Do not purchase nicotine over 100mg/ml or "Pure" nicotine. Anything over 48mg/ml (4.8%) should be handled with protective gear, and anything over 100mg/ml (10%) by professionals. Pure nicotine is 1000mg/ml and incredibly deadly.

Has anybody been able to find nicotine freebase at a Pharmacy, anywhere in the country?

I’m a vet, have the equipment I like and am fast running out of my NZ vape premium red. I cannot find ANYTHING but disposable pods for sale in pharmacies in Melbourne’s inner North.

Any suggestions or tips VERY appreciated, I don’t want to get back on cigarettes, since quitting then for my vape I can’t stand them to be honest.

Cheers

Long term storage of 0mg flavoured juice

Hello friends

I just purchased 12 bottles of 30ml flavoured 0mg juice from VapeKing. I dont intend to use them in the near future. I am just stocking up flavours while I can.

Can I just store them in a cool, dark place instead of the fridge, you think?

Thanks!

Submission

At first I thought I wasn't going to submit, I have submitted to all previous inquiries and it never really made a difference.

So I did submit and thought I'd post it here, perhaps it will provide inspiration to someone.

https://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Committees/OnlineSubmission

Submission

I am currently 55 years old. I started smoking in my teens and continued to do so for around 30 years. I quit around year 2000 but soon discovered I had a bowell disease called Ulcerative Colitis. Apparently it's common to appear after quitting smoking as nicotine helps keep the symptoms at bay. Studies have proven this link.

I returned to smoking a year later after being unable to control my UC. Over the following years I tried many times to quit to only have my UC flare in days.

Eventually I gave up giving up, deciding I would prefer quality of life over length of life. Though I did add a clause that if I found a replacement one day I would pursue it.

2015 I came across someone vaping. I asked them lots of questions to learn about it as well as seeking knowledge online and from vape shops.

On the 13th March 2015 all my orders had arrived. I filled my tank with Nicotine Eliquid and took my first vape. At this exact moment I put down my cigarettes and never touched them again. To this day I have not had another cigarette but I do still vape. Given my health issues I plan to continue vaping for the rest of my life.

I do not use disposables instead opting for refillable tanks and rechargeable devices (mods). I build my own coils, wick them and I make my own Eliquid with relatively simple flavours. This path has also been very cost effective and given my financial position it's a blessing.

All I want to be able to do is continue what I have been doing now for 9 years. I can't quit Nicotine nor can I afford cigarettes or pharmacy vapes.

You have my support in getting vapes out of kids hands, absolutely. But stopping adults accessing vaping to better their health is insane.

The laws that have changed and those about to change will not affect the black market who coincidentally don't follow laws. It will only affect people like me who have till now been following the law. Instead it appears that I will now be considered a criminal for continuing to vape. Yes I have stocked up to last a few years, but I'm really concerned about what happens later. I won't smoke legal cigarettes as I can't afford them so either illegal tobacco or illegal disposables. Personally I'd just prefer a regulated market for adults where I can access vapes just like how I can access alcohol, if I choose to and in any flavour I prefer. Adults like flavours as well and not just tobacco, mint, custard flavour is what got me off smoking.

I get the price increases to cigarettes but this government has really priced themselves out of the market. It's no wonder people look for a cheaper alternative. This ultimately has lead to the government losing 4B in Tobacco excise per year. Therefore introducing harsh laws to get people smoking again to recover the excise.

Does the government really expect to end the disposables market? All they have achieved is the price has risen a little, but they are still everywhere. Have they ended the chop chop market or the trade in illicit drugs? Sorry to say the disposables market will rise and continue from strength to strength. These illegal product sellers don't care who they sell to either, under-age? No problem, what flavour would you like?

So how can the disposables market be stopped?

Regulation is the only answer.

Make refillable rechargeable vapes easy to access (not just through pharmacy with script) but through proper vape shops or kits through other sellers. Don't tax them high, keep them affordable with flavours that adults like.

Adults will then purchase legal products through legal sellers and not disposables through illegal sellers. This will restrict the disposables market size and growth. Over time it may even disappear.

For how to do this, look at New Zealand and United Kingdom. Take the best parts of their laws and make them ours.

Have speciality vape shops that can sell higher strength juice, rebuild supplies, devices, tanks, RDA'S, Nicotine in higher strength for people like me, DIYer.

Other shops like smoke marts, supermarkets, petrol stations even pharmacies can sell lower strength pod devices, rechargeable, replaceable pods.

Allow any flavour but perhaps deny names like unicorn and cartoon style labels. They shouldn't require plain packaging either. Let them be attractive and informative.

