I was only getting three things. Having a bad day just felt really defeated. And forgotting my wallet was just icing on the cake. Thank you. You truly don't know what that meant to me. I'll be sure to pay it forward. Thanks again. Sometimes something small can help so much.
I'd like to take my dog with me hiking 😊 on leash of course. I really like Mt. Spokane but don't feel comfortable driving there while it's so icy out. The Bluff is nice but we'd like to explore somewhere new.
Any suggestions close to or in town?
I am doing a school project where I need at least 30 respondents from Spokane. Mods, if you take this post down, please let me know why so I can make adjustments! I am desperate for responses!
Thank you!
Ok so I was on my way to work today and there was this motorcyclist behind me and he was like dancing and vibing to his music I'm guessing, eventually he switched lanes and ended up next to me at a red light and he was of course still dancing but he kept looking back like full head and body turn at me and dude I need to find him. Then sadly the light turned green and he rode off into the sunset never to be seen again. But he had this cover on his helmet that was like one of the elmo lookin ones but it was black with blue and purple frosted tips. And big eyes of course. ANYWAY dude I've never blushed so hard before please help me find him 😂
Do you guys think we will get a significant amount of snow before spring? We’ve really only gotten a dusting and nothing to stick, which is disappointing to me. Yes I know to be careful what I wish for. Will we break this dry spell or will it just be cold and sunny?
My fiancée and I are planning a celebratory dinner with our family, and we're struggling to pick the right place, so I'm looking for some input from our lovely neighbors here on r/Spokane! Here are some goals we have, throw your suggestions our way!
This is an issue both parties should be concerned about. Don't automatically assume that because they're republicans they don't give a shit about privacy and economic stability.

I'll be building a wire deer fence and I'm think of making it also be an arbor to grow hops. Mostly I want the hops for privacy and shade, but I used to homebrew with hops I grew. I'm not really interested in starting to brew again though.
So, assuming I can get them to take in the crappy dry dirt (I won't flatter it by calling it soil) I have to work with, I might have hops available come harvest time. Then again I might not. If the quantity is good I might charge a reasonable price, but it not I'd just give them away. And if the rhizomes don't take then we can just forget I ever posted this.
In the interests of market research what varieties of hops would you want me to potentially have this fall?
Hey !
I already posted here a while ago. I met a really great person already. So, one more reason to try again !
I cannot work yet, so I have free time. Best moment to meet new persons .
- First, I am married. I am only looking for friends.
I suck at description, it's kind of boring. I don't like small talks. Yes, it's me, Sasuke.
I also need a lot of time to recharge my energy. At least, you know.
I like psychology, philosophy, video games (elden ring, divinity II, bg3, darkest dungeon). I think I can be pretty funny when you get to know me.
I love animals and all kind of pure creatures in this world. I never understood why people could be so vicious or mean.
So yeah, you can see a few drawings on my reddit. I drew a bunch of MBTI for those who knows (I digged into that pretty hard, rip).
My PM are open !
So much passion in the sub this week, and I know it can be hard to focus on one issue, and intimidating to make calls or leave voicemails at all. Having worked in this space, I thought it might be helpful to share some tips on making calls in an effective and rational way.
As these calls have to be logged, the best way to ensure your message is effective is to make requests that are Specific, Time-Bound, Verifiable, and Within Their Power. Personal detail and sharing the impact a given policy has on you can be helpful, but mainly when paired with specific asks.
Screaming "DO SOMETHING" is tempting, but making the demand clear to the folks answering the phone means a better chance of real action rather than just "man, the phone lines are blowing up."
e.g.:
"Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [CITY, ZIP].
I’m calling to express my outrage over Elon Musk’s unlawful and undemocratic takeover of the federal government, and I ask that the Congressman, by way of his position on the Judiciary committee, open an immediate impeachment investigation into Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
Bessent's decision to hand the unelected Musk and his covert, unaccountable, wrecking crew unrestricted access to Treasury systems is a blatant attack on democracy and the Constitution of the United States. This demonstrates an egregious lack of judgement, and Congress should immediately exercise their oversight authority to determine what exactly is happening, and potentially remove Bessent from office. I expect a statement from the Congressman this week outlining the precise steps his office will be taking to protect the information and finances of the American people.
