This subreddit is aimed at historians and history-interested individuals who seek to share and explore knowledge specifically related to topics in African History, from ancient warfare, slavery and trans-continental trade through to de-colonisation, democratisation and modern conflict.
Welcome to the African History community on Reddit. This community is designed around the sharing and discussion of information concerning the history of African peoples.
All links and posts must pertain to the history of African peoples, cultures, or civilizations.
Posters will keep to a certain level of decorum. Engage with the links and posted material. Ad hominem attacks will not be tolerated. Oppressive and harassing language and posts (including, but not limited to: sex, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, class, and disability) will not be tolerated.
Troll posts and bad faith arguments will be removed and the posters will be banned.
Although scholarly rigor is not a requirement to engage in this community, understand that African history is a robust discipline with a great many available resources. Submissions that are egregiously counterfactual and/or based upon shoddy scholarship will be removed.
