I plan on working for King County as a rail track laborer for King County (on the light rail). Does anyone work for them or know more about the job? Just wondering if it's a good place to work.
Hey does anyone know how close to the road I can build a fence? I thought it would be five feet but looking at some neighbors looks more like ten. The government website is garbage and I can’t find the information I need.
I’m not sure where else to ask this. My condo, which I purchased 8 years ago, has the wrong address on the title. My condo complex has 2 buildings, let’s call them building 1001 and building 1002. The unit numbers are unique across both buildings (i.e., no two units have the same unit number in either building). For some reason, the address on my title and on the property tax bill is for 1001, though my unit is actually physically in building 1002.
This has never really been an issue because there is no other unit in the other building with my unit number, and it certainly did not prevent me from getting a mortgage approved and other stuff. But it does get annoying from time to time, like now, when I’m applying for an equity loan. I usually just explain the situation and they’re like ok fine.
How do I fix this? Who do I contact?
I'm going to rent out my home in King Co. and need a strong, legal lease. Any suggestions where to look for one? Any legal/attorney recommendations for a draft? The ones for free online are garbage.
My son whom is 14 and a freshman in highschool has been skipping school and got himself suspended for 15 days. He's choosing to hang around bad kids who also are going nowhere in school. He has left for days at a time with no permission to even leave in the first place. I'm a single mom who is trying to make a living but can't even go to work because I can't trust he will be home if I leave. He has every privilege that I possibly am able to take away, has been taken away. No wifi. He's grounded to this house no hanging out with any friends. He needs to do schoolwork but refuses to do any and is threatening to leave the house to get wifi. What can I do to keep this kid under control. I have bills to pay, how can I even consider even LEAVING for work??? Is there even any type of lawful support or any, ANY RESOURSES to help me and more importantly my SON?
Hi all - Anyone willing to post a) where you live (city name) and b) what colors your garbage, recycling, and green waste bins are? I'm doing a research project on waste bin colors in different regions of WA, as the state works toward standardizing our waste system. Turns out there are a bunch of different setups in King County
I live in kent currently, and in all my life its been so rare to get into an accident that I remember whenever ive had any close calls at high speeds, never having an accident. Until 3 weeks ago me and my mom got t-boned by some lady speeding and swerving through traffic, including going into oncoming traffic. I fractured my cheekbone and eye socket in that and have been in and out of the hospital since, and every time i have to go to the hospital, it nearly happens again! 3 seperate times on the trip today to the hospital, nearly got absolutely smushed on the highway, and i witnessed 5 seperate other cars on the road in brutal looking accidents. Does it seem to anyone else that drivers have been getting worse and worse? Really makes me wanna move out of here for me and my family's safety. I know accidents have always happened but it feels like in the past few months people have gotten so so so much worse. I feel so fortunate that in the crash a few weeks ago i was the only person seriously hurt and my mom was okay with no serious damage, but i cant garuntee that same luck next time. Thinking about taking a defensive driving class, but thats another 600$ on top of my current medical bills. Does anyone have any advice or anything?
Hi, my name is Jay Sung and some of you might know me by watching the news about the kidnapped child named Bryan Sung. Just a brief introduction of myself, my son was illegally taken away to South Korea by his mother. The mother is charged for kidnapping, and courts from both countries decided that he has to be returned, but the return did not happen. It's because the officials in Korea didn't care about the child or their responsibility but robotically followed the flawed system that is designed to take minimal action and let the child be with the abducting parent. This became in international issue between the US and Korea and it was covered by multiple news articles (You can search by using keywords such as my name Jay Sung or my son's name Bryan Sung)
Last year, Korean officials attempted enforcing their own court order, but the enforcement failed. The people who were on the site that day had to witness the biggest injustice with tears in their eyes. People have been asking me what happened that day that led to the Korean legal system failing to return the child after 9 court orders. My short film on my enforcement attempt is about what happened in Korea that day, July 10th of 2023. This film titled "Do you remember dad?" is a short animation film but it surprisingly got good response and even won the "Best Experimental Film" at Korea International Short Film Festival, and got selected for two categories (Best documentary short and Best children short) at the LA based film competition called Independent Shorts Awards. It has been selected for a New York based film festival and just got into the semi-finalist list for the best experimental film at an Italy-based film festival, too. We are holding a screening event at the Siff film center (at the Seattle center) on March 21st. You can follow this link below for more info and ticketing (although I already paid for your tickets so it's free). There will be a short discussion / Q&A session too. Small snacks and beverages will be prepared, too. I hope to see y'all there.
NOTE: Admins, if this isn’t the best subreddit to post it on (already posted to r/SeattleWA), please redirect me to a more appropriate subreddit. Thank you!
