We found a little gem bringing the authentic flavors of Mexico City right to Dallas! From freshly baked bread and desserts to perfectly marinated pastor on the trompo, El Tizoncito is a true culinary experience.
During our visit to their Highland Park location, we were welcomed into the kitchen by Florencio, Isabel, and Iris, who showed us how they prepare their signature dishes like chilaquiles verdes, alambres de pastor, and their unique torta de chilaquiles—all absolutely delicious and made fresh daily.
Their chicharrón de queso is a must-try, as is their café de olla and refreshing cantaritos. And if you’re in need of a pick-me-up, their micheladas are perfect!
This family-owned business has been serving the DFW community since 2009, now with five locations offering exceptional food and amazing customer service.
Before leaving, we took a moment to pray over the business, the owners, and their team, asking for blessings over their hard work and continued success.
Make sure to add El Tizoncito to your list of spots to try!

Hi! My husband and I are looking for some places to go to for dinner on vday weekend. I would like something nice that also has a fun atmosphere while still being a little romantic (For reference: we usually like to go to cheesecake factory for date nights at home so something on par or nicer would be great. nothing too upscale or expensive). A few places I found so far are Lonesome Dove, Le Margot, and Wicked Butcher. We would like it to be in the Dallas/Fort Worth area but it doesn't need to be directly in the city. Any suggestions?? We are open to any type of food :)
Hi I hope you enjoy my 1st mukbang ✨️✨️✨️💕
Anyone know where to get blintzes in DFW area? Yelp is worthless in this quest. Please not Cindy’s Deli, which is THE WORST! Thanks!
Who has the best Mac and cheese in North Dallas up to Frisco?
I feel like the places I have tried are velveeta masked with cream or have no flavor at all. 🫣
I highly recommend Rosso's call fired kitchen for Italian food, they have enough space for party and they have verity of catering menu.
Need to fill some time for Valentine's day and Im trying to look for a cute place that'll have things like pies, ice cream, cakes, milkshakes, doughnuts etc. A place that is not Braum's or a paleteria lol. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Im not looking for a restaurant. I already made reservations for a good fancy one for later that night.
Around Downtown Dallas, North Dallas or Garland area. Thank you.
Since Taste of Chicago is gone, where can I get a good deep dish Chicago style pizza? Need somewhere that’s only 30 mins from Little Elm area. No where in Fort Worth or Arlington. Thank you.
I have a recollection that they used to sell it at Brookeshire‘s, but I can’t seem to locate it in the Brookeshire‘s inventory when I look on the grocery delivery services. Anyone know if there are any stores closer than Muenster that sell this?
I’m looking for a special place to take my wife (she is Chinese) and our family from out of town. Prefer a mixture of authentic dishes and Americanized options for the less adventurous. Bonus points for round tables with lazy Susan’s to help with eating family style. Looking for best food, fancy location is not important. Anywhere in the metro is fine.
Me and my friends are traveling to Dallas for my birthday but 2 people in the group aren’t 21 yet. Are there any 18 and up bars in Dallas that are worth going to?
What are the best restaurants to go to for a romantic dinner if neither of us eat red meat or seafood??
Hey Reddit, I am traveling is Dallas and looking for fantastic food as a solo guest. Any recommendations for me?
There’s this restaurant chain in Ohio that does build your own tacos like this and I cannot find anything similar to this on Google in the area. Thoughts ?
Hi all!
I am recently learning all Fireside Pies locations have closed. I didn't go often, but I loved a particular salad on the menu. It was called the "Fireside Cheese." I am hoping to get lucky and find more info on the exact recipe.
A quick google search brought me to this: Mixed greens and romaine with san marzano tomatoes and cheese blend tossed with roasted red pepper ranch.
I was hoping if anyone happened to know more about the exact cheeses, types of lettuce, and red pepper ranch recipe.
Thank you in advance!
Hey Dallas foodies! I need your help to find this cake that I had as a kid and can’t find anywhere. Is there anywhere in Dallas that you can buy this? Thank you in advance!!
Looking for recommendations for a group of 40 close to the Omni. Preferably walking distance or short drive.
Now that Kebab N Kurry is closed (still honestly so sad about this) where do yall recommend going? We’ve tried a couple different places over the years just to get something closer to our house but we always ended up back at Kebab N Kurry in Richardson because it was just so good.