Thank you for your time and consideration."
Both the Congressman and the bulk of his staff are in Spokane this week, so start with (509) 353-2374. DC office is (202) 225-2006, but that mailbox is often full.
Hi! Just a friendly heads up that there’s an undercover cop camped out near 24th and Ray, pulling people over left and right for speeding.
Honorable Michael James Baumgartner
I missed the campaign but I've read your Wikipedia and was surprised to learn you seem like a decent person. Based on your background in economics, is having a madman as President positive or negative for the health of our Nation?
Setting aside the trade wars with our closest allies, the coming invasions of Panama and Greenland, the cruelty to marginalized groups, I am 100% dependent on Federal benefits: VA Healthcare and Social Security (which I fairly earned). I served 14 years in the military, my father was a Russian linguist in the Air Force stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War, both of my grandfathers killed Nazis in Europe serving in the Army infantry (26ID "Yankee" Division, Patton's 3rd Army) and Air Corp (Navigator, B24 Heavy Bomber, 376th Bombardment Group, 515th Squadron, 51 combat missions over the Reich). Further, I am a direct descendant of CPT Thomas and Mary Bradury; Thomas co-founded Salisbury Massachusetts in 1640, raised and led the local militia and Mary was sentenced to hang in the Salem witch trials of 1692 (she escaped). I tell you that because I want you to know, I'm invested.
Could you clear up some things for me? Do you value a lawful, functioning Federal government? Does Elon Musk have control of the Treasury? Is Elon Musk's associate "Big Balls" tampering with the Social Security payment system? To say I'm alarmed is (I have no words).
For years I've been consuming right-wing propaganda that tells us we need to have personally owned guns to protect ourselves from fascists when they take over. Sir, is it time for me to own a gun? Normally, as a veteran with PTSD and severe mental illness, I would hesitate to bring a gun into my home, but now I'm scratching my head, is this the moment I finally buy a gun (lol - I was infantry - qualified: 9mm, 5.56mm, 7.62mm, .50 cal, 25mm Bushmaster, MK19 40mm automatic grenade launcher, AT4 and TOW anti tank missile systems, and 120mm heavy mortar. Also, I earned my Expert Infantry Badge in Germany because I could do all infantry common tasks PERFECTLY)?
Peacefully, I went back to church on Sunday for the first time in 30 years. Bishop Budde's sermon to Trump's face struck a chord with me and I want to channel my absolute unmitigated rage into community minded local projects during this time of crisis. I am fully mobilized and actively working to help marginalized people.
Once upon a time, I voted for Bob Dole. The only time in my life I voted for a Republican. In my younger days, personal honor meant a great deal to me, I admired Bob Dole's service to our Nation. Sir, Honorable Michael James Baumgartner, if we were to ever meet in person, I would throw at you a stream of the most profane invectives, nasty, filthy, putrid words to let you know what I think of the modern Republican party and the present state of our Nation.
The Democrats have impeached this con man twice. It's time for House Republicans to stand up to Trump and stop this insanity.

I can’t. What’s up?
Not much else to offer. Sought political asylum of sorts but don’t care to discuss it much more and this is our first snow in airway heights
The Knitting Factory recently made it where you have to purchase a ticket to have a seat. Does anyone know if the seat ticket includes entry? Or do you have to purchase both a seat ticket and a GA ticket? It’s not very clear on the website.
Does anyone have any trustworthy dog sitter recommendations in Spokane or the surrounding area? Looking for someone for potentially a few weeks. I don’t partially want to use a boarding facility tho as they make me nervous because I’ve heard horror stories and it would cost an arm and leg to do for a few weeks.
Hello! I (29F) am wanting to move to Spokane. I get mixed advice on which area to look at apartments. There are some that I really like in the downtown area (I haven’t physically toured). However, I’ve had a few people tell me that it would be a mistake to live downtown or in Browne’s Addition. What do you all think? Would you recommend living downtown?
