Looking for work in Garland, one year sober, face tattoos, rough life. But I’m very kind, motivated, and reliable.

Just hit one year sober today, I’ve been looking for work for some time and I’ve posted here before as well. I’ve put in hundreds of applications with very little luck. I can start immediately, work any shift, and can learn just about anything given enough time. I have experience with kitchens mostly

Edit: found some work! Look up Premium Acosta Walmart retail specialist if you also need work. Good luck out there everyone 🖤

Question About Firewheel Golf Community Houses

Hi, I had a few questions for the folks who live in the housing community over by the firewheel golf course.

Do they mow all the grass every morning and is it loud/annoying?

Has your house been hit by any golf balls?

Does living by the golf course cause your insurance to cost more?

Do you have any concerns about the chemicals being used on the golf course lawn affecting the local water?

What has your experience been like dealing with the HOA?

Thanks!

What is the tallest building in Garland?

Been thinking about this… I think it’s the Chase Bank downtown (5 stories), not sure if there are any taller ones

Even surrounding suburbs have taller ones:

  • Richardson: State Farm office towers - tallest is 21 stories
  • Mesquite: Town East Tower (7 stories
  • Rockwall: Trend Tower (7 stories)

Haircut recommendations for men with longer hair

Hey! So my hair is about shoulder length and quite thick, and I was looking to get it cleaned/thinned out/etc, possibly a bit more stylized too, I am not truthfully used to how to cut longer hair. The last few times I just went to Great Clips and it just wasn't working right for me. I feel like my hair keeps just getting poofier and it makes me self conscious, but I do want it around the length it is. I feel like I need to get it cut by someone with more expertise with longer men's hair. I am probably only getting it cut once every few month so don't mind if it's slightly pricier, but not looking to break the bank either. Any good recommendations?

Finally ditched Spectrum

I finally left spectrum since AT&T had a cheaper rate and faster internet. I know AT&T may not always have the best reputation but good grief, Spectrum kept me on the line for 30 minutes calling me a fool for switching and telling me how I made the worst decision of my life. The agent called me a liar several times and could not fathom why anyone would leave Spectrum. I know their job is to prevent me from leaving but that seemed a little extreme. Their attitude was the final push I needed.

Anyone saw what happened at the train tracks on W Avenue?

There was a cargo train pulling what seems to be military vehicles. It happened around 1:55pm. Anyone know what’s going on or where are those vehicles heading?

Sprinkler Installer Recommendations

Does anyone have any recommendations for sprinkler installation companies. Looking for legit companies, not someone who does this on the side or whatever, someone that I know will still be in business 3-5 years from now, etc.

Sleep Medication Alternatives?

I’ve been dealing with sleep problems for a long time due to stress and other reasons. I saw a psychologist who prescribed me a sleep medication, but I didn’t like its effects. I’m considering using melatonin, but before that, I’d like to check my blood levels. Would I be able to do this at the emergency department of a hospital, or is there a cheaper place where I can get it checked for between $20-50? I’ve been in the country for a year now, and I’m on my own, which has added to my stress and makes it difficult for me to sleep.

Found Lost Male White/Black Pitbull in Garland **Help**

Hey everyone,

Found an adult male white mix pit bull with black spots with a grey collar in my neighborhood. He is merely lost and not a stray. Very friendly and sweet as well as neutered.

Found him in coomer creek neighborhood off of Clearhaven and W Schreiber St.

I was able to take him to Med Vet animal hospital to check for a chip and was able to locate it.

Chip: 985141003516232

Unfortunately I have a dog and cannot keep him with me, and all animal shelters are closed today after calling 30 different places. I took him back to where I found him on clearhaven street.

If anyone is able to please pass this along and/or post to Facebook/nextdoor for visibility I would sincerely appreciate it. One of the neighbors said they have seen him the last two days roaming around.

Possible move to Garland area

My husband applied to an open position in Garland, and I'm researching the area. So far it looks like it would be a good fit for our family since we'll need access to a sub specialty at Dallas Children's and close proximity an airport for my work. We have three kids, a 17 year old with autism and special needs, (he would need a good self contained/non-main streamed speecial ed program), and 10 year old twins. It looks like there are some great magnet schools in Garland, but we would likely need start at a regular district school since we'd be coming in mid schoolyear. Are there any elementary or middle schools we should avoid? We would likely rent the first 6-12 months and then buy. My husband previously lived in a small town in the Texas panhandle area and he loved it until he had to move to California for work. We have been looking into moving to TX or NM for a while. Are there any neighborhoods that are more family friendly? Our home purchase budget will be about 300k max, and we'd be happier with a bigger yard and easy going neighbors, (vs. hoa/more upscale housing). Thanks!
