Hi everyone !
I'm going to spend Christmas in Vancouver, Washington. I'd love to know what the main attractions are around here? What can I see in the surrounding area? Where are the best restaurants?
I can't wait to hear your answers so that i can plan the best Christmas ever!
Hi /r/washington. Sorry if you've seen this a hundred times before or it's not allowed (I checked the rules) but, I figured this is the best place to ask.
This year I've made just a fraction too much to qualify for AppleHealth. I could if I took any of my self-employed business deductions at all (and will absolutely qualify anyway when they update incomes next year..) but I'm very afraid to, since I'm transgender, and don't have a clue what'll be happening next year with regards to trans healthcare being covered.
But my barely-affordable Kaiser plan I had last year is now $20 more expensive and like a full 15% of my income. I don't know anything about the other choices except I can find nothing but people complaining about how they're all terrible. But people also complain about Kaiser, and they've been a godsend here around Seattle?
My only choices are effectively:
Ambetter (Everyone online says they're awful and a constant fight for literally any care if you can even find a doctor?)
Community Health Plan of Washington Select (Absolute mystery who they are)
Molina (Would be my choice but they're shockingly the one option that doesn't cover estrogen, and their policy docs on trans care looks like they would fight literally everything vs how Kaiser's is, and say a lot of things wouldn't be covered that Kaiser covered. And it's not even an old document.)
So they all seem to absolutely suck. I'm honestly fretting enough that I'm debating just winging it with AppleHealth instead despite what might be coming.
Anyone have any experience with these choices?
Hey all, I work for a very small employer—less than 10 people in total. I am worried that my job won't be protected when I go on leave to have my baby in June.
Has anyone experienced issues before? I am new at my place (only a few months in, won't even be a year when I have my child), I told one person and got a very bad feeling about telling my boss (they literally just said to know my rights, who says that if not to be intimidating?).
This is my first time renting a apartment. I get a monthly bill from a 3rd party company (Yes Energy Management) for my utilities. I have been trying to figure out how they come up with such ridiculous high amounts on my bill. I live in Maple Valley
I moved in mid July and thought the reason for my high bill had to do with summer season but that's not the case. In fact it has been going up.
I pay TRASH $140-$180 Aug-Nov
SEWER $170-$212 Aug-Nov
SEWER CAPACITY CHARGE $40 every month
WATER $66-$69 Aug-Nov
ELECTRICITY for Complex Lights $29-$40
Gas in cents
$271 for first 16 days. Aug $442 Sept $448 Oct $452 Nov $492
My trash and sewer is raising to ridiculous amounts that make no sense at all. I'm also on government assistance and they don't even discount..
I’m left with more questions than answers. I’ve done my personal digging on Yes Energy Management and found out that they got sued for 2.8m in Maryland settlement to tenants. And heard of more coming. If this extremely high utility is bill is from illegal activity does anyone know the proper steps or how can I personally calculate my utilities cost myself to obtain the facts.
I was in an accident at the end of February 2023, I rear ended someone in stop and go traffic on the freeway. 100% my fault. I had just gotten my vehicle three months prior. I filed my claim and about two weeks later a claims adjuster stopped by my work to "check out" my car. They didn't ask for the keys to try and start it, never even opened the door or looked under the hood, they told me almost immediately that they were going to total it, and acted like they were doing me some huge favor. After a couple months of trying to reach my claims rep (I would call, email and send messages on the app almost daily and wouldn't hear from her for weeks. One time I even called the general claims number and was told she was in her office, they didn't know why she wasn't answering) I got a voicemail stating that the vehicle was paid off and that I should have an email telling me how to receive the money owed to me. (I had full coverage plus gap insurance.) I was kinda shocked because I had been told by her supervisor that they were unable to move forward with any part of the process until I had the release of interest signed, notirized and sent back in. I never signed anything, I did not want my car totaled. I still drive it daily and it's almost two years later. All the damage from the accident cost me a whopping $300 to fix, I needed a new bumper cover and a new headlight assembly. Now Its been almost two years and I'm having issues getting my tabs renewed and getting my title. The licensing office said that only the insurance company is able to go back and say that the car is not totaled. I was trying to sell my car a while back and not only is that seriously diminishing the value but I can't even get a quick title because it's listed as totaled. And my original title was sent to the insurance company which I understand usually when an insurance company makes a payment on a vehicle they