Hello everyone!
I’m interested in applying for a scholarship at Carnegie Mellon University Africa (CMU Rwanda) to study Machine Learning, but I’m a bit lost on where to start and what steps to take.
For context, I’ve recently been accepted into a course at the University of Rwanda, supported by AFRETEC, that could potentially help me secure a scholarship for CMU Rwanda. However, I want to ensure I fully understand the application process and meet all the necessary requirements for a successful application.
If anyone here has experience with the CMU Africa scholarship process, I’d be really grateful for your advice on:
1. Application Steps: What are the main steps for applying for a scholarship in ML at CMU Rwanda? Are there specific documents or prerequisites I should focus on?
2. Requirements: Are there particular academic or professional achievements that would increase my chances? Any recommendations for showcasing my ML background?
3. Tips for Success: What advice would you give someone trying to stand out in the application process?
4. Financial Aid Details: If anyone has insight into what the scholarship typically covers and if there’s other financial support available (e.g., for living expenses), that would be super helpful.
Thank you so much in advance! I’d appreciate any and all insights or resources you could share.
We’ll be in Rwanda for a few days and want to do a Safari. But since it’s the rainy season, we’re wondering if it’s a good idea and whether we will be able to spot wild life in the gloomy weather? Sorry for the dumb question- it’s our first time doing a safari and we’ve never been to Africa outside of Summer
Hello everyone, My wife and I are looking for a live-in nanny to help us with our 5-month old. Must be clean and friendly and speak English well and have references. Please do not reach out if you are a broker or agency. We are looking for direct references or contacts only. The job pays well. Bonus If also able to help with cooking.
Hello all! I’m an alumnus of ULK in Rwanda, and I’m trying to convert my GPA to an international standard (like the 4.0 scale) for job applications and further studies abroad.
Are there any reliable, free tools out there that can accurately handle the Rwandan grading system or ULK’s GPA scale? I’d appreciate any recommendations, or if anyone has experience with the conversion process, tips would be great!
Thanks in advance!
I am looking at buying a house in the next six months and most of my saving is in USD. Could I get some insight into how house prices are changing Vs the exchange rate?
Basically are house prices increasing equal to the exchange rate?
I am a fresh medical graduate from west Africa. I have been considering doing my internship in rwanda. I wanted confirmation if foreign interns are paid in Rwanda
Hello guys, I'm new in Kigali and I have an interest in bike racing (moto cross, dirtbikes). I'm currently looking for places or riding clubs around the area. Would really appreciate a lead.
I hate to post this here, cluttering the feed with hysteria. But Marburg seems to be contained well and daily life seems to be normal in the Rwandan media. I have a trip in March with a friend and I assume things will be fine by then. Is anyone able to confirm that things for tourists are normal? I'm a much more adventurous traveler than her, and I wouldn't want to put her at risk for something.
The US has a level 3 warning whole Canada has a level 2 warning. I know Canada is the better standard for international travel, but again just trying to confirm that things are open in the country. It seems amazing and I'm really excited to see it.
Looking for snus? Dm
Hello everyone, I am doing an assignment on the movie Hotel Rwanda and was doing some research on the actual Paul Rusesabagina. I looked at some news reports and apparently he has been jailed and sentenced for 25 years? I don't know a whole lot about Rwandan politics and Paul Kagame (I am not Rwandan) but I'd like to think I am quite informed on the 1994 genocide. After watching the Hotel Rwanda movie, I would have thought he would be regarded as a national hero in Rwanda for his efforts in saving over 1200 people. But apparently this is not the case? What do Rwandan people think about Paul Rusesabagina and why was he jailed? And do you agree that he should have been imprisoned?
If you've been following what has been going on RwoT lately, what's your opinion on the feminists in Rwanda?🤔
Hi everyone,
question regarding electricity / sockets in Kigali: I noticed that in some households (not all) where I charge my electronic gear (laptop, phone, etc.) seem to have grounding issues. When touching the charging cable I get a very light buzz / shock. Also, the battery life span seems to decrease faster, and some devices overheat.
Although the power supply is 230V, there seem to be some voltage fluctuations and grounding issues.
Q: Has anyone experienced something similar, and is using some sort of adapters to protect electronic gear? Preferably something I can buy in Kigali ?
Murakoze !
Hello everyone, I am a Kenyan looking to travel to Kigali for a two nights. Kigali looks very lovely. I just need recommendations for guest houses or Airbnbs. Budget under 35usd per night
Hi everyone! I recently moved to Rwanda and have a job offer here as a Financial Analyst with a renewable energy project developer. Unfortunately, my work permit application was rejected. The reason given is that I need a CPA license, even though my role has nothing to do with accounting – it’s focused on project finance, investor relations, and investment research, not accounting.
My company is fully supporting me and also agrees that a CPA requirement doesn’t align with the actual responsibilities of my role. Has anyone else had a similar experience or encountered issues with specific requirements for work permits? Is there a way to appeal or clarify the role’s scope to authorities to avoid this CPA requirement?
Any advice on navigating this situation or alternative pathways for a work permit would be super helpful. Thanks in advance for your help!
hi guys, i need to get a tourist visa, can someone give me some safe websites to get it? most of them are scams :/
Hi,
A few months ago, I started a community of Kinyarwanda speakers with weekly Kinyarwanda classes. And recently we added daily phrases to help you learn everyday new sentences.
This is one of them, and we invite you to the community at https://kiny.study
Being a part of the community, allows you to provide ideas, feedback and ask questions on Kinyarwanda language.
You are welcome!
So I’m in kigali Rwanda thinking of starting a business in Kigali but with a budget of 4000-5000 usd but everything seems out of budget or over saturated any ideas?
