Does anyone know a commuting carpool or a bus directly to Uptown Charlotte?
My boyfriend is coming to hickory to spend Halloween with me and I want to make sure he has a good time since he’s not really seen hickory. Does anyone know the best places for adults (we are 28) to go in hickory for Halloween? We are interested in having a drink but also would like to avoid a lot of college kids getting drunk if possible.
Anybody know any good locations to take the kids out for trick or treating?
Hello, my partner and I are planning on moving to Hickory next spring and have our eye on the legends apartments. We will be touring places at the beginning of the year, but I would love some opinions about the place if you or someone you know lives/has lived there. Some questions/concerns below:
-It looks like they have a wide variety of interior looks, some being much more dated than others.
-We have a dog that we walk multiple times a day, so relative safety/walkability is important to us.
-we both work from home and were wondering if internet access or power is a common issue outside of severe storms
-I would love to know how restricted their lease terms are regarding what is allowed on the deck, our current rental does not allow privacy screens or mosquito netting
-any noise issues?
If you are able to reply I would greatly appreciate any additional perspectives from locals. Thank you :)
Does anyone know what's up with the Flight Club??? SERIOUSLY...
They've been "working" on the location in Valley Hills Mall for pretty much the entire year. They then FINALLY opened around the end of summer I think, after months and months of delays and excuses on their social media. I came by one day and the music was LOUD and it seemed like so much fun. I've tried to call to book a private class. I can't ever get anyone to answer the phone number for the business. The windows are tinted out and it seems superrrrrrrrrrr secretive. I never see anyone coming or going and I'm in the mall just about every week, if not twice a week. My nephew works in the mall and I bring him food, as I just live right behind it.
My bestfriend said one of her coworkers at the vet office took a class there and the owner was super rude and judgy... but even with rude and judgy behavior I was still kinda interested (curiosity killed the cat, ya know?). Rude and judgy doesn't scare me, LOL. I came to the mall today (Saturday 10/26) to exchange pants at Torrid... and of course, the Flight Club was closed, lights off, and doors locked, per usual. I went next door to another business to ask question. The lady working that store said she hasn't heard any commotion over there today so she wasn't sure if they were open or not, but told me I could go to their website to book a 'flight'. She said you book a "flight time" online and then show up for your class time. She said some classes were early in the morning and some were during the week and weekend... which seems to be pretty diverse.
She was helpful and kind, but even still - her being kind and helpful doesn't answer the question of: WHY are they a brand new business and never ever open... why is it an act of congress to get an answer on the phone... why is all social media down for this place?? Literally their facebook page has been completely removed - when you google them, it takes you to a "this content is no longer available" notice on FB... NO Google reviews or even listed as a local business... they have a website that only shows TWO available times this week??? (Which I believe the girl from the neighboring company when she said they have MANY classes throughout the week with tons of class offerings and times) but maybe this recently changed? There are minimal options online. I see the classes are $18 for a "flight"... how are they affording such a HUGE space in the mall with minimal openings, minimal activity and even less social media or internet presence??? I know the mall isn't cheap, my nephew talks about the rent there all the time. This is just bizarre behavior for a new business!!!!!! I know the first rule about FIGHT Club is "don't talk about FIGHT CLUB" but it seems as if this place is even more secretive. I just want to burn some calories and have fun doing it. This isn't a great way to conduct business...
Are there any local discords or groups on Reddit or whatever with active players? The new content released can require dozens of people at once and it would be awesome to be able to organize meeting up with a lot of people.
Thanks,
I know a few years back I witnessed a group of people paddling on Lake Hickory dressed as witches for Halloween and was curious if anyone knows about a group that does that to this day? I don’t have Facebook so I can’t check on there! Any info would be appreciated!

This is sort of a hail mary, but here goes. My young at heart and fully able bodied 85-year-old dad is slowly dying from boredom! He fully retired just 2 years ago, has no real hobbies, and his friend group has been whittled away by death, dementia, and relocations. Now all he does is watch Fox News and complain about his boredom. Can any of you Hickory folk recommend things for the young of heart to do? Where should I look for interesting talks, shows, and the like? Is there a senior group that you know of fun-loving people? Is there a place where he could go to dance or listen to music? Where do the retiree crowd hang out? I would be so grateful if you would send any ideas my way! Thanks.
Im sure everyone is aware early voting is underway until Nov 2.
Just wanted to put a PSA out that locations are also open on Sunday, I didn’t know this until today.

Could someone please help me with directions for getting to Pigeon Forge from Hickory or Morganton area? I have to go to Pigeon Forge for work tomorrow, and I am struggling to find a route that doesn't include closed roads such as I40W. I had figured that the more popular apps would have updated these things by now. I have tried Google Maps and Waze, and both are still trying to send me up I40W which is obviously out of the question. I would really appreciate any help anyone can offer me. Thank you!
