I was talking with couple of friends about recent drama and we came to interesting topic. Hypothetically if all 3 players involved get released with coach also fired but we replace with rookies. Which means we aren't competing for playoffs in 2025 and 2026 but better vibes about team in general and better environment. So what would you choose little off field drama but competitiveness or clean state but less competitive (Among us it was 50-50. Personally i would choose clean state)
This substack has some good information about what may be going on with the Storm. https://betabasketinenglish.substack.com/p/what-the-bleep-is-going-on-with-the
I did hear someone say that it’s maybe a good sign that it’s the team asking for the investigation, rather than the investigation coming from the league or elsewhere. But bound to be some changes next year, no matter what.
Trade Jewell to a Chicago. - she’s seemed unhappy for a few years honestly, and now knowing what he do…
Let Nneka walk in Free Agency. - having the player’s union president barred from player’s only meetings for fear of partiality to Coaching staff is a super bad look.
Fire Noelle, and re-staff. - bring in a coach that doesn’t have playing history with these ladies. I nominate Detlef Schrempf
Just looking to find more Storm fans on Bluesky. People are talking about the "investigation" but I feel like the conversation is missing voices from Storm supporters. (Could just be because Bluesky is still growing its userbase.)
Jewell Loyd has unfollowed Skylar and Nneka...
Hi everyone, Sky fan here. I'm wondering what Storm fans are expecting from the expansion draft? I ask because looking at the options, it seems like there's a good chance the Valkyries will decline to take anyone from the Storm.
According to HerHoopStats, you have five players under contract next season: Jewell Loyd, SDS, Ezi Magbegor, Nika Mühl, and Jordan Horston. Everyone else is an unrestricted free agent, which means that if the Valkyries select them in the expansion draft, they would have to core them.
Nneka cannot be selected in the expansion draft because she's already been cored twice, so the Storm don't need to protect her. So, if the Storm protect their five contracted players, plus Gabby Williams, then the Valkyries' options are Mercedes Russell, Sami Whitcomb, Victoria Vivians, and Joyner Holmes—and they would have to give a supermax contract to whoever they pick.
Do you think the Valkyries will want to pick one, or would they just pass? Whitcomb seems to me like the only one of those four who would be remotely worth coring, but I also think the Valkyries could spend that money more effectively in free agency.
I'm a new season ticket holder that paid my deposit a little before the end of October. At what point do new tickets holders get to choose their seats? Do we get contacted by email?
Has anyone else here seen the various Instagram posts, Facebook comments and tweets that seem to imply all is not well between some of the players, coaching staff and/or front office at the Storm? I don’t want to perpetuate rumors that are vague and sound pretty outlandish to me, but seeing as how Jewel’s mom has weighed in, it seems like there might be a small nugget of truth in them somewhere.
In say… 2025. The middle. Will the season be delayed or canceled? I'm just really curious since I read about it.
Does anyone know where you can apply or how you get a job to be one of the water/ball/towel/floor wiping jobs at the storm games?
I ask because I just bought a yellow Stewie jersey for $20. I was expecting it to be heat pressed like the NBA swingmans and current jerseys but it's the cheap rubbery material. I guess I can't complain for $20 but I'm just a little disappointed and didn't realize it's not the same material as the current jersey. Does anyone know if they hold up or not? I for sure won't be putting it in the dryer.
Hey everyone, some of you may recognize my name on r/wnba.
2 days ago I randomly woke up to find I was perma-banned.
At first I thought I tripped the automod, using the term "jerking off".
Here's the context: https://np.reddit.com/r/wnba/comments/1fzxi47/offseason_basketball_posts_overseas_unrivaled_au/lrd7iab/
Highlights with no intent to start conversation
What does that even mean?
Who's here jerking off to an empty white page. "Yah, no one commented on my post". No one is purposely trying to do that.
I guess it's a slight upgrade from seeing highlights as "low-effort content". Y'all replaced an ambiguous rule with another ambiguous rule.
/End rant
I just want to say, the automod improvements are amazing.
Having your post instantly removed, rather than randomly removed 30 mins later. So much better.
The later was a great way to discourage anyone from making content.
But it seems to be more personal than that. They have completely ghosted me.
When I tried to reach out with an alt. They ip banned all my alts. Shits serious apparently.
Sorry for going off-topic. I didn't know where to post this. As I certainly can't do it on r/wnba anymore lol.
I was at the Vegas game almost a month ago and saw they had a rack of game used jerseys in the team store. I thought they'd be there all year but I guess they move them out once the Kraken play. I'd love to get my hands on an authentic jersey especially since they're hard to find. If they're a couple hundred dollars I'd probably pass but if they have some discounted jerseys of some reserves or players not on the team anymore I'd definitely buy one.
I’ve been looking for Nika and Gabby’s jerseys for a while, but I don’t see anything on the team website. Are there any other sites where I can find legitimate, high-quality jerseys?
She was playing against her Storm teammate Gabby Williams in their overseas league.
The setup for Golden State's expansion draft was released today, and every team can protect up to six players.
Any guesses as to whom the Storm will look to protect? Ezi, Lloyd and SDS are obvious. Horston will probably be a fourth.
As to the other two? I've got no idea, but hopefully Nika Muhl is one of those. I'd love to hear what the sub thinks here on this upcoming choice the Storm will have to make.
I'm not sure when the offseason deadline is but I am anxious to know when moves will be made. Definitely anxious to find out if Gabby re-signs or not.
Hi y'all.
I tried to find new mods for the sub a while ago, but never had any serious inquiries. It seems in the time I have been away from reddit this sub has gotten a lot more active. I want to pass along the sub to some new folks! If you are intrested please send me a message and we can get to know you.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Thanks VC
Anyone watch the exit interviews? They're up on YouTube now. Curious about peoples thoughts.
Some of mine- First, absolutely love Noelle Quinn, she is very aware of her impact on team and franchise culture and is locked in to getting the best from everyone
Nneka-super professional, LOVE her game, could 100% see her coming back specially with Skylar there.
Skylar-she talked about having a large leadership role the entire year, and that her leadership style wasn't to the taste of some teammates. seemed to allude to some locker room conflict. she gave noelle praise, clearly loves playing for her
Gabby-talked about having a home in Seattle, particularly with her role as a dynamic player. She said it's the first team in the W that has made her feel clear and supported in her role. spoke to offense having to become a larger role of hers as the end of season progressed, I'm assuming because jewell's lack of. hope to the basketball gods she comes back, clearly loves to be here
Jewell expressed nothing but excitement about expansion. she spoke to being real and honest with potential new teammates in free agency. I feel really bad she had such an off season, she acknowledged it being the first time she didn't hit her goals for the season.
I didn't know Victoria coaches for Mississippi state, thought that was really cool
Nika's mentality around this season is very admirable
why wasn't mercedes russell there??? she was the only player who didn't participate in interviews and it doesn't seem like she will be doing them at a different time.
Several players spoke to chemistry and more time together is what set Vegas and other higher ranked teams apart from them. I'm looking forward to next year, seems that there will be some changes to the roster but hoping to see a great 2025 season outta Seattle!
Just a reminder, because someone is famous on TV doesn’t mean that they’re not human!
It’s not on reddit much but other social media platforms at the moment are going crazy with the hate about gameplay.
