Hey guys, any recommendations on good resorts in Dar that is kinda private or at least not too packed with people like sunrise š„²
This is more or so venting to than an actual question, maybe one could offer some insight. Iām a Tanzanian that has spent the last 4 years studying abroad and only recently came back in the summer . Iāve noticed that over here cheating is SO normalized , like the men are NOT faithful at all šš. Is it just that Tanzania is a secret polyamorous society or something? Or maybe Iāve just had bad luck?? I honestly do not know. How does one navigate the tz dating scene š
Hey everyone, Just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of you who took the time to give me gym advice a couple of weeks ago. Your tips on compound lifts, proper form, and staying consistent really helped me get started on my fitness journey. I'm feeling stronger and more confident every day, and I'm so grateful for the support and encouragement from this amazing community. I know I still have a long way to go, but I'm excited to keep pushing myself. If you're just starting out, my advice is to trust the process, don't be afraid to ask for help, and be patient with yourself. You've got this!
This is a photo of me post gym today
The toilets in the malls in Dar really sucks at hygiene. They smell like pee all the time and very very dirty. I mean people's civil use of these toilets is one thing and hygiene in general is another. Can something be done? Don't the administration of these malls see how crusty rusty and dirty these toilets are?? It's really annoying and disgustingš.......

For those who attended the Castle Lite event, what were the highlights for you? Any memorable performances, vibes, or unexpected surprises? Also, were there any turn-offs, like delays, organization issues, or anything else?
And for Sean Paul fans, how was his performance? Did he bring the energyš„or was it just āmehāš?
I know this is a long shotā¦
Am coming from Castle Liteās sponsored show disappointed that my favorite Tanzanian artist isnāt on stage yet and itās already 3am.
I have work to do on Sundayā¦canāt stay there till morning so I decide to leave.
On my way out I meet this lovely young lady sitting down on the grass all by herself. I then I asked herā¦ādo you need company ?ā She says āNo, am actually waiting for my Bajajā
We then chatted for the next few secondsā¦I learned sheās both Tanzanian and Canadianā¦And that she lives in Mikocheni. I continue to learn a few things about herā¦before her friends arrive and I am forced to leave.
She was so lovely I wanna continue the chat. So Maria from Mikocheni if you see this please say hello
So I saw someone ask this question and it got me thinking about how people donāt realise how much swahili played a role in stabilising a nation of 100+ tribes.
Yes, majority of us canāt speak English, but if you look at Tz you will realise why it was best not to. Swahili merged us into a nation that isnāt tribalistic as it doesnāt belong to a ātribeā. Even the ethnic group āwaswahiliā canāt come up to claim it. itās such a loose term that literally anyone born in the cost can be considered mswahili, Iāve even seen Congolese people who say they are swahili.
Finally, I would also like to bring up the fact that Swahili was learnt by the older generation during early independence days. Itās not like the whole nation knew how to speak Swahili but look at us now, majority if not all speak it. If the time and need comes for us to learn another language, Iām sure we will adapt to it as needed. But for now, Kiswahili kiendelee kutukuzwa.
Ps. Did anyone else realise that Swahili words must end in a vowel ? I donāt know why it took me 23 years to catch that š
Property inclusive of but not limited to land, apartments, other types of buildings, farms... What should a foreigner look out for, and what laws should one be aware of? If there's a (preferably government) website or page I can look at it would be great. All tips welcome.
I live in Dodoma, I have a job which is so energy-consuming. However, I love to learn languages. But this city doesnāt have any French or German schools. I wanted to improve my english and do the IELTS but the British council hasnāt opened a branch here. I know you have to take exams in dar, the problem is my job, I must be present everyday except for Sunday. I also wanted to go back to school but my past universities, Udsm/Mzumbe both do not maintain branches here. My job is very low paying but I really need it. But again itās like stopping me from doing things I like. Why is dodoma growing so slowly.
Hi all. I have a bachelors degree which I took something like 5 yrs past. Now am looking for scholarships esp outside the country. I applied the ones announced by ministry of education which were for Japan, but I wasnāt lucky. Is there anyone with any advise. Iād like to study in europe.
