Virgin media tv360 recording problems

The mother got a tv360 yoke and it won't record the Irish channels or BBC. It only records virgin channels and channel 4.

She had a big virgin box with a hard disk and it worked grand.

Is there something to setup for this to work, or is it a call to tech support - God help me.

Could I approach my neighbor regarding tearing down the side entrance wall?

My neighbor and I (we are both end of terrace) have the houses at an angle, thus both our entrances are narrow and they widen as we go towards our gardens (like a V-shape). It's annoying sometimes as I even struggle with a bicycle when I bring it though the side entrance gate. I use that entrance a lot coming and going out of the house as I cycle only so the front door is not my main entrance. My neighbor does not seem to use theirs except for the bins and occasional kids bike.

I wish I could tear the wall between us, move our gates further in the back and have a proper side entrance that can fit more than a bin. The problem is that my neighbor does not seem to use theirs so there is no incentive to do it on their side.

We are friendly but we don't talk more than the occasional hi. How could I approach him, is this a reasonable ask? I don't want to come as a nuisance, just moved in and I'm asking him to demolish stuff for my convenience, would there be any advantages for him as well such as increased house price?

Recommended dentists for porcelain veneers in Ireland or UK

I definitely do not mean crowns or “turkey teeth”.

Looking to get 8 on top & 8 on the bottom. The thin porcelain veneers that required no/minimal prep of the tooth. So far I’ve seen 3Dental and seapoint clinic look decent. A couple places in London too but about 50% more expensive.

Also, not composite bonding. Currently have it and do not like it.

Anyone fancy seeing the Boss in Croker? Springsteen Tickets for sale

Absolutely gutted I have to go on a mandatory course starting the Sunday, hoping to get tickets for Cork or Kilkenny. Would be very grateful if anyone considering going could take the Dublin ones off my hands! Or even a swap.

Weird question but do public hospitals close at midnight? Is it possible to stay overnight in their waiting areas?

To elaborate, I have a scheduled consultant appointment at Mater on Wednesday and the next day at St James, both in Dublin but I live in Carlow. I work in Dublin once a week. I just don't want to go back and forth in 2 consecutive days (I have no car).

My plan is to go to Dublin office for work in the morning then attend my appointment at Mater in the afternoon ----> Stay overnight at Mater Hospital in one of their waiting areas ----- > leave the next morning for work ----> Attend my next appointment at St. James afternoon ----> then go home.

Will I be kicked out of Mater? I suppose I would look suspicious. lol

If not, do you know any safe and free 24 hour establishment in Dublin?

Feeling trapped

Recently got word that our landlord is selling up. Second time it's happened in as many years and not the first time overall. Have never really had a very long-term renting arrangement ever in my life. Am getting really, really tired of the renting grind. Actually cried twice yesterday just thinking about having to go back on the house search, the endless Daft emails, the rushing after work to make viewings or taking long lunches, mostly to look at overpriced shit holes, if we even get a response about viewings.

I just want to have some security and it's so hard knowing that even if we find somewhere nice and affordable, the rug could be taken out from under us again. I live and work in Dublin, really enjoy my job, earn ok money. Partner is in a pretty good job that pays well and he enjoys it too. We'd love a house of our own some day, but it's so hard to even save with rents rising each time we have to go back on the house hunt - prices of places we've seen recently are gone up again in the year since we last looked and would make it nearly impossible to save much if anything. I have considered moving down the country but it would mean changing jobs (possibly entire careers) as there is no possibility for WFH in what I do, and completely altering other aspects of our work and lifestyles just to deal with the housing situation. Emigration isn't really an option for me as I want to stay relatively close to my elderly parents (in any case, Ireland is my home and I don't like feeling like I should have to leave just to have a nice quality of life and a secure roof over my head.)

Idk what the point of this post is (and I know its just another housing crisis rant) except that I just want to vent. Just feels unfair because we work hard and enjoy the city and contribute to it, but are feeling increasingly alienated and pushed out, and the whole thing is taking a toll on both of us and our relationship because we are just stressed about it all the time. Like we want to live here and it just feels shit to know that you could be doing everything "right" and still be essentially forced out.

Difficult work situation

Hi there, I started a new job a few weeks ago. Minimum wage and overqualified for but wanted a job just to get out of the house and get some sort of an income as I was feeling quite lost in life. Was getting on grand there, wasnt too stressful of a workplace and colleagues including manager all seemed decent.

Last weekend I was working with my manager. Its a deli role so she was doing the cooking and me acting as a runner and serving customers. Anyways she got quite annoyed at me for forgetting to take some type of food out of the oven that she had put in and it was burnt. I told her I didnt even know it was in there in the first place ( I was busy with customers and plus she hadnt mentioned to me there was food in there and could I keep an eye on it). I suggested maybe the timer function be used on the oven in future. She took this really badly, and hissed something back at me about how we shouldnt use a timer. I told her again assertively that I forgot. She didnt speak to me for the rest of the day at work. And I wasnt going to make conversation as I could tell she was annoyed. She spoke to me about it later that day and accused me of snapping at her which isnt true at all. I told her I actually thought she had snapped at me and use a very threatening tone towards me. She got up, walked out, I followed her asking what was wrong that I needed to be sorted out. But she completely shut down and wouldnt engage. Main shop manager spoke with me about it yesterday, he said she was very upset and in tears about it. I apologised to the girl for if what I said offended her but she seemed like she didnt even want to acknowledge it. Manager offered for me to go home yesterday but I declined. So again she spent all yesterdays shift with a scowl and still holding a grudge. Yesterday evening the main manager told me to take today off. I'm a bit annoyed as to how this has gotten to this stage. Im no fan of working with other women for exactly this reason, I have no idea why this girl took my suggestion as a personal insult and created a drama out of it. My manager alluded to me in a meeting yesterday about how he may have to let me go over this (he didnt say exactly those words but I was getting thats what he meant). I've woken up this morning feeling quite annoyed over it and I'm down a day's wages for it too. Wondering should I ring the main shop manager today and explain again why I shouldnt feel persecuted for this?