We get dinner from there on Christmas Eve every year and this year I’m at a loss for where to go that won’t disappoint. So what Indian food places do yall recommend that is similar style/menu items? Bonus points if it’s close to the mckinney area (Plano/allen/frisco, or even up towards Sherman)
Looking for some really good Paella in Dallas. We've tried Sketches of Spain in BA, wasn't impressed! Please help! 😀
My Brother and sister in law just had a baby, and I want to gift them a nice night out for Christmas. In my area, we've got a lot of restaurants that are doing "get an extra 20% when you buy a gift card" type deals, so I'm looking for what I can do to make the money go a little bit further. I know Uchi is doing an extra $30 for a $200 gift card, but I was hoping to keep it to $150. Are there any other good options? They're in Grapevine, so the closer to that the better.
My wedding anniversary is Thursday, and we plan to go out Friday to celebrate. Looking for a new place to try, preferably more on the north/northwest side of DFW, ~$50/person or less.
Open to different cuisines, don’t drink alcohol so cocktails/bar don’t matter, and we will be bringing our 10 month old (chill, easy baby used to going out to eat). Definitely prefer somewhere that isn’t extremely loud 😅
Suggestions?!
Looking for a fun and interactive resturaunt for a weekday date night with my husband of 13 years. We love to try new things, and we love a dinner with entertainment. Even the revolving sushi bar was a hit! Nothing too fancy and nothing that needs tickets or reservations would be best.
I'm still absolutely furious typing this.
Last night, I went to a restaurant in Dallas. I left the following 3-star review:
"I would like to preface this that I'm not sure if they were in the middle of a soft opening, which would explain some of the shortcomings.
When we showed up for our reservation, they did not have seating for our party for about 30 or so minutes. Several people in my party were excited to try their insert traditional entree (since it's a staple of the restaurant) but we were told they ran out before the dinner rush started. I tried to order the Gnocchi Bolognese, and was told they may also be out of gnocchi, and asked what my second option was. I said my second option was the ravioli a la vodka, which they told me they didn't have because they didn't have their liquor license yet. I said if they didn't have gnocchi, that I'd settle for the four cheese pasta option (I can't remember the name off the top of my head). When my food came out, it was the gnocchi with the four cheese sauce - which wasn't given as an option. The person next to me didn't get what they ordered either. We had to consistently ask for water (we weren't ever offered water, we had to ask for it, and there were no refills without catching the waiter). I think the people running the place are super nice, and I wish them the most success. This experience just wasn't for me. I'm sure it's only going to get better with time."
WELL, this morning I wake up to texts from family members saying that the OWNER reached out to them and asked me to take my review down. All of them decided that I was awful for posting an honest review and that I needed to take down my review. WTF. It got to the point where my fiancé was ready to call off the marriage because his family was so mad. I took it down, but I'm absolutely pissed. I'm not 100% sure they didn't pay for the reviews they have.
What would you do in this situation? I don't want to include the restaurant name, because I don't want them flooded with bad reviews for anyone. Was my review really that terrible? The restaurant has been open for 3 weeks, and they never mentioned a soft opening, but I added that in my review just in case.
Update: It seems pretty split, but I just wanted to update. I took the review down. The restaurant owner reached out to me personally... I guess my soon-to-be mother in law gave him my phone number. He personally thanked me for my review and expressed that there were no hard feelings and he didn't know why I took it down. I'm not sure why my fiancé's family took it so hard, because the restaurant owner was NOT mad, nor did he ask me to take down my review. I'm probably not going to update this again, but all is fine I guess. Need to have a serious talk with my Fiancé tonight, but everything is better now.
Dallas foodies,
I was recently out at Reddit HQ and they might approve funds to support our growing community of foodies but we need a solid plan to pitch them. Here are a few ideas I've had, would love for y'all to pitch in ideas too:
Food Tour of x Dallas area - Like bar hopping but going to various restaurants to try certain dishes. Apparently the Chicago Food sub did something similar with support from Reddit.
Local restaurant support - Find a locally owned restaurant that could use some love, rent it out for several hours, have members of the sub come and eat, post pics of the food here and on other socials to spread the word.
A billboard that encourages other Redditors to join our sub.
