Well we knew this was going to happen. How far will it go?
My friend who knows no one and is often about 2 weeks behind on mlb news just texted me this. I’m guessing the deal is as good as done.
I know a lot of teams are offering a lot of money so it comes down to where he will feel he belongs and appreciated. So he think as a kicker I will offer a meal at five guys and my Yankee fan Ted Williams and Joe DiMaggio autographed. I know it’s expensive but he might be worth it. They give you a lot of fries. What is everyone else willing to offer.
I was invited to the Holiday Drive-Thru Express this Saturday. What is it? Was this something done last year?
I hate to post this but unfortunately I got taken by a scam on this subreddit. A few weeks ago /u/candidflamingo7270 offered a Green Day Mr Met bobblehead for sale. In dms he went on about how he needs money to buy his children Christmas presents. I paid $40 over Cash app but never received anything. Yesterday I sent him a message and he confirmed that he in fact did scam me. So be on the lookout for people like that here.

Matt Reynolds turns 34 today. He was a member of the 2016 and 2017 Mets and briefly returned to the 2022 Mets for one game. He hit .246/.320/.332 in 272 plate appearances for the 2022 Cincinnati Reds.
The late Darryl Hamilton was born on this date in 1964. An outfielder who played 13 seasons in MLB, the Rockies traded him to the Mets at the 1999 trade deadline. He hit .353/.353/.412 for the Mets in the 1999 NLCS against the Braves and also was a member of the 2000 playoff team. He retired as a player at the end of the 2001 season and went into broadcasting. He died in 2015 after a tragic murder-suicide by his former ex-girlfriend.
Wayne Garrett turns 77 today. An infielder and member of the 1969 and 1973 teams, Ronald Wayne Garrett played for the Mets from 1969 to 1976. The Mets picked him up from the Atlanta Braves in the 1968 rule 5 draft. Garrett would make his MLB debut at age 21 and in the 1969 NLCS, he hit a [two run homer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPx7RbTSI2M) against the Braves in game three of the 1969 NLCS and hit .385/.467/.769 in the series. Wayne Garrett had a career year in 1973, with a career high in homers. He hit a lead-off homer in game three of the 1973 World Series against the Oakland A's. Garrett was traded to Montreal and in 1978, and later he was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals. He played two seasons for the Chunichi Dragons in Nippon Professional Baseball before retiring.

I find it interesting that five Scott Boras starting pitchers have now signed:
Blake Snell, Dodgers: 5 years, $182 million. Yusei Kikuchi, Angels: 3 years, $63 million. Frankie Montas, Mets: 2 years, $34 million. Matthew Boyd, Cubs: 2 years, $29 million. Nick Martinez, Reds: 1 year, $21.05 million
This, of course, after his shit show of an off season last year. Let's not forget, both Pete and Chief are his clients, too. While my initial reaction to the Montas signing was, "Wtf?", the hope is that Stearns and co. will work with and unlock him to get the maximum.
I think Boras might be trying to save face after last off season. Therefore, is it possible that he pawned Montas off on the Mets as a way to give them a perceived edge in negotiations with Soto, Alonso and Manaea? Cohen and Stearns aren't stupid, and you'd hope that Boras wouldn't be stupid enough to FAFO with Cohen and his checkbook. So, how much leverage does Boras have here?
If it's true that part of negotiations involves letting Soto in on teams' overall competitive structure and being in Cohen's circle of trust for the length of his deal, does the fact that Montas is a fellow Dominican move the needle that much? I'm not sure.
I do like the fact that the Mets as a team aren't leaking anything; I have to admit being annoyed by all the outside noise, though. I just want a conclusion already, so the team can get on with business.
This is just a rant, Die hard fan, was excited about the day, signed up and checked my emails everyday, never got an email. Find out today the tickets were on sale for over a month, but they never popped up on the ticket app, only thing showing up is 1 $1000 VIP ticket.
For those of you who didn’t know, for $40 you got to meet the players, get autographs, all the cool stuff.
Called citified just to find out they’ve been sold out for a while.
Feel like a teenager missing his favorite bands concert. Just wanted to whine about it.
Girlfriend would’ve probably left me the second she saw Winker anyway.
Saw a couple of posts earlier about Wright’s number being retired in July. Thoughts on its validity/when we might hear about it?
Gary Sanchez, a member of the 2023 Mets, turns 32 today!
On this date in 1991, the Mets signed free agent Bobby Bonilla to a five year, $29 million deal. A Yankee fan from the Bronx, Bonilla picked the Mets over the Phillies and Angels in free agency. Then we never heard about the man ever again.

When I meet fans of most other teams, their rivalries and histories don’t really intertwine with the Braves, but it’s very different with the Mets.
One of the coolest moments I’ve had meeting another fan was when I met two Mets fans and we discussed the 99 NLCS, how crazy and excruciating game 5 and game 6 were.
I’ll never forget the Piazza and Jordan homers as well.
It was very interesting to hear what it was like from the other side!
I’ll never forget 2024 game 161 and how crazy that was! I hope I can meet another group of Mets fans randomly again and share more crazy memories.
I had been eyeing this specific City Connect hat for a while but couldn’t find it online or in store anyway. Happened to stumble upon this on the MLB Shop website last week and it was on fall for early Black Friday deals. It was the very last one available and I JUMPED on that to get it. It came yesterday and I’m in love with it; so slick and definitely one of my favorites. Just had to share.
On this date in 2021, the Mets signed free agent Max Scherzer!
On this date in 2023, the Mets signed free agent Luis Severino!
Javier Baez turns 32 today! He was a member of the 2021 Mets! He will be making $25 million next year with the Tigers.
George Foster turns 76 today, the 1977 NL MVP and long time Reds outfielder came to the Mets in a February 1982 trade with Greg Harris, Jim Kern and Alex Treviño. A five time All-Star, Foster hit 52 homers in 1977 to lead the league and drove in 149 runs. He was a member of the 1986 Mets team until he was released in August of that year, hitting .227/.289/.429. There was a benches clearing brawl in Cincinnati and Foster did not participate. He retired as a player after the 1986 season.

Sponsored I would go with "MetLife Field" (not to be confused with MetLife Stadium) and non-sponsored I would go with "Flushing's Meadow".
Was supposed to be a gift for someone else but they wanted tickets instead. Figured someone may like this for the holidays.
Curious to see what's out there. Not interested in any promo stuff. I already started my son off on a signed baseball collection, so could add to that.
Can meet in person on Long Island.
LGM!
He's 68 years old now and probably still playing somewhere
My husband has been a Mets fan since he was a kid and I wanted to get him a jersey for Christmas. I just want to get him a white replica with no name and I can’t find his size (small) anywhere. It seems the 2 Canadian MLB sites are linked and have the same inventory.
Any suggestions?
TIA!
Happy birthday to DJ Stewart who turns 31 today!
Craig Swan turns 74 today. He pitched for the Mets from 1973 to 1984 with a 59-72 record in 1,235.2 innings pitched. In 1978, he led the National League with a 2.43 ERA. He was a good pitcher for many bad Mets teams in the late 1970s and early 1980s with flashes of success. In one of the finest starts in his career on June 17, 1976, Swan pitched 10.0 shutout innings against hall of famer Don Sutton and the Dodgers. Swan had eight strikeouts and gave up only three hits, leaving with a game score of 94; the Mets won 1-0.