Who would this be in the county/town you are from?

Who would this person be in your respective county/town?

I’m by far not the first to post this on different subreddits but haven’t seen it on here, not trying to take credit if it has already been posted.

Can’t think of who it would be in the county I’m from but I know in Drogheda I’m guessing it would be Elvis/Paddy McCabe. Who would it be in your town/county?

My boyfriend wants me to “cuck” him

I’m F24 and he’s M25 and we’re been together 2 years now. We have great sex and a great relationship. We are very open with each other.

He has brought it up recently to me. He says that he wants to share me and watch me sleep with other guys. Honestly I have no issue with it because it’s a win-win for me.

He says we can maybe try a few threesomes first and then he will gradually get less and less involved.

Do any of you guys have experience with this? Any advice would be welcome !!

Giving away things online

Giving away a kids 2 in 1 buggy/pram Got multiple messages about just taking the pram so I’m stuck with the other part which ends up useless on its own, but the most annoying is, can you deliver? Now if it was in my town no bother but 20-30 minutes away, where there is a direct bus route. No reply when I say no. Can you not be arsed getting on a bus to save a few hundred quid? You can literally push the thing home. Rant over

Who are the best architect employers in Ireland?

I know one prestigious practice in Ireland is the Grafton Architects being a Pritzker winner, but in terms of employment, who are regarded as the best in Ireland?

Justifying a petrol car when I get paid mileage money

Well folks.

I’m enjoying my job but the only draw back is as part of my job I do site visits. Which can be 1 day a week and at the minute that means driving 380km round trip.

There could come a point where I’m doing that more than once a week for different sites. That being said I get paid mileage, at the current rate it’s €6k a year tax free. I also live within in walking distance of the office and I head out to the home house quite often (60km).

I want to get something petrol. In my own head I’ve sort of decided a mk7 Golf R or similar year Audi S3 is what I want. I’d also consider a Golf GTI (7.5 ideally) but I just don’t know if I’d regret not getting the full fat Golf R.

I’m getting mileage money, but those things are expensive to run, and I’d rack up some more miles than you’d ideally like. I’d probably get low 30s mpg on a Golf R.

Is it justifiable or should I just bin that idea and look at a nice new(ish) 3 Series - engaging, RWD, newer less likely to go wrong and if it’s a 320d they’re economical too. Could be tempted by a x30d or x335d too - but then should I not just get the 2 litre petrol?

Car insurance question

Right lads

Have a car, insurance expires 7th April

New job and company car starts 14th April

What do I need to do to not lose my consecutive years no claims bonus? If I renew my insurance and only use it for a few days would I get the money I paid minus the few days back?

Many thanks for your help

Edit: Cheers everyone, didn't know NCB was valid for two years so will probably keep the company car for a year then insure something for the weekends if I go down that road

Can I send wine and beer by post domestically within Ireland?

Hi guys, I was wondering if I can send a bottle of wine and beer that I bought from Asia (that I have with me in Ireland) to a family member in Ireland. I also bought other goods like sovenirs and edible foods like candy and chocolates. I'm planning to put everything all in the one box. I'm wondering if my parcel will get seized due to alcohol that I have? Is there a way I can send alcohol domestically?

Did most of us get a wallop of the wooden spoon as a child?

I was having a debate with my husband this evening. Interested to know how common was the wooden spoon as punishment in Ireland when you were growing up. Did you get walloped? I did, but I was a terror, I deserved most of them!

Supplementation of vitamin d3, k2 and magnesium in Ireland. Guidance.

Hey guys. Looking to start taking some supplements of those written above. Understand that people are pretty much deficient in all of these, even over summer months.

Wondering who here takes these (and what else?). Where do you buy them? How much? What’s the best type?

What dosage do you take? I was thinking 5000IU of D3 but unsure of the others.

Every day? Any particular time of day? Anything I should know in regards to potential negative effects? Any info from your experience would be appreciated.

New revolut phone call scam

Got a call from an 087 number not sure if I’m allowed post it here or not but answered and there was an automated voice saying an Amazon purchase of 79.99 was made with my revolut card to press 1 if I did not make it or hang up if I did. I had got a revolut notification a few minutes before that I did not check so I was thinking balls maybe this is legit and pressed 1, I was forwarded to a Indian guy, (I noticed the revolut notification was unrelated) so I asked how come I didn’t receive a notification on my app notifying me of this like I normally would if something like this happens and he said because they blocked it before hand and I hung up. Definitely think this was a scam but can see how people could easily fall for this, be safe 🤞