I have been using Telegram for the past decade or so, and to this day I wonder why it hasnt been a standard of communication among my peers like WhatsApp has. Recently I noticed that Telegram having connection issues, especially when I am in Tanzania. Now that I have been in the country for some time, it hasnt been working for over a month now. No one I ask seems to know what's happening with the app but I suspect there's a ban so I need someone to confirm if my suspicions are correct.
i noticed that sometimes when i tip the person may try to hide that they were tipped not in a negative way but almost like...it would be taken if it were noticed. for example, the waiter would walk me all the way to the car and get the tip, when prior i would place it in the bill holder...are tips shared in tanzania? dar and arusha specifically, do they go to the owner or establishment
as the title states , looking for high quality tailor/seamstress, must be able to do things like double inner line, add embellishments and work on a deadline, may also need to shop for additional items (linings mainly) womens creations
Saw this post in r/gradamissions. Canāt really think of a reason why Tanzania would be one of the countries to be targeted by the new U.S. administration.
I have a business making and selling copper jewelry with earth gemstones designed within some of the pieces at the moment the only minerals that I have my hands on is clear quartz because a friend of mine has a uncle who owns a mining company. I want a wider variety of earth minerals so that I can be able to make a wider variety of products, does anyone know where I could find a place that sells those sort of things in the region of Dar Es Salaam?
Hi all; my second post regarding this.
I want to ask you locals on costs of things to budget for donations.
How much does the following cost roughly
10kg of rice. (Or the standard size of big bags)
20kg flour. (Or the standard size of big bags)
10 litres of cooking oil
5kg sugar
Basic mattresses - any sizes.
Also, if it helps for context. In Dar, lushoto & Arusha.
P.Sā¦ if anyone owns a shop or has friends who owns a shop who sell these things. Please ask if they can help me with good cheap prices on these things. As the cheaper the cost, the more I can buy and help kids with.
A lot of outages reported in other countries and not working for me and others here it seems.
i need to ask about time schedule it consider your time or office time
I know this may be a long shot, but you miss 100% of the shots you donāt take.
I have visited the beautiful country of Tanzania before, several times actually. Honestly, Iāve fallen in love with it. On my visits I did manage to create contact with a few Tanzanians some who I still am in contact with today.
My askā¦. is there anyone on this sub who knows where and how I can get in touch with a reputable realtor ?
I am interested in investing into property (most likely waterfront) and would love to gather as much information as possible as I prepare for such an adventure.
Thanks in advance !
Hi I am from Kenya, and my friends are planning a 3 day staycation around Arusha or somewhere close to Serengeti, or otherwise easily accessible to Serengeti. Kindly dm me with charges and possibly photos, you can be the contact for the three days
Iām currently searching for a house/Apartment around Kinondoni, Mikocheni, or Kijitonyama with a budget of 400k - 450k TZS. Iād appreciate it if you could share contact details of any dalali wa nyumba youāve worked with before who helped you find a good place around any of those areas.
Last time I came on this page,I asked for various ways to make 100$ in three days where by there were good advice ,some people who felt like replying and one who gave me 10$ (š),I decided to follow one advice and started selling couple of unnecessary items I didnāt necessarily need and made extra 50k almost (24$) apart from that no one really needed anything elseā¦and I realized itās not easy making cash,I donāt think most of yāall would want anything here but just incase,I have novels( my novels that Iāve read and had them for a long time obviously)that Iām selling for 3$ and press on nails for 4$,for the ladies I can do simple make up for 5$ and I can bake a cake by following instructions for 12$,I can also write scripts and novels and songs too plus I can design but not sew your clothes Thank you
I wanted to share something exciting with you today. Thereās an exhibition happening in Berlin from November 29th to December 1st, and itās all about co-existence. It brings together so many talented artists, curators, and organizers from different backgroundsāincluding myself!
Iāll be exhibiting some pieces under the theme Traces of Urban Segregation, alongside other amazing works. Iāll list the Instagram handles of the organizers and artists in the comments so you can check them out.
If youāre in Berlin, it would mean a lot if you could attend. Itās a great chance to support art and creativityāand to see how far we as Tanzanians have come in the art world!
If youāve got time, donāt miss it!
Hi šš¾ Iām a street and documentary photographer based in Tanzania.
