After a long wait, the version 4.41.03 for YouTube app on tvOS has been released this month since its previous version in December 2023(?). In other words, the wait lasted around nine months since its previous update. Hopefully, the bugs and stability are already fixed by then.
I recently bought the TCL 75Q750g and I have been running the Apple TV 4k as a streamer with it, and I have loved the pairing, however a couple nights ago the wife and I sat down to watch a show in complete darkness and the picture still seemed way to dim. My settings for brightness and contrast were turned all the way up. I then started doing comparisons between HDR and SDR on many different forms of streaming content and platforms, and I saw that SDR always looked better. The SDR had inkier blacks and better shadow detail while HDR, Dolby Vision and HDR10+ content was dim and muddy. I previously had a TCL 6 series and I loved the HDR on that panel, however with the Q7 I feel like I'd rather watch content in SDR. Does anyone know of why this could be the case and or have a fix? My TV is calibrated to rtings settings.
Hi, I just got an Apple TV A1625 and have set everything up and logged in to Apple ID. However, the “Movies” app and the “Apple TV +” app do not appear so I am unable to buy or rent movies. I have no idea as to why this is as I have never owned an Apple TV before, has anyone heard of this before and knows how fix this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
With DTV losing the Disney channels I have tried the YTV trial and I am really enjoying it. The only thing holding me back is the Siri Remote. Is there an alternative remote that can programmed to the AppleTV4k (i currently have the newer silver one) that would be really close to the Fire TV remote that I have on our rec room tv? I love that it has dedicated ff/rw/play/pause buttons.
Been using my Vizio tv (p65-f1), Vizio soundbar (sb3651-e6), Apple TV setup untouched for years and never had a problem. I am using the hdmi earc to connect the soundbar and tv. For the past while I’ve actually ONLY had the soundbar itself hooked up - no subwoofer or satellite speakers.
Lately I have been experiencing audio delay. It seems to start off okay but then becomes delayed - I think? I tried replacing the hdmi cable but no difference. Then I just unhooked the soundbar and the audio is fine out of tv speakers, they just suck…
Any idea what’s wrong? My cousin was over and wasn’t sure how to work things but I can’t think of what she might have changed if anything?
It seems like a soundbar or a tv-soundbar connection since changing that out makes things work…
Any ideas?
Probably been asked a million times but didn’t seem to get what I was looking for from the search.
I just got a 4k tv, I don’t pay for 4k upgrades on streaming. I don’t really care either way about it. I have the hd Apple TV I got before the 4k was even released… it’s old. But I did upgrade to the Siri Remote when it came out. I did upgrade all my hdmis when I got the tv to make sure they were 4k compatible since they are in my wall and the old ones were ten plus years old . But again I don’t think I consume much in 4k. My current atv is fine, no issues.
Bottomline is it really worth me upgrading to the new one? And why would i need the Ethernet one? Seems fine with just the wifi?

Is it just me or is the Windows Apple TV app.... really really bad?
Honestly it could just be my machine, I only have one Windows computer but it runs awfully. It kind of... stutters every time it reaches a point where there'd be an ad break if it was broadcast TV. I'm assuming the shows stream as seperate files and it's getting muddled up moving from one to the next. Then if it's been playing for more than about 20min it starts playing at like... one frame every 2-3 seconds, though the audio keeps going normally.
Plus, the content classification graphic sometimes stays on screen the entire episode, and the captions are in entirely the wrong font 😂.
Here's a demo of it happening (warning: flashing images, could be an epilepsy risk). It definitely happens with content purchased on iTunes, as well as content streamed from Apple TV Channels like Paramount+. It doesn't happen on native Apple TV+ shows.
My computer itself is fine, it's a fairly high end gaming PC so it's not like it's struggling for resources.
Anybody else experienced this issue?
When I take videos on my 15 pro max, it says the video is recording in Dolby. When I do airplay from my phone to my current gen Apple TV 4K, it plays on regular sdr filmmaker mode.
When I watch hdr and Dolby content, it automatically switches to those picture standards without my doing so. I have match frame rate, dynamic range and quick media switching all on
My tv is a 77 lg c3. It has no issue playing other content in the desired format
So how can I stream these Dolby videos from my iPhone 15 pro max to my tv in Dolby quality instead of regular sdr?
Appreciate it
This is annoying because I have to click right to my profile photo before I can sign in. Anyone have a workaround for this? I’ve tried restarting the tv, the Apple TV, and signed out and back in to Netflix.
I really want to buy one right now, but it has been a while since a new generation was released. I also don't want to wait longer than a few more months. And again, I would feel pretty stupid if a new one came out with noticeable features.
I bought apple tv especially to control my AVR and tv. 4k version doesn't control my visio tv.
I could hand this over to automod but I need recommendations too lol
Hello everyone, I have developed an Android version of the Apple TV remote app called AtvRemote, and I would like to invite some people to participate in testing. The development is still in its very early stages, and it only supports some basic remote control functions.
If you’d like to join the testing, please first join the Google Group, then visit the google play link to join the testing. Thanks for everyone.
Anyone getting HDR through Apple TV? I had to switch to my tv (without Apple tv) to see it in hdr
Title. Worked fine for a long time and nothing has changed but tonight my apple tv just power cycles constantly.
Hey guys, I think I’m going crazy I’ll try to keep this brief.
I have a Samsung Soundbar connected via Optical to my Samsung TV. I have not had the original soundbar remote for a long time but always controlled it with my Samsung TV remote. When I purchased my Apple TV I used the Samsung TV remote to sync up the Apple TV remote and it has controlled my soundbar volume perfectly until yesterday when it stopped entirely. When this initially happened my Samsung TV remote didn’t work either but after resetting the soundbar the TV remote works as it should but I cannot get ATV remote to control soundbar.
