For the past week or two, my internets been slow on hot days. Around 27c and it drops from 50/20 to around 3mbps. Don’t know what to do or how to fix it, my ISP is TPG Telecom
Most of Canberra is still on FTTN with no planned upgrades to FTTP of HFC. How many other metro areas that are still on copper?
Hi there I know these questions have been asked before earlier in the year
But this has happened now for the second time. When asking the ISP to lock the address so this can’t keep happening they said they would give me a PRI number? I don’t know what this is and how this can help. They won’t give any info to what ISP is taking over
My address is listed incorrectly frustratingly as a unit 1 rather then the letter numeral it is actually set up as. I have asked my neighbours and they advised they haven’t set up internet or changed recently. Do I trust this PRI number or do I need to take further action to somehow get it locked to race this from happening.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thankyou
Got absolutely terrible speeds from this isp. Signed up on nov 20th and cancelled on dec2. Spoke to their customer service and they weren’t helpful. Moved to another provider on dec2 and charge backed the amount. Should I pay it off?
Please do your maintenance between 3-5 am
Hi everyone,
I've recently been given a TP-Link Archer AX72 pro router and was hoping to use it with a nf20mesh that would be in bridge mode.
Unfortunately I can't seem to find a guide to save my life, I was hoping someone might have experience with this and could help
I'm with Aussiebb and have an nbn arris cm8200 box
Thanks
Gday guys,
I’ve got a Netcomm NF18 mesh that displays a red light on power, MAY power on but dies randomly and today it just seems to not want to provide any internet.
I’ve had this for a good while maybe 5 or so years, is this thing dead?
hey hello !! im moving out with my partner on monday, and i dont understand a single number in terms of nbn stuff. rent's 400/week, we're looking for cheaper plans, we both game online probably 4 nights a week (i have a pc, he has a ps5, and we both have laptops). whats best? im happy to swap plans after the first year bonus stuff has finished. thx in advance :)))
I have an edgerouter Lite which does not give me anywhere near 1000 Mbps. When i connect to the NBN box directly with a PC i get around 900Mbps but when the Edgerouter is connected i am getting speeds of around 200Mbps. Is anyone else having this issue with the router?
thank you in advance
I vaguely recall seeing an article about NBN brining multi gigabit speed, but it was back in MAY
Has there been any indication that this went further ? We moved to gigabit on FTTP about a year ago. But ive been keenly waiting for more news on the faster plans. Also the article mentions a price drop on the other existing tiers but it seems like this has evaporated as a discussion topic
so apparently the issue im experiencing is due to a mismatch with the NBN box serial number and my address, a technician who was called out to me a few days ago told me this, and i was told tk wait 24 - 48 hours for it to be updated. it’s been longer than 48 hours and i called my ISP, my ISP told me to email NBN, and now i’m wondering who will i receive an update from?
i understand that NBN is a wholesaler and don’t deal with individuals directly but this is annoying. i don’t want to be contacting my ISP every week for the same issue.
hi ya, not that familiar with tech things here, i previously had the nbn box and a huawei router working no problems. i have bought a mesh deco xe75 and it didn't go too well. from what i can tell the mesh router doesn't have a modem and that is my problem, does that mean that the huawei router had a modem within it and the xe75 does not? and i'd have to buy an additional router? feels like i made a bad purchase. thanks for any help or tips
Hey Guys, I wanted to try Southern phone for the first time But I just wanted to know if they offer to opt out from CGNAT and if so, is it free of charge? TY
Long story short:
Old Modem kept losing internet
Was told due to Old Modem (5 years old), 5G conflicts. Sent out new Modem.
New Modem installed and set up. Still no internet. No outages either. [Sunday]
Reset Modem Monday morning. 4G Backup Internet only. Called Optus to get assistance. Didn't get far. Also told that a technician would call next day, 8am-12pm.
Next day. Internet is even slower (4G Backup). No call received during advised hours (8-12). Called. Advised a Technician will call in an hour. Two hours later, no call.
Called Optus once again - advised there is a "Victoria-wide" disconnect issue that isn't reported anywhere.
Anyone else had trouble with Optus lately?
At this point, happy to receive recommendations for new providers, because it's just been issue after issue, and not only that, every time we call Optus Support, we get put through to Indian staff who can't speak English that well, or have such a thick accent and horrible mic, that it makes it near impossible to understand what is being said.
Afternoon everyone, I am deciding to jump on over to Leaptel. I am currently on dodo and it's been pretty shocking, so now my discount is up it's time to go because I'm not paying $90 for this. Just a question as to how well my NetComm, NF18MESH would do with the Leaptel network? It looks like it's compatible but I am a bit of a novice so was after some more certain advice. Thanks!
Recently we've had NBN come out to completely replace and overhaul our FTTC technology. It was extensively damaged. This meant a replacement of the DPU, new cabling between the pit and property and the wiring between the utility box to telephone port. Plus a new NCD.
However, we've been getting constant dropouts ever since (~5 to 10 times per day). It's always been the DSL and LAN lights that drop.
