My boyfriend and I are moving in together and we are looking for a place that can accommodate our pups with a private yard. Our budget is 2500 and we’re looking for a two bedroom. We’re flexible as far as north Dallas, Carrolton, Richardson, Plano, so all recommendations welcome!

Good Apartments and Neighborhoods around Dallas

Hello,

Me and my Girlfriend are moving to Dallas Area for her job from northern Minnesota both are 24.

Her Job is going to be in Highland Park, my job is remote but I travel every month for work as well. Commute isnt too much of a concern for me because my work pays for it all and so really only care about proximity to her work.

We want a two bedroom apart between the price range of 1700-2100$ a month.

my question is what are good neighborhoods to live in and what to avoid? I have been doing alot of research looking at apartments, making spreadsheets with all the information and ranking them on google review scores.

Here are some good reviewed apartment I have found but the comments on the area are 50/50

Jefferson Innova - Belmont Mark
Vue Live Oak - Old East Dallas
Marquis At Texas Street - Old East Dallas
Vue Fitzhugh - Belmont Park
Macallan on Ross - Bryan Place
Sync at West Dallas - Trinity Groves

Looking for any suggestions!

Advice for going to Deep Ellum?

Me and a friend are going to an event down there tonight, but I've heard it's sketchy. Is it really that bad and should I be really worried?

How Can I Pick Up an Online Delivery Near Dallas Airport?

Hi! I am from Argentina and I have a 7-hour layover in Dallas, and I’d like to buy a laptop at a good price from Best Buy or Walmart.

Most deals are online and only offer delivery, so I’m looking for a store, service, or provider where I can have my laptop delivered and pick it up when I arrive, I did some research and found a DHL at the airport, is it a reliable option?

You guys got any recommendations?

Thanks!

Apartments in the Cityline area

Hello, I am planning to move to Dallas this year. I am married and in my thirties. I got to visit some of the apartments in the cityline area recently. I liked a couple of them. But the Google reviews on some of these have been really interesting. Eg: I was quoted the highest rent at The Register apartments where they showed us a lot of amenities. But on Google people say their amenities are broken most of the time and that the apartment has a pest/roach problem (with pictures).

Does anyone have any experience with the register/ other apartments in cityline area?

I am also curious if these apartments are primarily used by students. We would prefer to live in a non student housing area among mostly families.

I am considering Windsor/Hazel galleria as alternative. Visited Hazel in person recently. These apartments looked really good during tour with the leasing agent. But I am seeing terrible Google reviews on them. Any idea if these are good?

Moving to Dallas - Seeking Safe Areas

Hi folks,

Single 24F here. Looking to move to Dallas this summer from the East Coast. Just a brief background. I am a remote engineer, so commuting is not a factor. I am a huge sports (NFL, NBA, WNBA, MLB, UT) fan and enjoy artsy scenes as well. Heck, I’ll even try hockey. Salary: $150K, seeking a 1bed apt. So seeing what parts of town folks think could fit in my budget.

Transparently, I am black and LGBT, so I would like to live somewhere where I can see all colors and backgrounds. I want to stay near the fun, but remain in an area that is still “relatively” safe and close to good gyms. I am not super interested in the suburban areas (Plano, Frisco, DeSoto, Duncanville, Cedar Hill, etc) because I am looking to be more social and to experience city life. I have always lived in the suburbs, and don’t mind going back if I find that I don’t enjoy the hustle and bustle. I have visited the area several times, but wanted to try my hand here on Reddit. Everyone is welcome to chime in no matter your gender, race, etc. Thank you in advance for your insight and kindness!! :D

Upscale/“date night” restaurants that work with food allergies (wheat and dairy)

Any chance someone out there someone knows upscale, “date night” type restaurants that will accommodate food allergies?

I’m doing a food elimination diet for an upper endoscopy and need to remove wheat and dairy from my diet for 3 months.

I miss going out on date nights with my husband, because I struggle to find places that can accommodate my restrictions. I’m trying to build a list of places that are known for working with food allergies. Yes, I plan on confirming with all restaurants they can accommodate my allergies - I’m hoping for some places to start!

Thanks!

Thinking of buying in Aubrey

Hello!