Roll back state laws on where you can vape similar to UK. This will encourage vaping over smoking. After all isn't the idea to stop people smoking deadly cigarettes. Sorry government but you will lose income in taxes, but you will gain a healthier population, deal with it.

End all the negative press and research about vaping, it is much healthier than smoking, fact. Not as good as fresh air of course, but magnitudes better than smoking.

Do not pass these laws, roll back the 1st March laws, keep the disposables laws effective 1st January.

Implement new laws to encourage vaping as an alternative to smoking. Make vaping easier to access and usable in more locations. Encourage people to switch, perhaps if they can vape in a pub they just might switch.

Perhaps one day the smoking rate will drop below 5%. Wouldn't that be a massive win for health. But don't try to make up tobacco excise loss with vaping, if it costs too much, people won't do it or at least do it legally.

This is the only sensible effective path to ending youth vaping.

Thankyou

The corruption in tobacco control and the government in Australia is astounding.

This is a good video on what the bans are about. From about 15 mins ......

If you can avoid the prescription model, please do so, lets not legitimise the bullshit.

Free Prescriptions

RelxNow is offering free prescriptions at the moment, not sure if they will send you the actual script but free is free.

EDIT: "Please note, If you wish to use your prescription for dispensing at your local pharmacy we charge a $49 administration fee to provide an electronic copy sent directly to your phone."

  • Script is valid for 12 months. Double the length of QuitRx.

We need an updatable wiki for nicotine prescribers & suppliers

In the past week I've been joining online nicotine vape suppliers and been trying to map who's connected with who & who's selling what, just to better inform smokers who've been asking me about vapes & where to get nicotine legally, and who's only experience with vapes are black market disposables.

The whole thing is one big dog's breakfast.

  • Some services only provide scripts (e.g QuitRx)
  • Some services provide scripts but you can't see your script, which locks you in & you can only buy from their portal store (e.g My Duke, Stoprxonline)
  • Some are only suppliers and require you to upload your script (e.g Quitmed)

Some I'm not sure about, like medicalnicotine. Not sure if medicalnicotine provide scripts like QuitRx, use a locked-in model like My Duke & Stoprxonline, or provide a script and have a separate store to supply patients.

Some allow you to join and see what they sell, but you need to provide a script to buy, or if they only allow their own scripts to be used, you'll need to pay for their scripts before buying.

Some dont allow you to see anything until you've paid for a script. This is insane because even after paying for a script, there's no guarantee they'll sell what you need, and if they do, no guarantee they'll have it in stock. And even if what you need is in stock, there's no guarantee that the product has been stored properly & not already oxidized.

We've had posts that list prescribers & suppliers,

https://redd.it/1b19s9p

https://redd.it/pyuwe1

but I think we really need an updatable wiki/table, with the following fields

  1. Website & name

  2. Dr's name

  3. Prescriber only / Prescriber-locked-in-Supplier / Prescriber-unlocked-Supplier / Supplier only

  4. Cost & length of prescriptions

  5. Ranges sold ; Prefilled pods, empty pods, pod devices, mods, tanks & atomizers, premixed freebase, premixed salts, DIY freebase nic, DIY nic salts

  6. User experiences (e.g reports of oxidized nicotine with links to posts & photos, consistently out of stock items)

No single person can build this. I certainly can't, and quite frankly I've exhausted my patience trying to navigate this mess. But I really believe this table needs to be built so that there's at least some guidance for people who come here looking to move on from black market disposables.

I also think that over time, as "user experiences" build, will help build the case for how bad the vape prescription model is.

Pre-built replacement coils

I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I'm really confused and cant find any direct answers.

Am I legally allowed to buy coils from an online Australian store or not?

This vape ban is incredibly stupid and unclear.

Import success

Has anybody here had success getting nic’d juice through customs, if so what website was it.

I totally miscalculated how much juice I would need and I’m about 2 weeks away from running out.

Banned disposables now available with a script from your local pharmacy!

It appears the 1st of January legislation prohibiting the importation of disposable vapes has done a 180 degree about face! An online company is including, among its catalogue of products, a popular disposable vape in your choice of flavours! All you need is $19, register online, fill out a short questionnaire, (no consultation or face to face with a Doctor), then pay for the script and VOILA! Collect your device, which is now listed as a "prohibited import" for the likes of us mere mortals, from you local Pharmacy!

If this is not hypocrisy in action resulting from the efforts of misinformation, bullshit propaganda, hidden agendas and a complete lack of empathy from one man and his cronies, then I will go out to the bush and live on peace, love and mung beans until we see a change of Government!

What the FUCK is going on in this country?

