Landlord replacing light fixtures?

Just to be clear this isn’t a lightbulb replacement, it’s an LED light panel that’s wired into the ceiling in my kitchen. I’ve lived in the apartment for a little under a year. I assumed this would be managements responsibility to replaced since it’s wired in, but they’re saying it’s on me. I’m trying to find any documentation around this, but it’s hard because most of it’s about lightbulbs and not a light fixture.

Anyone have any tips?

Moving to Seattle from out West, where to move?

Hi I lived Western US all my life and I want to move to Seattle for change of scenery, I like the night life and urban setting of downtown Seattle but I would like to live outside of it enough to enjoy the greenery while still being on the scene - what areas are recommended?

Seattle Apartments' Move-In Dates Don't Allow You To Plan Ahead?? Advice Plz!!

Hello! My partner and I are moving to Seattle from another state and we noticed that many of the Seattle apartment complexes do not have many move-in dates past 30 days...Which is very strange to us given where we live now where most complexes require you to let them know that you're moving 2-3 months prior to your lease ending. It is making it very difficult for us to apply for a lease cause our ideal move-in date would be early June. Is this common in Seattle? That you can only plan a month in advance? Where should we be looking for apartments with move-in dates that match ours? Any advice is appreciated :)

Do Seattle's landlords accept counter offers?

I'm used to the NYC market. Gone same day. If a big apartment building has units for rent, would they be open to a lower rate?

Looking for short term lease (3 months) walking distance from downtown

I’ve been really struggling the past few weeks finding a place to rent this summer near downtown. I’ll be there for an internship, so a 3 month is the lowest I can go as I’m moving back home after my internship concludes. The only decent lead I’ve had is the apodments firenze, but I haven’t heard positive things about it. Also, I’m not familiar with the area and don’t really know what areas are safe, and relatively walkable to downtown.

My budget is 1700-2200 a month, and I’d like to be within a 25-30 min walk of downtown. Would prefer to not live in a sketchy neighborhood either. If anyone has any solid leads please let me know! Thanks!

Need a review: Elara at the Market

Hi, I'm looking to live in Belltown and am interested hearing from people who live/lived in the Elara at the Market and Ovation apartments downtown.

I'm aware of people's feelings about downtown and the homelessness and other issues. I'm just needing feedback on this complex not the hood.

  1. if you need repairs (stopped up toilet, etc) is it easy to get ahold of them at any time? Do they respond quickly for repairs?

  2. Do they apartments look like the pictures? The facilities?

  3. Do people use the common areas much (aside from the gym)?

  4. Is it relatively quiet inside (like soundproofing is good or neighbors are quiet)? Dogs barking a lot?

  5. Which layout/floorplan did you have and did you like it?

  6. How is rent collected? I mean, do you have to pay via mail/check or can you transfer it? (I've been abroad for 15 years so I have no idea the current rental environment of payments.)

  7. safety wise: Can anyone walk into the lobby, or is that locked? If so, what is the locking mechanism? Keycard? Key? pincode?

  8. Did you have a dog? How was your experience having one?

  9. between Ovation and Elara, which block/neighborhood is marginally better considering the current situation?

TIA!

What is fair ren increase in old building/

Hello,

I live in a very old building- think ceiling leaks every 2 years. Ive lived there 15 years. I find it very convenient, good neighbors, parking etc..

My rent slowly, of course has been raised.

I was surprised to see that this year the increase for rent plus WSG 5.11%- yes there is a 6 month notice.

What increases do others have there days?

I recall a Seattle Times news article saying the rents are not increasing late in December.. but here I am- surprised. I have never had a new carpet nor painting. One year I asked for and got the carpet shampooed- that was because during covid when landlords could not evict an irresponsible tenant never picked up after her dog & I unknowingly stepped in a minefield of dog poo and tracked in some on my shoes. ( Ha ha - I made a big stink about it at the time and when lease was due for renewal I insisted it be professionally cleaned. I have at times been able to get the increase lowered. I was told rent raise would be XXX - which I asked for 20 off.. but I did not realize the WSG would also go up 10 so in essence I only got 10.00 knocked off.

I also do a lot of caring for plants around building which they know about and in a way turn a blind eye.

The place is getting less outer maintenance but they do fix and do apt repairs.

Thank you.

Can anyone give me any recommendations for apartments nearby Boeing Everett? I am not trying to commute more than an hour. Additional places to post campus area sublets?

Hello, I'm trying to sublet my apartment (a furnished 5 bed next to the ave and 5 min walk from campus) as I'm graduating from UW this winter. I've posted on Facebook sublet groups and the Campus Area Housing website (New Yammer and Craigslist). I'm wondering if anyone knows of any additional groups/places to post the sublet! It's a great place and I'm sad to be moving out, but I have a new job and am moving out of state starting end of December.

Looking for apartment for couple with low credit score

Hey all. Just looking for any help or advice on finding a studio or one bedroom apartment. Preferably close to light rail or bus lines for easier commute. Neighborhoods such as Cap Hill, First Hill, Queen Anne, interbay, Fremont, Ballard etc. my boyfriend and I have been looking for a place for a bit now but keep getting shot down because lower credit. We are willing to pay extra deposit or provide and referral letters, or whatever would help. We are tired of spending so much on application fee after application fee to keep getting denied. How is it this hard to find a place here. We are looking to spend about $1500 monthly rent. Any leads or suggestions is greatly appreciated!

any seattle residents/realtors have good advice?

hi all! my partner and i are trying to make a long move from south florida to seattle washington. we plan to move sometime within the next year.

anyway, i was curious, we’ve visited seattle, stayed a couple blocks from pike place and absolutely loved it. our budget would be right around $2000, with maybe a max of $2200. anybody have any suggestions on a neighborhood?? we’ve been looking mainly in pioneer square, queen anne, belltown, and downtown. we don’t have anything to tie us to one specific area yet, so our main focus right now is a relatively safe area, but still be within a city-style atmosphere. any recommendations on area? any of the ones i listed sound like a bad idea?

thanks guys :)

Why do so few apartments have washer or dishwasher in north America?

Personally I think 🤔 it's kinda gross to wash ur clothes there someone has previously washed their nasty work boots. Many landlords are also not allowing washers, dryers and dishwashers to be used on their property. I had clothes ruined in laundromats and washing every week is kinda expensive and time consuming. Why are we accepting a lower standard of living in the richest country in the world?
