Place to discuss what's happening in the town of Huntersville, North Carolina.

Hello!
My family and I are considering relocating to this town, and we're really excited about the prospect. However, I’ve come across some concerning comments about gun violence in the area, and it's given us a bit of pause. We have young kids, so safety is a top priority for us, as I'm sure it is for many families.
As a current resident, would you mind sharing your honest perspective on this issue? Is gun violence actually a problem here, or is it overblown in certain places online? Any insights or experiences you could share about the community's general safety and your family's experience living there would be incredibly valuable to us. Thanks so much in advance!
Why are the stoplights through the intersection of 77 and Gilead (especially getting off 77N and turning right onto Gilead) so poorly timed?
If you want to turn right onto Gilead and then left onto Statesville, may God have mercy on your soul. When the light turns green, the left turn lane to Statesville is backed up into the middle of the intersection. And by the time the traffic starts moving, the light is red again… Why can’t they fix it?
Is there an update on when that Cashion’s will be demolished so they can start on the turn lane?
The line was pretty long Thursday at the North regional library. I assume this is because it was the first day. Usually when I've voted there's only been a handful of people.
How are the lines today?
I'm thinking Sunday morning may be a good time.
My wife and I are moving from Buffalo NY to the Charlotte area. We came down last year and truly enjoyed the vibe, the people, the whole culture honestly. We visited many areas but Huntersville reminded us of back home. With that being said are there any areas around Charlotte that we should visit that are similar to Huntersville in terms of shops, plazas, restaurants, grocery stores.
Any recommendations are appreciated.
Curious if anyone has a recommendation for a person / company who does in home dog boarding? Our dog is very chill and we'd prefer her to be at home vs. at a boarding facility when we're away.
Does anyone know what that low rumbling sound that is around Huntersville? Sounds like thundering in the distance. I heard it Friday night as well. Andy body know??
I am going to be part of a caravan heading from Maryland to Huntersville to deliver relief supplies. Anything I should know in advance, are we able to get fuel there or how far out should we fuel up. Bringing extra cans of gas with us as well. Not sure this far out how well the areas not directly hit are doing this many days after the hurricane. I think they are having us deliver there to purposely stay out of the more affected areas to act as a staging area..
So I can't find this anywhere (or I'm just blind) but can I bring my own water/drink into the faire?
Hi everyone!
I've been lurking this sub and getting super excited about our potential move. I am a nurse (from Canada) and will be bringing my husband and 2 toddlers, with a big dog. How is the scene over there for families? Which areas and neighbourhoods have good schools and are accessible? We will be renting (hopefully a house) for our initial move until we are settled and more familiar so we wanted to see what the locals would suggest!
Also, we probably would come and visit before our official move for a long weekend. Let us know where we should stay and what spots to hit!
Thank you in advance.
So my bf and I just moved to the area and bought tickets to go to the ren faire on Saturday but want to pull out enough cash beforehand to make sure we have enough for things. Does anyone know how much food and alcoholic drinks roughly cost? This is my first time going so I don't really know what to expect
Hello! I made a post a couple of months ago about me (28F) and my SO (33M) potentially moving down to the area… we have been doing some reading and have come across the whole cancer cluster issue in the huntersville/mooresville/lake Norman area. Can anyone give me any legitimate information on this? Is this something we should take into consideration in moving down? I’m reading a lot of conflicting things and just want to be able to make an informed decision
I’m looking to have a couples shoot with my boyfriend and we want to have it in an open field or in a place with some woods and trees in it. Does anyone know where we could find someplace like this? Please help me make the image in my mind come to life 🙏🏻😩
With I-40 and I-26 closed for possibly 11 months, the traffic on 77 has already jumped with more 18 wheelers especially. Going to be part of life in the area for a good long while
My wife and I are both in our mid 30s and just moved from Miami. We both work remotely from home and we don’t have immediate family close so we don’t really meet many people in our day to day. Looking to meet anyone else in our similar stage of life who’s open to new friends. We like hiking, live music, hanging out by our pool, and taking our little dog to the park. This isn’t a swinger thing I promise 🤣
DO NOT BOARD AT LUCKY DOG! The dogs are most definitely not lucky when they're here.
Our two dogs have come home covered in pee multiple times. When we dug further into it we found out they were NOT caring for our dogs. They have only 2 handlers for upwards of 100 dogs. One of our dogs came home with a huge gash on his face and they didn't catch it, or report it to us. They come home anxious every boarding visit.
When we dug further we found out that one of our dogs was so anxious she was chewing on a cot (she doesn't chew things at home, or any other boarding place we've ever used.) Instead of telling us, they just made a note in their system that she doesn't get a cot... We asked them to kennel together and so both of our dogs were sleeping on cold hard tile floor for their entire stays, sometimes as long as a week or two when we've taken longer trips. Instead of taking any responsibility for any of this they blamed our dogs.
