have to use barbless hooks?
Thanks! 🪝
I'm trying to find secluded fishing locations for someone disabled with limited mobility issues a place in the mountains maybe or on a river that I can pull up the car, setup near the car and just easily fish while having to use a walker for mobility. I don't mind driving an hour or two. Based out of Moses Lake WA
Any suggestions?