Hey everyone,
While I will have to keep in mind of the possibility that my stolen items might not be recovered, I still want to ask for any assistance.
I’m a high school senior in WA who was visiting the SODO location of Silver Platters on 1st Ave S in Seattle yesterday evening and between 6pm-6:30pm, my car was broken into with my backpack stolen full of items. I had many items in there, but the main ones that were stolen were a bunch of DVDs I purchased from Silver Platters a couple weeks ago, my School Lenovo Chromebook with a charger (NOTE: “Edmonds School District” was embedded on it) and my K-Pop Wallet (which was a VIP merch from the “TWICE Ready to Be Concert Tour”) that had my drivers license and my credit/debit cards.
I froze all my cards except for a Wells Fargo debit card since it only had like $7 in it and I wanted to see if the robber would attempt to spend an enormous amount on it.
At 6:43pm, my suspicions were confirmed: at the QFC on Rainier (2707 Rainier Ave S, Seattle, WA 98144), they attempted to use both my Wells Fargo debit card and my frozen Petal Credit Card for $554.19 worth of items, which obviously declined from both.
According to a person I talked to who unfortunately only had blurry footage of the area, the alleged suspect wore a beanie with shorts. After going off-camera (likely to steal my stuff), they were seen on-camera for a final time running towards 1st Ave S (direction after they ran unknown).
So, now I ask anyone who sees this for your help: attached to the post are the main items stolen from the car that I wish to get back (backpack, wallet, Chromebook).
If you were around the area of 1st Ave S between 6pm-6:40pm and/or were at the Rainier QFC around the time the stolen purchase was attempted (6:43pm) and had a good look of a person with many items who walked away after failing to purchase them with my cards, please DM or email me at serenapona@gmail.com with any information. While I’m a high schooler that doesn’t make much money, I will reward you for any information that leads to something.
While my items are important to me, I mainly want to prevent the person or people who did this from potentially causing a tragedy if they are still out doing this to other innocent victims.
Thank you and I will be updating this post when more information is released.
Mark your calendars, commuters!
I-405 and SR 167 toll rates and tolled hours will change on March 1, 2024. These adjustments are part of the ongoing efforts to improve traffic flow and fund construction projects on both corridors.
Here’s a breakdown of what the new changes entail:
New Toll Rates: The minimum Good To Go! toll rate for both roads will increase to $1, and the maximum Good To Go! toll rate will increase to $15.
Extended Hours: Evening tolling hours have been extended until 8 p.m.
Weekends: Toll lanes will remain free on weekends on I-405. Weekend tolling on SR 167 will continue until 8 p.m.
Keep in mind that toll rates for I-405 and SR 167 are dynamic and change depending on the flow of traffic. When traffic is flowing smoothly and there is room for more vehicles, the toll rate is lower. As traffic volumes increase, the toll rate can reach a maximum of $15 to discourage too many cars from entering the toll lanes. The purpose of the express toll lanes is to move more people through the corridor and provide drivers with a faster and more reliable trip when they need it.
For more information on the new changes, you can visit the Washington State Transportation Commission's website or The WSDOT Blog (links below):
Coming up this weekend, two major northbound off-ramps to downtown Bellevue will be closed. The northbound I-405 off-ramps to Northeast 4th and 8th Street (Exit 13A/13B) and the Southeast 8th Street on-ramp to northbound I-405 will be closed.
Crews will demolish an existing retaining wall leftover from the old Main Street bridge on the east side of the highway. To accomplish this work, we will need to close both off-ramps to provide space for crews and equipment.
This is a huge feat to accomplish over a weekend and the impacts of the closure will make travel difficult. We will have a signed detour route in place but please PLAN AHEAD and give yourself lots of extra time to get where you want to go.
We have a lot of helpful resources on our website (wsdot.wa.gov) that can make your plans much easier, including our real-time travel map, email alerts, our WSDOT app, and more.
I’m considering taking a job in Auburn and I live in the Renton highlands area. Anyone else have a commute similar? Not sure if this is relevant info but I’d be getting a $5 raise from my current job at $22 to $27 at my potential new job, but I just don’t know about the distance for me. I love living in the highlands as well, not interested in moving to Auburn. I guess I’m just curious at a career change.
Hi All! I need legal help in King County and I’m not sure what to do as I can’t afford to hire a lawyer. I bought a new construction townhome in December 2020 and there are construction defects that need to be dealt with (primarily the home wrap, siding, window flashing were all done incorrectly). I sued my builder without a lawyer and I’m not getting much traction with it - are there any free or low cost options in the community where I can get legal help/advice/resources? I’m terrified that I’m in over my head and somehow they are going to get the judge to dismiss my case and make me pay their legal fees.
