For the last couple months, we have been having a bad problem with the Netflix app on AppleTV. It is as if there were not enough bandwidth. Shows suddenly pixelate and they take forever to start playing. However, I have plenty of bandwidth. I'm able to watch 4K video in the AppleTV app, Disney app, Hulu app and Max app all with no problem whatsoever. Further, one television has its own Netflix app and that also works fine. This is unwatchable. Is anyone else having this problem?
I have tried restarting the AppleTV and uninstalling and re-installing the Netflix app. Neither helped.
I'm new to Max because of the Black Friday sale, I have to fumble with my remote just to rewind 10 seconds, it's like I have to provoke the seek bar before the skip backwards command works.
Seeking in Netflix app is like butter. I don't recall having this issue 2 years ago on HBOMax.
Does anybody else have issues with the NBC app and it making you re-sign into your cable provider like nearly every day?
They carry our local news and watch Today so use it nearly every day. As of late, I’ve had to sign in daily and it’s driving me nuts.
Everytime I start my device it goes straight to Youtube Shorts. Does anyone else have this problem?
For telling me who won the soccer final as I open the sports page. Unbelievable.
I’m new here so apologies if this has been discussed before. I kind of hope it has so I’m not the only one voicing my annoyance , but does anyone else find the loud clicking of the remote control buttons intrusive and bothersome? It’s especially annoying at night when I’d like to be quiet. Even my cat hates it because we wake him up every time we want to do anything on Apple TV. I really hope this is changed in the device‘s next iteration.
Hey all, anyone know how to log in to the MGM+ app on Apple TV if account is associated/logged in with your Amazon account? Thx!!
Wondering if anyone might have a solution for my needs. I have folders in my Files app chock full of artist reference photos (1000+.) I’d like to display those on my TV to then draw on my iPad Pro. I don’t know that this is doable, as I can only get Files up while screen mirroring, thus not having the iPad for use. I’d like to avoid putting these thousands of images into my camera roll for Photos. I guess best solution would be an alternate app that could pull those files straight on Apple TV. Would like to avoid setting up a machine to host these or something as they’re already in my iCloud.
Thanks!
I'm considering getting an Apple TV 4k for my bedroom TV, but don't use any Apple products at the moment. Everything in our house is either Android or Amazon Alexa.
Does the Apple TV 4k integrate well (or at all) with Android or Alexa? If not, is it still a better choice as a standalone streamer than an Nvidia Shield Pro?
Feel like I'm seeing a lot more problems here lately. Or are they mostly beta problems, and people aren't mentioning it's beta? (seems like it's not beta stuff)
My home Apple TV hasn't been updated to 17 yet, and I'm not having issues even with some of the non-Apple apps I see people complaining about.
Which is why I haven't updated my Apple TV yet, I don't want to deal with tech issues, I just want it to work. At home, the last few months, it's mostly the TV app, Prime/MGM+/AMC/Shutter/Sundance/Shudder, Infuse, Topic, Max, (and a little of the following) Disney+, Hulu/Starz, and Paramount+/Showtime.
Although, I think the Apple TV 4k in my classroom has been updated to 17 (at least it doesn't keep asking me), and I'm not having issues there. Although in the classroom it's mostly the TV app, screen-sharing/AirPlay, BrainPop Jr., and Curiosity Stream.
Does anyone use s VPN on their apple tv for sports? I live in US and was vacationing in Mexico last week. Bought the NFL weekly games for $1. Essentially it looks like you can buy Sunday ticket for $20. Does anyone have experience eth tht VPN addition being fairly new? If so what are your thoughts?
At my old house, it worked fine. Now I moved and the phone/ipad remote app just won’t connect. A weird part is the keyboard works, like I was searching YouTube and the keyboard popped up on my phone? But the remote itself just won’t connect? Any ideas? I hope I’m not the only one…
I have the Apple TV 4K A2169 running tvOS 17.1 and TCL QLED Q6 TV. Both the devices got updated a couple of weeks ago, and ever since, every single time I play something the first time after I turn it on, it completely mutes itself and I have to unmute it.
Anybody else facing this? Coz I’m not sure if it’s because of the Apple TV or my TV itself.
I like this button to be set to bring you to the Home Screen, it works on my remote and works on both remote and iPhone in my bedroom…. But not my living room tv. Brand new APTV 4K updated firmware. Anyone have this issue???
Apple TV started acting up yesterday and showing this weird color scheme on every single show/movie on the AppleTV app. All other shows/movies on other apps work perfectly. Also the weird thing is that the main page of AppleTV has normal colors. It just gets like this when I start watching shows. I’ve tried messing around with my picture settings, resetting the app, resetting the TV but nothing has worked. Any one have a similar experience and what worked?
My model is UN32M4500BFXZA have the format in atv set to 1080p with match DR (to test if it was compatible at the time) and framerate and watched Monarch and it appears I can do dolby vision despite my to picture setting non having hdr picture modes. Why is this?
I want to share my iTunes movies with my family, who lives on the other side of the country. I don't feel comfortable enabling my payment method on their TV, as multiple people in their house can access the TV.
Is there any way I can enable the sharing, but disable the payment method so I am not being billed? Or can i atleast enable some kind of "ask for permission" so I can just decline, if anyone presses the wrong button?
rn it feels really unintuitive, which isnt normal for apple stuff ..
edit: should I maybe create a child account for them, apparently there is a permission to buy feature?
