Need Help Finding a Place to Care for My Dog While I'm Away

Hi everyone,

I’m facing some personal matters that require me to travel back to my home country for a while, and I’m looking for a trustworthy place where I can leave my dog during that time. Ideally, I’d like to find a sanctuary or a similar environment where he can be well cared for, get some socialization, and feel comfortable while I’m away.

Does anyone have recommendations for good dog care facilities or sanctuaries in the charlotte area? (Although ill travel for him) I’d really appreciate any advice or suggestions!

Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone! I am looking for a room to rent in Fort Mill - I currently live in York. I am very respectful and low maintenance. I like to spend time by myself, but I also like hanging out with people. If you have a room or know of anyone in the area who does please let me know!! Thank you!

Late night diners?

Charlotte has Red Eye Diner and Midnight Diner that stay open quite late into the night. Does Fort Mill/Rock Hill have something similar that’s not Waffle house?

Study group

Would any college students in fort mill be interested in a study group? I’m currently a sophomore at an all online university and have trouble keeping myself motivated for school since I work full time. Hoping that having a group will keep me consistent and focused. Let me know! :)

Serving jobs near Fort Mill

Hi all! I’m new to the Fort Mill area and my sister just moved down here too. She is an excellent server with 5+ years of experience and looking for evening and weekend work. Shes punctual, sociable, attentive- all the things you’d want in a server! I never go out to eat so I don’t know what restaurants would be good for her to apply to. I’d like to recommend ones that have a casual and upbeat atmosphere and she will make good money from tips. Firebirds sounded like a good option, any others? Thanks!

Would like to know what people think about Kingsley Apartments - any other apartment complexes better in Fort Mill?

HI, I'm a senior currently living on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. My son lives in Fort Mill and would like me to move down there so I'm looking at options. I'm not ready to move into a senior facility. Kingsley Apartments look very promising so I'd like to hear what everybody says about them - pros and cons. I looked at reviews elsewhere and they looked very good with one exception. Someone thought that current renters were getting screwed by the increases when they renewed their lease and advised people to get a 15-month lease. I wonder if they have a facebook group for residents and a cribbage group (any other cribbage groups near Fort Mill?). Any comments are very welcome. If you know of any better apartment complexes in Fort Mill, I'd like to know about them too. Thank you very much.

any hole in the wall bars?

new to the area and am in my lower/mid twenties— anywhere in particular the younger crowd goes? not like a “party” vibe but more like a pool bar or something of that sort.

Move Silfab Solar Update

,

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to keeping our community safe. We’re reaching out to update you on three key legal actions regarding the Silfab Solar project. These cases are essential in our fight to relocate heavy industry out of our residential and school-adjacent areas.

  1. Silfab's Appeal of the BZA Decision

Silfab has appealed the BZA decision, but York County claims this appeal doesn’t apply to Silfab. Recently, the judge allowed Walter Buchanan, an adjacent property owner, to intervene in the case. This means any agreement between Silfab and York County will require Wally's approval—a significant protection against any backroom deal. Wally’s only condition for agreement is that Silfab moves to a different location, ensuring our community’s safety remains the priority.

  1. Appeal Against the Air Permit Approval

Walter Buchanan, represented by attorney Cam Halford, has filed an appeal to the Administrative Law Court (ALC) challenging the decision by the SCDES to grant an air permit to Silfab (pending a reduction in stack height from 70' to 50'). A judge has been assigned, and a hearing date is expected to be set soon. Once the date is confirmed, the air permit will be considered "contested," thereby invalidating the York County building permits. We expect this will halt Silfab’s construction until the court reaches a decision.

  1. CAGI Lawsuit Against York County, Silfab, and Exeter

Citizens Alliance for Government Integrity (CAGI) has filed a lawsuit, represented by Cam Halford, against York County, Silfab, and Exeter, the property owner. CAGI has requested that the judge void any permits granted after the May 9, 2024, BZA ruling, which would impact Silfab’s current standing permits. We anticipate responses from each party by November 15th, and a temporary restraining order (TRO) has been requested. A hearing date is expected in December, and we’ll keep you posted on developments. How you can help: Take Action

Best Internet Service Provider?

Hi!

So I'm moving soon to Indian Land and wanna know which internet service I should get?