Their manager confirmed to me they don't require handlers have ANY certifications or qualifications. I asked for a GM or assistant GM to get in touch with me about whether they even do background checks and they are ignoring us.
Lucky Dog used to be great when they were family owned. Roughly around 2022 they were bought out by a corporation called Village Pet and it's clear they are trying to suck as much profit out of the business while they can. They've raised their rates and cut down on the staff. In NC handlers can only have 10 dogs out per handler so your pets are NOT getting as much attention or outside time as they should be.
This place is the worst. We have 4 friends that also used Lucky Dog and after hearing what was happening they're also finding another boarding place. We'll be telling anyone who will listen to ABSOLUTELY DO NOT BOARD YOUR DOGS HERE.
The Huntersville Post Office on Gilead Rd is a joke. Pathetic service. If there is any way to avoid it then you’d be making a wise decision. Once my PO Box expires, I am done with them forever.
We have a variety of work that we are hoping to get done, including hardwood replacement, carpet replacement, some water stain clean up, and a bathroom remodel.
I'm sure people here have had both positive and negative experiences with general contractors here in Huntersville, we would love to hear about it!
I just moved back to Huntersville after being at college for 3 years and all of my childhood friends are either still at college or have moved away so I’m looking to make some new friends. I was wondering if anyone knows of any book clubs that are accepting new members? I feel like that would be the perfect place to find people I could really connect with as an avid reader myself :)
My husband and I are hoping to relocate to northern Charlotte in the next few months. I did previously live in Concord (near the SuperTarget) for about a year before moving out of state, and liked that area, though I wish we were a little closer to some things that were only on the 77 side of CLT (ex. Costco). Some of his family has lived in CLT on the south side for a long time, so he's more familiar with the south side of town, but not so much the north. We've decided at this point, with what we know from my previous time on the 85 side of town and where our friends/family in the area are, we'd prefer to be on the 77 side of town, and are primarily looking at Mooresville, but haven't ruled out Huntersville (or Cornelius if something we liked were to open up there).
We are both young (mid/late 20s), and are planning to start a family in the next couple years, so the schools and access to things like daycare (which I know is a bit of a nightmare everywhere right now) are important to us, but we still wanting access to smaller/local family-friendly restaurants and sports bars--we are still in our 20s!
My husband works remotely and therefore a commute will not be an issue for him. I on the other hand am expecting that I will be splitting my work time between uptown (2 days a week) and off of exit 58 in Concord (almost to Kannapolis; 2 days a week). I will be working 10s instead of standard 8-5 hours, so I will hopefully be able to miss at least one rush hour of each drive if I time it correctly.
Since we currently live out of state, we will have limited time to explore our options ourselves and would love any feedback we can get about the these areas. What's the commute really like from both places to Uptown (what about if you're willing to pay/take the toll roads)? What about across town to Concord? When is rush hour really the worst (which way should I push my 10 hour shift on a given day/route)? What areas in each town are more/less congested just trying to get around doing day-to-day stuff? Who has better schools? What are y'all's opinions of the feel of the areas/the people there, etc.? Open to any and all feedback you can give, as we're hoping to buy a house and not move again (we've been in apartments since we were 18 and 16 respectively, so we're SO over renting).
Hi!
My boyfriend and I will be relocating to NC (Huntersville/Mooresville) area in the spring for my job & just need some advice on where to live and where not to live?
Has anyone lived at The Fairways at Birkdale Apartments or The Verandas at Lake Norman Apartments? Those are our top two spots which we will go visit in November. But any help is appreciated if there’s a better place to check out. Ideally, 2bd/2ba around $1500 near shopping/grocery.
Also - good companies to work for in general or good for veterans? My boyfriend has a pharmacy tech/pharmaceutical manufacturing background and was in the navy for 10 years.
Thank you!!!
Are there any locations that anyone is aware of that would be good for a family photo session with a backdrop of overgrown grass, leaves and perhaps some wild flowers?
Anything but the typical latta nature preserve, Jetton park etc - photographed there a lot already
Any greenways ?
As I sit through a now 4 hour power outage on a sunny day, it amazes that Electricities has no "after hours" phone system but relies on the local police. Their outage map hasn't been updated. Their website directs you to their Twitter page which was last updated in Dec 2023. We've lived in 4 states in 5 years and Electricities is by far the worst. It's 2024... try and use some technology, like a website.
Hi all. My fiancé and I are considering making a move down to Huntersville and specially Monteith Park. Is Monteith Park a good area? We toured a few houses and really liked a couple, but it seems there are several houses for sale and no one is purchasing so it seemed a bit strange to us. Any and all information on the area would be greatly appreciated. Or if you have recommendations for other neighborhoods that would be great. Thanks!
We just moved to Huntersville from another part of the Charlotte region, and we both love to run. So far we’ve run on the Torrence Creek Greenway and in our neighborhood. We enjoy both, but would like some more variety! Suggestions welcome …