My husband and I are currently looking at houses in the Sandbrock Ranch community in Aubrey. Husband mostly WFH and I work in Plano 3x a week. Wondering on how the commute is like down DNT. I know 380 is a wreck as we currently live in Princeton.

TIA!

Help! Deciding Between Addison, Irving, and North Dallas – Best Areas for a Married Couple in their mid 20's?

Hey everyone! My husband and I are in our mid-20s and love staying active, going out, and meeting new people. We’re starting to apply to jobs in the Dallas area and need to narrow down which neighborhoods will be the best fit for us. Right now, we’re focusing on suburbs like Addison, Irving, and North Dallas, but we’re open to other areas nearby.

We’re hoping to find a good balance of affordable apartments, a reasonable commute to downtown Dallas, and access to nightlife, parks, and other activities that fit an active lifestyle. We’d love to hear any recommendations on which areas are great for young professionals who enjoy being social and staying active!

Also, if anyone has specific apartment recommendations or advice on places to check out in these areas, we’d be all ears!

Thanks in advance for any help!

Moving recommendations

I'm may have to relocate to work in downtown Dallas. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with all the different areas to choose from and hoping to get some recommendations.

Priorities for me are: getting to and from downtown dallas in under an hour (my hours are flexible so can work around traffic, open to public transport if that's somehow faster), cost (ideal for me is under 300k but that could realistically go higher if it had to), safety (have two kids), and a bonus would be being near any kind of biking or park or decent sized yard.

Any suggestions would be helpful. I've been suggested Copell and Fourney from one of the folks I worm with - any insight on either of those would be welcome as well

Thank you

Cool bars? Any part of Dallas

Im looking for a club type of vibe, but as a bar.

Example: Atlas in Bishop Arts or Vidorra Deep Ellum, they’re aesthetically pleasing and around 8pm on weekends, they play music you could dance to.

Hopeful mention: Does Ayahuasca (bar in Xaman Cafe) have this vibe? Ive also heard about room 520 and akai. Not sure tho.

I appreciate any suggestions!!

Where do you get restaurant/things to do recs??

Ok Dallas, need some help - where do you all find out the parties, events, and restaurants doing cool things? I need some accounts to follow or places to look to find out where all the great spots are. I know Dallasites101 is a big one, but it feels like that's sometimes the only place and I'm sure I'm wrong. Help a girl out. Thanks!

Smoking marijuana in DFW

This is probably the 100th post about weed in the DFW areaa and I apologize but I just wanted to make sure.

I know that weed is illegal in Texas and carts even more so due to the concentrate, but it seems that the general consensus is that as long as you smoke within your own home and don’t bring anything outside (like your car) you should be fine. I just wanted to confirm if this is fine. I don’t ever plan on driving high but I’m a little scared to be honest and I’m not trying to catch a felony or anything.

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Relocating to Dallas

Please no hate here. I've been a California resident since I was a child. However most of my family has always lived in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. They continually urge me to move closer to the family. Wanted to ask how the job market is out there? Is it pretty stable what industries are most present? Google searches say median income is roughly 65K-70K.

How are other factors like summer and winter weather, traffic, crime rates? As I start thinking about a family of my own would you all say Dallas is a good place to raise a family? Could some one afford a home here with the average salary? Is it more of a buyers or sellers market?

Trying to plan a birthday 😅

It’s my boyfriend’s (23M) birthday this weekend and I’ve been trying to come up with outdoor activities for us to do. He loves to be out and about, he’s an avid skater. We went zip lining for my birthday so I don’t want to do that again this year. We’re not big into hiking or kayaking. I wanted to take him to the illusion museum but they’re closed for renovations 🙄. Dallas doesn’t have much to do and I’ve lived here my whole life. I’ve already planned out dinner and his present but can’t seem to find any good outdoor activities for us to do. We aren’t drinkers either. Anything in DFW area that yall suggest?? (He’s also really big into rock, punk and alt music if there is any concert suggestions)

In search of a closer place?

Is there a place in Dallas, Plano, Carrollton, Richardson, frisco area that has a paint place like Bramblitt's Yellow Dog Art Bar & Gallery in Denton? It’s so far but I can’t find anywhere like it at the moment. It’s basically like a cafe where you can freely paint. They let you paint and provide you paints and you can buy a drink (this isn’t important) and then pay for your drink and tip them for their services. But you aren’t required to purchase a class in order to paint or have like an hour paid for and set aside or anything. Anywhere nearby like it?