From what I read online, seems like the best bet is Comporium. Spectrum seems like a no-go. AT&T Air doesn't have much info on it and seems like not too many people use it in the area.

If you were to recommend Comporium, is their Standard service good enough for one person or do I need the ZipStream?

Any help and/or advice would be great!

Hey future neighbors!

Like the title implies, we're moving to Fort Mill in the next few weeks! We've been on the home search for a while and Fort Mill checks all our boxes. We've gotten out bid a few times which has been a bummer. Getting your hopes up and then losing out is never fun but we managed to find a great spot in one of the new build neighborhoods. We'll be pretty close to the Baxter Y too so that'll be our new gym I think. Haven't been there yet so hoping it's nice!

We've been living in Noda for the last few years and it's time to leave the apartment life and get back to the burbs! See you all in a few weeks!

Building on land

We’re looking to move to Fort Mill area (2 young kids) but I can’t stand the look and quality of the craftsman style developments. Every time I look at Redfin it’s the exact same house just with different finishes and location.

I love the style of either 1960s/70s ranch style with vaulted ceilings or very modern clean lines new build. Do these exist in the area? If not, can we find a good quality builder that isn’t already taken up making ‘builders grade’ developments? Any idea on the cost per square foot for this?

Going for work need some great food recs

As the title shows, I'll be going for work next week to Ft Mill, SC. I live in Houston Texas so BBQ and Latin food (Mexican, Colombian, Salvadorian, etc)is big for us. I've tried Improper Pig and loved it. Any other restaurants recommended or styles of food. I can drive to Charlotte as well. What is SC/NC known for in terms of food. Anything cool I might want to see? First time I went, I stayed in hotel mostly but would like to see more of Ft Mill/Charlotte.

Early intervention programs for speech delayed children over 3 years old?

Moving to Fort Mill in 2025 with my toddler who is pretty speech delayed. We currently live in CT and are enrolled in Birth to Three, not sure if it’s called that everywhere but it’s early intervention. He is going to be evaluated soon by our towns school district to see if he qualifies for their speech IEP through the 3s preschool program. If he does qualify, he would start the day after his 3rd birthday.

I’m wondering if Fort Mill/SC has anything like this or if I will need to enroll him in some kind of private speech therapy/preschool? If the private route, has anyone been through this before and have any recommendations?

Possibly moving to the area!

hi Fort Mill!

i’m a 30 something single mother, and it seems like Fort Mill ticks a lot of my boxes as a place for my son and I to move to for a fresh start. my biggest piece of concern is services for tweens/teens with mental health concerns.

what type of services are available within a… 1.5 hour radius staying in SC, as he will likely qualify for medicaid/government insurance(he currently receives benefits from the SSA)? he’s done a residential placement, has an iep, etc.

thanks in advance!

New church goer

Looks like I’ll be staying in the Fort Mill/Tega Cay area for awhile. I’m 25f and I’m looking to get back into church. Are there any recommendations for a more modern church in the area? Maybe somewhere that offers evening women’s groups or things like that? TIA

Should we move to Fort Mill?

Did I find the perfect place for us to move?

We are in our early-mid 30s with 2 boys 2.5 years and 4 months. We have lived in CT/NY our entire lives. I lost my job a couple years ago, and we’ve been getting by until now. We’re going to list our house in the spring and we’re pretty flexible on where we can go. I’ve always wanted to do a big move out of state, prior to meeting my husband I had dreams of moving to CO for the mountains. We are right leaning, social, outdoorsy people. I am less fond of the snow and cold as I get older. Don’t like extreme heat either. We will be renting for a few years.

Some other must haves for us—

  • 3+ bedroom rent between 2-3 k
  • suburban area with a small town feel (within 30-45 mins of a bigger city
  • decent schools
  • younger, tight knit community
  • lots of things to do within an hour or 2
  • within 15- 30 mins of nature
  • within 30 mins of a decent community college

With all of that said, after extensive research, I have settled on Fort Mill. I feel like this place checks most if not all of our boxes. Can anyone tell me if anything I described is wildly off?

I realize the population has been rapidly increasing, but you can save the “we’re full” comments because there wouldn’t be houses for sale or rent if that were true 🙂