Tired of contract security... If you know, you know. I have about 7 years of experience. Any leads for in-house security besides hospitals or jails? Thanks!
Can anyone recommend good immigration lawyers in the area?
According to Transitions’ website, 70% of people living in poverty in the United States are women and children. In Spokane, over 30% of female-headed households live in poverty.
Transitions and Volunteers of America Eastern Washington are working to address these issues in Spokane.
Since 2017, the organizations have put on a Mardi Bras fundraising and awareness campaign to support women struggling with poverty and homelessness. The campaign runs Feb. 1-March 2.
“Access to feminine hygiene products is a basic necessity, yet, too often, women facing financial hardship struggle to obtain them. Mardi Bras is more than just an event — it’s an opportunity to ensure that women in need have the dignity, comfort and support they deserve. By coming together as a community, we can help provide these essential items and show women experiencing homelessness that they are not alone,” said Jessica Burke, development director at Transitions.
Transitions will be collecting bras, undergarments and hygiene products. The goals for this year are to get 25,000 tampons and pads, 4,000 underwear, 2,500 socks, 2,500 shampoo and conditioners, 2,000 deodorant sticks and 2,000 toothbrush and toothpastes.
Transitions and Volunteers of America are encouraging people to get creative and throw their own Mardi Bras parties to gather items with friends, family and coworkers.
There will be a drive-thru Mardi Bras donation drop off event on March 14 from 4-6 p.m. at Transition’s Women’s Hearth. A few other drop off spots include Blissful Whisk, Central YMCA, Downtown Library — New Leaf Cafe Location and Sweet Frostings Bakery – downtown and north side locations. There is also an Amazon needs list here, for those wanting to donate by having supplies shipped directly to the Transitions’ admin building.
Donations made during this event will be donated to Hope House, Women’s Hearth and other locations where women can easily access these products that meet their needs.

Religious organizations in Spokane are preparing for a new era after President Donald Trump’s Jan. 20 policy sweep revoked protections for immigrants in churches, among other changes.
Arrests by Immigration Control and Enforcement (ICE) are no longer prohibited at religious institutions, raising concerns among faith groups and humanitarian non-profits who partner to serve immigrant communities.
“Providing shelter in a storm and safety from threats of the outside, that is a call to people of faith,” the Rev. Amy Seymour of Bethany Presbyterian Church said. “These kinds of fear tactics that are coming from D.C. are very concerning. “
A broad network of churches, temples and other places of worship have historically provided volunteer assistance to refugees in Spokane and beyond. Many regularly collaborate with groups like Thrive International, which focuses on improving housing and education access.
“Churches are different from hospitals and schools, but they have their place, and a lot of times can provide resources to people who need them, like food and shelter,” Seymour said. “It doesn’t feel political. It’s never felt political to help your neighbor. So when all of a sudden it feels scary to do that, it says something about our political climate.”
While the White House publishes lists of recent arrests — mostly of undocumented Latino migrants with criminal histories — uncertainty has settled over many immigrant families, regardless of citizenship status or national origin. Increased ICE activity, confusion about federal funding and the potential suspension of birthright citizenship and the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program has pressured charitable partnerships to take action.
On Feb. 6, for example, Thrive International will hold a meeting with Spokane faith leaders to discuss their role in supporting immigrant communities.
“Our purpose is to say to the faith community, we need all voices out there right now,” said Jim CastroLang, director of Policy and Advocacy for Thrive International. “We need to figure out how we can push back against this together because human beings are getting hurt in this process.”

How would you defend the unanimous rejection of an amendment to HB 1296 requiring immediate parental notification in the case of alleged sexual misconduct by school employees?
Nevermind my opinion on the rest of the bill, aiming to obliterate the Parent's Bill of Rights recently passed by Washington voters, just this one. The amendment rejected by every single democrat on the house education committee.
Just that one. Thoughts?