have all their ducks in a row and they should actually have possession of the vehicle, however that was not the case this time. I have been told three or four times now that the title would be sent to me and I still have not received it, it's been probably 4 or 5 months now that I've been trying to get it from them. I honestly feel like they're trying to punish me somehow for their mistake. It doesn't benefit them at all to have my car listed as being totaled, but it is seriously making things very very hard for me as well as making my car practically worthless on paper. I drive 2021 Hyundai. It's only a couple years old, and I'd be really lucky to get $1,000 for it because on paper it says it's totaled even though it runs perfect, and always has. I guess what I would really like to know is if anybody has had any luck having an insurance company reverse a decision on a car being totaled, and how I would go about doing that. We're really any suggestions on what to do at this point. I talked with an attorney the day I got the voicemail saying that my card been paid off and she said that I was really lucky because the car was still legally mine and that they messed up by paying off the car but it was their mistake and I legally don't have to pay for it. Although I feel like they're definitely making me pay for it by making things as difficult for me as possible. If I want to get a new vehicle I can't even use my current vehicle as a trade-in, because on paper it's practically worthless. I have no idea what to do from here, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. I haven't been able to find anything online about what to do when a claims rep accidentally pays off your car when you never signed the release of interest. It's kind of a really specific problem.
Hi all,
My mom was just diagnosed with cancer and I am trying to do research on how she can take leave from work in the best way possible. I was thinking she can go on short term disability right now with FMLA concurrently because I think that would be the fastest as her condition is really not so great right now and we haven’t even started treatment. Then when STD expires, apply PFMLA.
Any advice? I worry if we go on LTD or try to add supplemental LTD later, we won’t have any job protection.
Also, I’m calling her HR in the morning to get the applications. Is there anything else I should do?
Looking back at some photos I took in April 2024
So I was waiting for the election to see what happened with the ballot initiative (which failed) and now am trying to figure out if I need to keep the two private long term care insurance policies that I have for my wife and I. We got them in the lead up to the 2019 law which was a big mess, and have been paying the $90/month ever since. Do we still need to keep these to be in compliance with the law?
Lots of coworkers have cancelled them, but I don't really want to do that unless it's legal. I'm bummed, because this is a pretty poorly constructed program in my opinion and would like to see it ended but seems it is here to stay. I also am not really interested in continuing to pay insurance companies for a policy that I'm unlikely to use since I won't maintain the policies in retirement.
Warning, all my friends in the Washington area do not fall for this scam!! They will come into your house under the guise of teaching you about fire and safety and giving you a free safety kit only to try and turn around to sell you an overpriced fire alarm that you will have to open a credit card for with a three day cancellation policy that they are very shady and don’t tell you about. Just don’t do it!!! The companies name is Northwest health and safety. And the fire alarm is called an Omni shield. 0/10 very shady and scammy and they pray on your desire to keep yourself and your family safe to drive their sales. It’s a multilevel marketing company.
One of my favorite spots in Washington & BC! This was taken from the WA side.
Shot this last Wednesday with a 4x5 camera on Ilford HP5+ film.
I can’t wait!!! My husband and I are doing a month long roadtrip next summer. We are from SLC Utah and stopping a few places in NV and CA on the way. We have a 4, 3 and 1 year old. We’ve been saving for this road trip for a while and these are some places people have recommended. How long in each place? Things to see in each of them? Things to scratch off all together???
Is this too much to combine? How long should we stay in each spot? Trying to plan it all out so we make the most of it, but not being too “jam packed” I will say, we have 3.5 weeks that we were going to split in some way between Oregon and Washington so I don’t have a time constraint necessarily.
Like i said, we are from Utah and love the outdoors/hiking, but our kids can really only handle 2-3 miles per hike. Maybe 2 of those in one day max.
Anyways, thanks in advance! I’m so excited!!!
(Edit for typos)
Is there any Washington Criminal Defense Lawyers in this group who could answer one question for me? Thanks in advance 😁
Stunningly beautiful!
I’ve made this trip at least 4-5 times a year for almost 50 years. I knew those were bluffs ahead, but damn they sure looked like it.
Can anyone recommend real estate agents that specialize in land purchases in Washington (right outside of Seattle or SW Washington near Portland)?
