The full interview.
Housing - I liked his opposition to zoning but he didn't get to finish his explanation of the 2008 Housing Crisis. He said that government caused the crisis but didn't explain that the collapse of housing construction has led to today's housing shortages.
Education - Chase supports "getting the government out of the student loan business so market forces can lower the cost of higher education over time." How about privatizing public K-12 and colleges like discussed in past LP platforms?
Inflation - Chase seemed to be saying governments print money to finance debt. Inflation was caused by both printing money (to lower interest rates) and deficit spending, as well as lockdowns that broke supply chains.
Food - Eliminating corn subsidies is fine but that wouldn't be enough to even end the use of corn syrup, much less the many other unhealthy ingredients in our foods. He said the USDA regulators are bought, but should have said Libertarians support holding companies fully liable in the courts for damages caused by poisonous chemicals in the food supply.
Health care - He said there is too much government intervention in health care, but then offered a bunch of weak solutions, while ignoring past LP platforms and that Europe has much lower health care costs because they don't limit the supply of doctors and hospitals like the US.
Social Security - Chase would have people invest their retirement accounts in the stock market that is rigged by government monetary and fiscal policies and could crash at any time.
Energy – Chase avoided answering anything about energy even after one of his opponents falsely claimed drilling in the ANWR was the way to reduce the national debt. That’s actually good because Chase picks winners and losers by backing nuclear energy. Before the LP gutted its platform in 2004, it listed and opposed the many ways government favors nuclear energy.
I see his candidacy as another missed opportunity. The LP needs a more detailed platform that can explain what the candidates won't. A party can do much more than one candidate.
The Kennedy Victory Fund has added several new affiliated committees, bringing the total number of member organizations to twenty, according to updated information on the Fund's website. However, the Federal Election Commission still shows the Fund as having only twelve members as of Wednesday morning.
This is the the sequel to my previous poll on the 2020 election.
Candidate Qualifications: In order to count as a candidate, they needed to stay in the race until the party’s first primary. After state primaries, candidates begin dropping out to coalesce around their party's nominee.
Additional polls: In addition, I added a poll for the House of Representatives and one on the Top Issues.
Donald Trump: Trump was convicted of multiple crimes, and since he hasn’t finished serving his sentence, he is ineligible to be a candidate. His running mate, JD Vance, has taken his place.
Kamala Harris: Joe Biden dropped out of the race after his parties primaries ended, meaning he should still be a candidate. However, I decided on putting in Harris due to the very unusual circumstances.

The Kennedy Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee initially between the Libertarian National Committee and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s now-suspended presidential campaign, has disbursed approximately $2.5 million to its partner organizations since its formation, according to recent filings with the Federal Election Commission.
Anybody ever watch Better Call Saul? Well? Does he? Is this not a good thing? Bwahahahaha!
I have always been politically aware, but have never been active. But I think that needs to change. Hurricane Helene ravaged my town, trees/power lines/debris across the road, red lights knocked out, miles long lines at the few functional gas stations/businesses. The police sworn to "serve and protect" stayed hidden in bushes conducting speed traps the entire time. The roads made Mumbai look organized, not an officer in sight conducting traffic. This really pissed me off, along with everyone I talked to. I worked for the public works department in college, then joined the military so I have seen the vast inefficiency of government first hand and I want to spark a change. But the issue is I have no idea how to get started with it. How would I get the ball rolling in a political career? Like I'm not talking running for president or whatever, but like City council or mayor of a smaller adjacent town.

In short, you sell something you own to another State...should that be a prosecutable action?
Can it be something intangible like your own labor or expertise?
This is for all you free market thinkers out there - especially the AnCaps.
Is Oliver going to be on the ballot in Tennessee? I received my sample ballot from the election commission and was surprised to see that he was left off.
The LNC considers that $47,000 as Accounts Receivable. It is the bulk of the $51,610 seen here: https://groups.google.com/g/lnc-business-list-public/c/7mRgVkcEG6s
The LNC now admits that there was never an agreement with Trump to pay any expenses related to his appearance at the LP convention. The LNC would like Trump to pay, anyway. Surely the check will be coming any day now.
Todd Hagopian says "they lied to me when I was the Treasurer and told me that the Trump appearance would not cost us any money, and they lied to the membership in the same fashion." https://thirdpartywatch.com/2024/10/06/judicial-committee-hears-dorazio-appeal/comment-page-1/#comment-3752
At-Large LNC member Kathy Yeniscavich says of the LNC's financial situation:
"I would like to ensure everyone understands the bleak financial picture.
"As of today, per the staff report in the separate email, we have $134,104.99 in two bank accounts and a money market account. All but $6,093 is considered restricted, not in the strict accounting sense but that is money that is spoken for, so to speak, and includes $25,793 in the PNC Business Money Market Account (this is the bond for the Michigan lawsuit and cannot be touched), $25,000 encumbered for the deductible for a lawsuit, and 77,217 in credit card debt.
"As of today, the LNC's 10% share of the KVF (Kennedy Victory Fund) we that has been collected is $139,000, which is more than our current bank balances. Think about what that means.
"That's the full financial picture. There is no additional cash reserve."
Also, "exposing the LNC to litigation". McArdle has frequently made that claim, but I have yet to see her or anyone else specify who would be suing the LNC and on what grounds.