Camden Belmont or Henderson

Thinking of moving really soon and was wondering if I should be aware of either of these apartments in terms of management or car thefts etc. The greenville location seemed great when I toured but haven’t had the time to tour these. Though they are sister properties I know it’s different. Any info would be great, TIA!!

Debating on buying a house in KISD

Hello guys, Im having lots of doubts about purchasing a new construction house in Keller crossing, just by the rail tracks, west of 377. I put down $5000 as earnest money about a month ago and my closing is just 5 days away. However, recently I got to hear that there’s a plan to split the KISD and if that happens this house will be in the Alliance ISD. The residents of west of 377 have been protesting this potential split. Im also hearing that if the split happens it will decrease the house value, increase the taxes and other bad thigs which has taken away all our excitements and now Im having doubts. If I back down now I will lose about 5500 and if I don’t and that split happens (looks like the trustees are doing everything to make it happen) there’s a high chance of losing money in the future (!!).

I know at the end of the day it’s my decision, but wanted to hear from you what do you think? Currently we don’t have any kids but were planning to grow our family after buying the house. Thanks!!

Looking for a reliable car to rebuild and get back on track

Life has thrown its challenges my way, but by God’s grace, I’m finding my way back. Recently, I lost my car after insurance deemed it salvage, leaving me with just a small payout. On top of that, I faced job loss, but through sheer determination, I’ve secured a new opportunity in Houston. Now, I just need one thing to move forward: a reliable car.

If you or someone you know has an old, drivable car they no longer need and would be willing to pass on, I would be beyond grateful. This would truly be a lifeline for me as I work to rebuild.

Alternatively, if you know of any great deals on a Toyota or Honda—my budget is $3- 4 000 which they gave me as pay out. I’d appreciate any leads on honest dealers or private sellers.

I believe in the kindness of people and the power of community. Any help, advice, or connections mean the world. Feel free to reach out!

Grateful for everyone with a helping heart

Any Good Dinner Clubs in DFW?

Hey everyone, I’m a big foodie and recently moved to Dallas from NYC. I was wondering if there are any good supper clubs or monthly dinner groups in the area? A friend of mine goes to one called Lá Dinner Club that does Viet fusion, but I’d love to check out other options too. Looking to meet new people and connect with fellow food lovers.

Does anyone know where I can buy three tickets to the Dallas Stars game on 1/31/25? I have searched Ticketmaster but all tickets are resale and it’s mostly sold in pairs of two or four. Would like to be on the 100 or 200 level.

Apartments at Cypress Waters in Coppell

I plan on moving to the Cypress Waters area within the next few months and have been researching the apartments. I‘ve spent some time there and know I like the environment, but I’m having trouble picking an apartment.

I do have a dog, so I prefer to be right along the water. Hastings End is gorgeous, but I’m not willing to sacrifice sq footage, especially at their price tags.

I’m interested in Apartments at the Sound, but some of the reviews are making me anxious. I know that reviews aren’t always the best indicator since most of the time it’s full of disgruntled tenants, but it still gives me some hesitation. Apartments at the Sound also has 4 different buildings: Bleecker St, Byron Bay, The Wharf, and Harper’s. Does anyone have some insight on what it’s like to actually live in one of these complexes? Noise, bugs, trash, security, floor level recommendations, etc, I’d love to hear some of your experiences!

I currently work in Dallas with a hybrid schedule, so I’m not worried too much about the commute.

Coming in from out of town. Plans are blown for Thursday and need something to do.

Hey y’all,

I’m driving in to Dallas tomorrow for a concert that was canceled at Ferris Wheelers (DFA 1979). I figured that since I have nothing to do for a couple of days, I would still check out Dallas.

The thing is that I’ve been to Dallas once in the 90s, so I have no idea what Dallas has to offer. Could someone provide some cool spots to check out? I’ll still try to find a show to attend somewhere, but I’m not sure where to go.

I’ll be going with my gf, so do y’all know of cool bars or restaurants you could recommend? Honestly, anything would help.