I've had problems with setting up my stereopair homepod minis as my main TV speakers (also through ARC). I'm giving some tips for people who are struggling aswell. (Keep in mind English is not my native language)
First things first, make sure that your apple tv 4k has this option, HD apple tv's for example don't have this option to use homepod as main speakers (so I've heard). Secondly Make sure that your apple TV is set up with the same device (Apple ID) as your homepods. If your homepods are linked to apple ID (x) then using stereopair as your main audio for your TV will only work if your apple TV is also linked to apple ID (x). When I was setting up my apple TV I used my iphone (but the homepods were linked to my girlfriend ID/ she is the "owner" of homekit I'm just a"user"). Because of that I wasn't able to set the stereopair as my main TV speakers, only the option "use as temporary speakers" was available. Resetting the apple tv and using my girlfriends phone to set it up again fixed that problem. Also make sure that the homepods and apple tv are in the same "room" in homekit. When your apple tv is placed under "living room" but your homepods are placed under "kitchen" for example, it won't work.
When you still have problems, I've found that turning the apple TV off and on again (restarting NOT resetting) fixes a lot of problems so try that when you play with your settings and when some things are not working as they should. Doing this has fixed for me the problem of the apple TV remote not being able to control homepod volume. Also it fixed the issue of only one homepods audio being adjusted with the remote when the other had a fixed volume.
When using the homepod minis as your main TV speakers (for watching regular TV, Playstation/Xbox, etc). Make sure that your TV has an EARC or ARC hdmi port and connect your apple TV through that specific hdmi port. Also make sure that your HDMI Cable supports audio/arc or it would also not work.
When you've done all of these things and the option to use the homepods as your main TV speakers through ARC hasn't popped up yet in Apple TV audio settings, then you should look at your TV settings. I have a 4K Samsung TV (RU7100) and the ARC setting (hidden deep in settings, was not even in audio settings it was somewhere under general settings) was turned off. After that I had to change some specific audio settings, so that the TV knew that the tv audio should be played through Hdmi with arc and not the built-in TV speakers). Don't know if all tv's have specific arc settings, but before giving up and buying a new TV or returning the apple TV/homepods, make sure that there isn't a hidden setting about arc in your TV settings.
This is a general tip. You can use multiple accounts (different apple id's) on apple tv. So if apple ID (x) that you've used to set up everything doesn't have apple music or other subscriptions, don't worry. Set up a new user on apple tv and the things that user (Y) has purchased with his or her apple ID (like apple music for example) will be available on apple TV also.
I hope that these tips will help some people, because I've wasted 3 hours figuring it all out.
Good day —
Trying to get this old Apple TV to work is so frustrating.
It boots up just fine and I plug in my Ethernet cable so it’s on my network. I can see it from my iPhone remote app (iPhone 15). When I try to use the remote app it tells me to enter a code on the Apple TV to confirm pairing, which of course I cannot do because I have no remote.
I’ve read all the support stuff online, I’ve tried restoring the Apple TV on 2 different computers using multiple micro usb cables, but the computers don’t recognize it.
I spent probably 2 hours on this last weekend. I hate to junk this thing that works perfectly fine just because I can’t enter the pairing code.
Is there any other way? Has anyone figured this out?
Thank you.
Lately Amazon videos only play sound without video. I have an Apple TV 4k almost 2 years old. It was working fine until recently. I have a Sony Bravia tv. So. Tried the amazon app on the Sony tv and it works fine. Guess it’s an Apple TV issue
I’m using an Apple TV (4K model) connected to an older Samsung smart TV (not sure of the exact model but probably close to 10 years old at this point). For some reason, no matter what I’m doing, whether that be looking at the apps on the home page, watching shows/films using the Apple TV app or other streaming services, the bottom part of the screen- probably the bottom third or so- is darker than the top part. I’ve reset the Apple TV, looked through the settings on both the TV and Apple TV, checked the HDMI cable and looked at the display settings but nothing seems to be working. Does anyone know what’s happening or how I should go about fixing it?
Anyone noticed how, when moving through the home-screen, so does the sound?
I find that very neat indeed.
Hello there Quick question: I recently bought an Oled Samsung S90C. All good except it doesn’t support Dolby vision. I was wondering if adding last generation of Apple TV 4K will help me to get that DV content ?
Pressing the Home button on Remote app (mine and wife’s) Apple TV Remote results in nothing.
The Apple TV box blinks but I’m not sent to the Home Screen, nothing happens.
I’ve power cycled everything to no avail. Issues started this morning and continue through the night.
Any experiencing similar?
Thanks
So I started it and idk if the show is like this but visually the episode is dark like even when they outside bright ass day and it looks dark. I had to manually turn up the brightness on my tv to watch it because it’s kinda annoying. Anyone else have this issue? I’m watching it on the Apple TV 4K box. I’ve tried other shows and it looks fine but this one is dark I haven’t seen the other episodes yet
Just got a Samsung CU700D TV, and I’m using a brand new Apple TV 4K, am I able to control my older Vizio soundbar that uses an optical input, as opposed to the ideal HDMI-CEC input
Is it even possible to control the soundbar through the Apple TV remote ?
Apple TV glitches: When using Siri to watch a show, it suggests paid rentals even when the same content is available on subscribed platforms like Netflix. Any fixes or insights appreciated!
Edit: Okay well thanks for the fast responses everyone. It’s just giving me more arguments to cancel Netflix.
