What do you guys do during the winter? I am in Raleigh and mostly kayak fish. I do some crappie fishing this time of year, but that's about it. How's the inshore on the cost during the cold? Anyone head to SC to do some fishing?
Hi, I'm about to move to the area and plan on doing some shrimping in the Currituck Sound. I hear that the area has a lot of Crab but, not too much about shrimp. Does anyone have any experience with shrimping in the Currituck Sound area?
I want to go trout fishing, I have a little 3k size spinning setup, but there so many different maps with certain regulations and I don’t know what to look at as a definitive answer. Anyone have any input?
What’s up, y’all! My name’s Trey, 37/M, and I’m new to the area (Holly Springs). I’m looking to meet some fellow outdoor enthusiasts—hunting, fishing, camping, and all that good stuff.
If you know of any must-visit spots around here or have a group that gets together for outdoor activities, I’d love to connect. I’ve heard Jordan Lake is nice (though pretty popular), and I know there’s some public game land near Harris too- that said, I haven’t come across any hunting clubs or lodges around here that seem worth a damn.
Any advice, recommendations, tips, or just general message board bs is appreciated.
Looking forward to meeting y'all and maybe teaming up for a hunt, fishing trip, or a weekend in the woods. ✌️
I’ve been almost to every pond and lake I can fish from the bank or pier. It seems there is absolutely no where to fish unless you have some sort of boat or a kayak, or if you know someone with a private pond. Can anyone give me some pointers or spots it’s been months without getting a decent fish ):
Can anybody point me to the direction where I can go fishing from a dock/ pier and not have to use a boat in Charlotte I’ve had absolutely no luck it seems that water is either too pressurized or it’s all private ponds/lakes in the area. Maybe even fishing in creeks? Anyone have suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Hi everyone. I’m looking for small ponds with bank access around or near Winston Salem. I don’t mind driving to good spots. My usual spot is tanglewood park. I currently for some small ponds around a novant health office but doesn’t seem to have many. I know some people don’t like giving up spots but if you’re willing to message me that’s fine with me. I don’t have a boat or kayak so smaller ponds would be best for me. My main target fish is large mouth bass.
I've been getting interested in Euro style carp fishing and was curious about the opportunity in the Eastern part of the state. I know there's tons of pay lakes further west but I live in Jacksonville and don't intend on driving that far. I don't need specific spots but I just want to know if they're present around the Neuse and Tar or if there are any ponds that hold them.
My parents just moved into their retirement home near Boone. My dad doesn't fish much and probably has no preference for what species he targets, as long as it's something he can do from the banks of the rivers in northwestern NC. What sort of gear would you include in a starter pack? Seems like fly fishing for trout is the most common method out there, but I think he would appreciate a rod/ tackle that could also be used for lakes in the Piedmont and saltwater out east
I’m going to start wade fishing this winter once the trout and reds leave the surf and start seeking out the creeks so I can get more days fishing. Anyone doing this and looking for a new fishing buddy?
I’m in Fayetteville but I’m within 2.5hrs of just about all coastal fishing south of Harker’s Island.

I'm looking for a place where in NC where we would need to hike for a few hours just to reach the fishing spot, it could be a lake or a river. We do have Ultra light camping gear and want to stay for 2 nights before hiking back.
Does anyone know of such spots in NC or close to NC?
Thanks for any help 🙏
I just moved to NC, about an hour east of Greenville. I've fished a bit before and wanted to try out some bass and catfish fishing here, but I'm not sure where to start. I've tried some spinners at Shoupe's Landing on the Chowan river, but had no luck. If anyone is willing to share some helpful tips or places to try I'd be so grateful.
New here, a little desperate for advice on the best pier(s) to fish with my dear old dad. We were at the Bogue pier a month ago, seemed okay. A friend said Avon's the best. Would be fishing the first week of November. THANKS in advance.

Caught in Lake Brandt
hi everyone, I am traveling from SC to NC for a quick trip and found a nice airbnb on lake gaston. I have a 9ft inflatable raft/boat with a trolling motor. Is this something I would need to get some form of registration for in NC or no because it will only be 1-2 days? TYIA
I typically visit the Nags Head area once a year. It would be nice to meet locals who fish in the sound (Oregon inlet kayak launch, Manteo, and places further south). If anybody is willing to fish with an out-of-towner let me know. It would be appreciated.
How does one find tournaments in the area? Thank you.
Don't know if anyone can provide insight here but I have been carp fishing at lake Crabtree for many years, spring, summer, fall. Outside.of the occasional off day I would always kill it 5+ good carp if not more. Ive been multiple times this year, and some late last year, every type of condition, Ive caught maybe 2 carp and just a bunch of tiny channel cats. I don't know if something has changed or if I've just caught a crazy strong of bad luck. If someone knows the lake better than I'd do id appreciate any insight.
I love to fish and my recent vacation reignited love of it. I’ve mainly been fishing from the surf and bottom fishing on the pier but I want to try my hand on catching mackerel now.
Im completely clueless on how to go about it since apparently targeting mackerel is more complicated than just bottom fishing one thing I’m told is I’ll need two rods, why do I need two rods and how do I set them up?
Any other general suggestions for a beginner?
Thanks in advance.
Looking for a good river or creek on the south side of Charlotte for good bass fishing, any recommendations?
So I got my fishing license a few weeks ago and promptly lost it. Is there a way to look it up online?
Hey guys,
I wanna take up fishing as a hobby but I’ve never done it before. I live in charlotte and I was wondering if anyone could help me out with where to start.