"The Vape Song" or "An Ode to Buttplug and His Merry Band of Legislators"

OK, lately we've gone through a lot of shit, anxiety and confusion due to Buttplug's legislation and generally fucking with something that wasn't broken. We vapers were happy to just keep doing what we love, and feel is best for our health. So I decided to lighten the mood a bit and share some music with everybody.

I call this "The Vape Song" and it's short, it's silly, it was recorded on my phone and thrown together in about 20 minutes. I'll upload the lyrics if anybody wants them, but I'm sure you can make them out. Enjoy my fellow Australians, and our brothers across the seas!

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-2Ue8YjoSi7Dl-XmhPpMncrXwr_Ze1zq/view?usp=sharing

With apologies to Frank Zappa - this song is an adaptation of his composition "The Air" which featured on the 1969 album 'Uncle Meat". Yes it repeats, but hey what do you want for a 20 minute knock off job done purely from memory?

Interesting Pharmacy Option ?

So doing some research for my senate submission, I DID come across a somewhat 'interesting' (and when I say 'interesting' I mean 'not 2000% completely shit looking at first glance considering the alternatives although it's still fucking piss poor compared to my current mod and tank') device from Bay Pharma called the 'Lula'. It's interesting because it offers a refillable pod. Which potentially means once coils for our normal devices run out (and if I can't learn to build coils in the meantime / switch to an RDA / RTA) it maaaaaaay be a better 'last ditch' alternative to going back on ciggies 😕 ?

Anyone got any experience / thoughts / knowledge about this one ?

https://baypharma.com.au/pages/lula-vaping-device

Edit: Reading the user guide, it's obvious you can't replace the coils on it, so you'd need to buy a whole new device regularly which is obviously a big red cross against it. But again, considering the other pharmacy 'alternatives', I don’t know if this might still not be the 'least of the evil' options for those of us who have stocks of juice and nic but for whatever reason are going to be fucked on the hardware front eventually ?

Re-entering Australia with vapes

Just re-entered Australia with nicotine loaded e-juice. Declared as medication. Customs accepted the nicotine prescription from the Dr and only wanted to know the volume I possessed at hand. Mine was less than 200mls. So passed through, no problem.

Without a prescription, it seems very likely they will confiscate it.

Who is the criminal now?

Butler says the black market for vapes is” funding the criminal activities of organised crime gangs, drug trafficking, sex trafficking and the like”.

And who would be responsible for that then? Well done Butler for increasing criminal activities! IDIOT!

Tobacconists: Disposables still widely available but people are switching to smoking because of price increases

https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/health/health-problems/sydney-tobacconists-still-selling-illegal-vapes-three-months-after-import-ban/news-story/6a2f1a864aa7e24443541f1a0ad1f6c0

The governments plan to increase smoking rates is already seeing results.

tobacconists are still openly selling illegal nicotine vapes, albeit at higher prices.

When asked whether stores were worried how a ban on vapes would affect profits, shopkeepers appeared unaffected.

One worker even claimed customers were switching from vaping to smoking, with sales for cigarettes increasing.

“Before we had high stocks of cigarettes, now we have less,” he said.

“Cigarettes are expensive but we make $10 or $15 a pack.”

It’s a sting for long-term public health measures that have pushed Australia’s daily smoking rates to the lowest among Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) countries.

Best, simple vape for flavour

I’m currently using a Nevoks Feelin X with freebase in a decent quality juice (@6mg).

I’m using a 0.3 Ω coil, typically at 35W

I’m really unhappy with the consistency of the flavour - often it tastes toasty & I’ve been reading up on burned coils.

I’m confident that I’m priming them properly, but it hasn’t resolved the issue, and I’m wondering if it’s just a shitty vape.

Can anyone suggest an alternative? Ideally with the following features:

  • simple to use & maintain
  • easy to buy pods/coils
  • compact/discreet

Thanks in advance ☺️

Stopping the spread of tobacconists and vape stores

Below is an article from Inner West News March 2024-

-Inner West Council has resolved to stop the spread of tobacconist and vape stores in the Inner West. Mayor Darcy Byrne (LAB) raised a Mayoral Minute at the February council meeting proposing new regulations to cap store numbers. Council is asking the State Government for new powers to require all tobacconist and vape stores to submit a development application and a social impact assessment.-

I’ve only ever bought one disposable to try, but these days I find myself siding with the black market smoke shops, rather than with the government. There will probably be no vape shops at all left soon, and the proposed requirement of a social impact assessment that specifically targets the smoke shops might drive them out too. How can a smoke shop produce a social impact statement when it legally sells cigarettes? Will Woolies and petrol stations have to do one too?

And why does this, deliberate targeting of specific shops, remind me of my Year 10 history lessons?