We're at a loss at what the cause for this could possibly be. Before having to get our connection repaired, it was always stable. Any ideas?
Around 1:15 elderly mother received a landline call from “NBN” saying they wanted to test our Internet speeds due to work in the area. We actually are having work done in the area so at first I complied by testing speeds using speedtest.net by Ookla on both iPhone and laptop - didn’t download the apps.
Following this is where it became smelly: I was transferred to their “senior engineer - Kevin Alan - to receive my customer(?) number.
I told him I didn’t have time to do anything and had to go. He said “go where?” Um… ok. I then said I’m going and he started badgering me “go where? This will only take 30 mins”
After that I said do not call this number again, but as I was saying that he tried to transfer (or was in process to transfer) me to someone else. I hung up.
Googled this to see it’s a scam. Thought I’d share - and - hopefully someone can confirm they wouldn’t have been able to hack anything.
Hello, since upgrading to FTTP and switching to Superloop about a month ago, I've been experience drops in my internet speed every 15-30 minutes
It cuts out for just a few seconds and then reconnects fine. It occurs on multiple devices, even tried different wifi adapters on one device and it still continues
Would this be an issue with the ISP or?
For the last month, maybe two this has been my Internet experience.
After being told it was:
- My cables (a Panduit patch cable runs from my NTD to my router), I replaced them about 7 times with new cables from different manufacturers.
- My Router (It was not) I tested it with a spare router I had (Ubiquiti Edge Router X) which forced me to rebuild my whole network. Then I was told to eliminate that one as a cause and purchased a UDM SE which forced me to then rebuild the network again
- I then plugged a laptop directly into the NTD and ran a powershell script which constantly pinged cloudflare and logged it to a notepad file, This proved the NTD was dropping the connection.
- I was then told to use the Aussie App to test the NTD each time it went down (the network is down for 2 minutes in most instances which makes it almost impossible to run the test before the network is up again)
- I was then told to run the NTD check and the Loopback check each time the Internet went down because apparently the NTD test wasn't enough
All because according to the ISP, NBN will not replace an NTD unless you can prove it's the fault of the NTD.
God help someone who isn't technical and God help me if it's the HFC inbound from the pit that is buggered.
Just wanted to share my experience with everyone..
I live South of Perth, currently have FTTN on Aussie BB for the past 3 years or so, cant complain about this connection, pretty constant 90+MB down, I live in a semi rural area. Aussie BB have been great.
Received an email from NBNco saying I was eligible for the free upgrade to FTTP in my area, I quickly jumped on that chance and phoned Aussie BB who easily made the arrangements for the upgrade. I was told to expect a 2-4 week wait for NBN to attend, no worries.
To my surprise I got a text message only about 2 hours later, saying the NBN tech will be attending in 2 days time, wow, quite pleasantly surprised by this.
I had done a lot of reading here and other forums with the various expectations on what will occur during the install and seemingly the variation depending on the contractor themselves as to the effort they will goto, especially with the placement of the internal NTD box, this part is what worried me the most as where I wanted the box was around 15m from the lead in.
Tech arrived on time, lovely chap, happy to explain what he had to do and asked me where I wanted the box to go, I showed him and to my surprise he was more than happy to accommodate, it probably helped there was an old conduit line running down the wall, however it still meant he would have to run a cable through the roof to this point, so I was worried this still might be a deal breaker once he looked inside the roof.
To my surprise he agreed to do it, saying my roof space 'wasn't good or bad' lol, he did however tell me that most installers would not do this and they would instead insist that I pay a cabler to run the cable across, which I kind of expected him to say actually, so I was very pleased when he happily climbed into the roof space and managed to get the cable across !!
After running the fibre from the street he quickly then had everything setup and ready to activate. I have had a problem with the activation of the connection, I'm told its a network team issue, something to do with the line itself and need the network team to have a look, so not this tech's fault, but needless to say a bit of a let down after this guy had gone above and beyond to help.
He did tell me that NBN have employed more tech's, so they haven't been as busy lately, which may explain why I got such a quick appointment... lets hope the Network remediation team can be as efficient?!
If you've been offered the upgrade in Perth, now's the time to take it, you maybe pleasantly surprised like I was!.
Never had wifi / NBN in the household Not sure if 50 or 100mbp speed is enough for us
1-2 hours gaming daily ( COD multiplayer) type games etc
Streaming online movies ( not downloading or uploading)
4 cameras connected as well as the Hub for them
2 iPhones with occasional social media and YouTube being used
Also my mum wants to go with Optus but I've already spoke to store person and can't offer anything cheaper or better since she's been with them for ages. where as other competitors offer better deals. I told her that loyalty doesn't matter with these companies and told her that Leaptel has better reviews and overall better customer experience. Does anyone else have any experience with Optus or Leaptel or any other providers with good experiences and pros and cons with them? I know this is a little a long but I thought I'd ask people from there own overall experiences Thanks a lot everyone
