The almost "only" way of accessing information regarding the development of Eritrea is through the universal periodic review.

Every year, we would usually have the same new years halewlew that talks about the "regional" issues around Eritrea and the "domestic" issues on Eritrea. Since independence day is rapidly approaching, could this possibly something big where the president discusses a sucessor, or reforms, or letting political prisoners free? Feels like something is being withheld right now imo, dunno if yall feel the same. Could be my optimistic side
When the Ethiopian πͺπΉTPLF army under Meles Zenawi invaded and occupied the city of Senafe, Akele Guzay, Eritrea πͺπ·, they destroyed the Belew Kelew Hawulti Geez Monument in Eritrea, the oldest Geez script in the world.

The Claims Commission of the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague ruled on 28 April 2004 in favor of Eritrea's claim that Ethiopian soldiers or other persons encamped following cessation of hostilities on the land surrounding the excavated ruins of the Aksumite period city site of Matara (also known locally as Belew Kelew) blew up the hawulti, or stele, the most famous artifact from the Matara archaeological site, which contains probably the oldest extant inscription in the Ethiopic language and script, sometime during the night of 30-31 May 2000. The complete text of the ruling can be obtained in PDF format at the PCA website's listing of Recent and Pending Cases. Why are guys protesting ? I respect Eritreans for having that much pride for your country wanting to see a change. Somali need to do the same. I live in Canada.

I posted about the proposal to avoid talking about TPLF for just one month in this sub. Which was less than 48 hours ago, there has been 6 Posts about TPLF! Including one video of that woman from Mekele. Are we ok?
And to our Resident Spammer u/Advanced-Preferrence6 AKA u/Comfortable-Ebb8111 and the new account u/inexcusably_genius I presume, you need therapy or Mai Chelot.
I know i ask too many questions, but ive heard this on some shows so many times and on this reddit too, so with all due respect can you guus tell me hat it means?
So Iβve been wondering for the longest time how the EDF compares to other (neighbouring) defence forces. Iβve seen articles where it was stated that the EDF is a capable and large army. But Iβve seen a lot of comments on this subreddit telling me the EDF is very incompetent.
Somalia has sent its soldiers to Eritrea for training, Abiy Ahmed requested the support of Eritrea in his struggle against the TPLF and Sudan has actively been seeking the support of Eritrea.
What are your thoughts about the strength of the EDF? Is it a force to be reckoned with or is it outclassed by its neighbours?
βChildren of a postβwar generation that have held high hopes in the possibility that their lives would be distinctly different from that of their parents, whose lives have been marred by the terror of war with the DERG regime and a cross border conflict with Eritrea in the late 1990s instigated by the TPLF.β
I know this has nothing to do with Eritrea so I will delete it shortly! However, if anyone is willing to translate the general ideas in this video it would be appreciated. The only thing I understood is that people in her community were disappointed w/something she said in an interview. I watched the interview but didnβt find anything strange about it.

According to several sources Eritreans civilians have been killed by the Ethiopian bombing of Asmara

Susan Rice former US Secretary of State of African affairs: As the ground fighting escalated, in June of 1998, Ethiopia launched airstrikes against Asmara airport. Eritrea made retaliatory strikes against the Ethiopian towns of Mekele and Adigrat, south of Zela Ambessa, hitting a school. Both sides then agreed to a U.S.-brokered airstrike moratorium, and fighting decreased to occasional exchanges of artillery and small-arms fire over a 9-month period. https://1997-2001.state.gov/policy_remarks/1999/990525_rice_eewar.html

I have a blurry memory of seeing Russian writing inside the plane, im not sure though, what do you guys know about it?
I dont understand how us leaving from the Birr to the Nakfa hurt Ethiopia
Ive heard people say this but i dont know if its true, if you guys know can you please inform me
How can private construction companies boost the economy in Eritrea? Outside the capital and in the lowlands of Eritrea, there are plenty of uninhabited land where to build buildings. Promoting private construction companies can help overcome the housing crisis, and many developers and engineers can get jobs, and building new houses can help increase national GDP in Eritrea.