Hey Vapers, are flavours outside tobacco mint and menthol already banned or is this part of the Bill that’s before parliament?

Also is local manufacture banned yet or is that proposed in the new law also?

Prescription help

Hey fellow Vapers,

Just hunting a bit of info on this terrible prescription model our loony government has implemented!!!

Are we able to get multiple scripts from different vendors so we can order different brands as I am currently on 28.5mg Relx tobacco and it tastes like garbage, I need to test out different brands and pods to see what works?

I currently have a script with Quitmed but would like to try another 'online pharmacy', options on different vendors would also be much appreciated.

Cheers!

Could this help?

Vaping Reforms Bill 2024

I don't know if it can help but I feel like I have to try so I decided to make a submission to Therapeutic Goods and Other Legislation Amendment (Vaping Reforms) Bill 2024 [Provisions]

This was my submission; My name is 'insert name' from New South Wales and I am writing in regards to my objection to current and planned regulations on nicotine vaping products in Australia.

I have been vaping nicotine flavoured juices over seven years now using a Nicotine based vaping device.

Prior to this I smoked for over twenty years during which I tried every NRT available, over multiple attempts but sadly the addiction was too strong and I always failed in my attempts.

As a smoker I was constantly short of breath and wheezing to the point of needing ventolin. I suffered chest pain, smokers cough, headaches and nausea. My family and I were always worried about my health.

My mother had also battled her cigarette addiction for most of her life. She started vaping eleven years ago and was amazed by how much better she felt. I was convinced this product could work for me too. So I finally plucked up the courage to try and quit again, although in my mind I doubted I would ever be able to give them up for good.

Since choosing vaping as an alternative to smoking my health has completely turned around and my confidence has grown immensely as I was finally able to quit!

There can be no doubt now that vaping is less harmful than smoking. Before quitting I already knew cigarettes were killing me so I started to look deeper into the science based studies.

Adult vaper's, like myself, do not do it blindly.

We knew smoking was destroying our lives and our families, yet we could not quit even with the aid of other nicotine replacement therapies. We found vaping to be the effective tool we had been searching for.

We are the proof that vaping works. Most of us life long smokers who's physical and mental health has dramatically improved.

This is not new technology. Vaping studies have been performed over the last 20 years.

Cancer Research UK has a joint positioning statement with many health organisations, outlining a shared agreement that e-cigarettes are significantly less harmful than smoking, as well as a positioning statement with the Royal College of General Practitioners.

In every other western country, vapes are available as consumer products.

In New Zealand and the United Kingdom, their governments encourage smokers to switch to vaping because they recognise the benefits and immense success in helping smokers quit cigarettes.

It has helped so many people including myself to finally achieve our goal to quit smoking.

It is deeply upsetting, conserning and anxiety enducing that our educated choice to vape is being taken from us.

The governments 2021 reforms created this wave of dodgy black market of suppliers who target and sell disposables to underage kids.

They were forewarned this would happen by ATHRA and Vaping Australia among other vaping advocates.

Blanket bans and prohibition will not work nor will forcing Australia’s 1.3 million vapers to pay outrageous GP fees for inferior products. The prescription only model has already produced an explosion of the dangerous black market creating evermore easy access to adolescents.

Asking an already struggling community to pay doctor fees and excessive prescription costs to try and protect their life against tobacco addiction is wrong.

Expecting our GP's who are already under immense pressure to take on the task of writing up these prescriptions is ridiculous and has proven untenable.

Reputable Australian Vape stores do not sell to minors. It goes against everything they stand for and quite frankly this ban will mean an end to everything they have worked so hard to create.

The complex requirements for buying vapes has already created a black market where products are unregulated and continually available to minors.

The only solution is to address and cease these ridiculous reforms and allow adults to purchase regulated nicotine vaping products in retail settings, similarly to how it was before the 2021 reforms.

Tldr; I made a submission to Therapeutic Goods and Other Legislation Amendment (Vaping Reforms) Bill 2024.

I had to create an account to do so. Politics is not my thing so I had to read up on how to do it and what to include.

Being of limited education I will likely be laughed at if it even reaches their sight but I feel so helpless, I had to try.

I hope some of you will take the time to do the same. Follow the link and submit your story.

Received late parcel - finally

Hello friends. My parcel that disappeared, then held at customs and finally cleared customs is here! It didn't look like it was opened at all.

BUT. I've also received a letter from TGA advising me that they have held my parcel (listing the items in the parcel I've just received) and asking for written documentation (like a prescription which was already included in the parcel anyway) that it is a legal import. According to the letter, I have to respond by 3 April. But I've just received the letter. Sooooooo.....