Here is what I have confirmed / troubleshooted so far:
My Samsung tv remote does still control the soundbar volume.
I have deleted the device from ATV and relearned using original method (using Samsung TV remote) with no success.
I tried resetting ATV remote (menu button plus volume down etc.)
I tried repairing ATV (back button plus volume up button)
I have tried different audio control inputs aside from Auto.
I have factory reset soundbar
-unplugged / replugged everything.
If you’ve read all this thank you for sticking with me. I’ve tried every solution I’ve come across online with no success. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.
Hi! I bought an Apple TV for my LG C4 a couple of months ago, and i found a very annoying issue where the screen turns black for a few seconds twice before playing any media content, specially annoying while watching YouTube shorts, each time I scroll the screen turns black to adjust to the media content, but when I turn off these settings I don’t notice any difference, what’s the advantage of having these on?
Hi I am still thinking about buying Apple TV. I have few additional questions. If you could answer any of them it would be nice. Is there any event this year when they can announce new device? And if not when there is next possibility in 2025. In Poland price for this device is 214 dollars (quiet a lot sadly ) so I don’t want to buy it now knowing that next one can be in less than half year.
I have also question if Disney app has no problem with subtitles size and fonts. Can we set actually big subtitles? There are a lot of issues with that on some android tv or PlayStation so I want to be sure.
Should I know something more that I can’t use external storage? I understand that VLC or infuse is enough for anything else.
Can I connect ps5 controller via Bluetooth for playing Apple Arcade games?
Should I know something more before buying? Is Apple TV really a lot of better than chromecast?
Hello, I'm staying at my sister's house and she has 3 TVs each one with its own apple TV box. I've tried casting from my YouTube TV account via my Pixel phone and have TV1 and TV2 available but no TV3, when I try to cast from Netflix I only have TV2 available, and when I try to cast from Prime video I get all TVs, lastly my Plex only sees TV2 available. All TVs and my phone are on the same house network. What's going on and how do I go about fixing this?
A while ago the Apple TV remote would control the volume of the TV through a soundbar. I could control navigation and volume both fine
Up until recently, the Apple TV remote can’t change the volume, instead I have to use the normal tv remote to control volume and the Apple TV remote to control navigation
Is there a setting that changed over an update or something?
I thought this setting only applied to movie and tv shows. I was playing with settings in TVOS 18 yesterday and I happened to turn off this setting when listening to the SXM app. Immediately the music became louder but more importantly the mid base actually had more detail and clarity as well. Game changer!
BTW I tried Enhance Dialogue in the Settings app and it does not impact music apps- just movies and tv shows.
I might just be a slow learner.
Think my A2169 finally died. Went to use it yesterday and all I got was a black screen. Tried doing research to see if it could be fixed - tried all of the common suggestions (power cycle, reset from remote, different inputs, different HDMI cables). Nothing seems to be working. I’m posting here because the write ups and posts didn’t match my experience and/or was written for a different generation (black remote, push “menu” button, connect via usb to iTunes…).
HDMI seems to be sending a signal to the tv, when I disconnect or power cycle I get the “no signal detected). White light on front responds to remote inputs, volume up/down on remote is responsive for tv (I’ve never programmed it and it doesn’t work when Apple TV is disconnected), I get the Apple logo upon start up but then nothing after. I could have sworn yesterday that I heard the menu selection sounds (“bloops”) as I used the directional trackpad but trying to select anything didn’t result in additional sounds or playing of anything.
Not sure how old it is 2, maybe 3 years. Was NIB when I bought from retailer, not refurbished. My refurbished 64GB that I bought around the same time is going strong in another room.
Edit: turns out it was the hdmi inputs on my <$100 insignia tv. Tried all 3 unsuccessfully then swapped out devices and confirmed no video data. Power cycled tv with the plug and it works now. <shrug>.
My default settings are 4K SDR (50hz) with match range and frame rate both on.
In my mind it shouldn’t matter if you choose 50hz or 60hz so long as match frame rate is on, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Changing the frequency does change judder and playback smoothness. This is actually most noticeable with the Apple TV screensavers.
Specifically woth Amazon Prime and Rings of Power - this should be 24fps/hz, but leaving Match Frame Rate on results in a 60p output which leads to dropped frames, judder and otherwise unpleasant watching experience. I have to manually set the Apple TV to 24hz and turn match frame rate off or it forces 60hz. And then remember to change it back after.
Does anyone know what’s going on, and what I can do to fix it?
I saw alot of people praising the quality of ATV4K, and thinking to finally jump the ship.
I'm aware on the latest software update that ATV4K does support Atmos. But I saw a lot of reddit post mentioned it doesn't work with Atmos in Plex.
Can anyone confirm if they can get their Dolby Atmos movie collection from plex working on the latest ATV4K?
Thankss
I want to get a device that allows me to screen mirror to my Samsung TV (it is from 2017, so one year before they introduced the Airplay function as standard on Samsung TVs).
I am strongly considering the 3rd gen A1469, as I can pick one of those up for less than £10.
What is the performance like - will it lag, and how is the quality - I assume it would be in 1080p or 720?
The 4th Gen is the other option, but they are a little bit more ~£40-50.
I would go with this option, but if the 3rd gen worked for what I needed it for (literally just decent quality screen mirroring for video and audio) there would be no point in paying the extra.
Anyone have experience with the 3rd gen? Thanks! I should mention I would be mirroring from an iPhone 11 Pro Max, and Macbook Pro 2015 (running Mojave)
Now I have to ask for any tips and tricks. Also I have a Samsung tv maybe 4 years old. Is there a way to set it so that when I turn the tv on it just goes straight to the Apple TV? I want to use the Samsung UI is little as humanly possible lol
Thanks!!!
