Rules

  • No profanity: We like to try and keep this subreddit clean. Please refrain from the use of profanity.
  • No torrent links or P2P of copyrighted material: Please refrain from advocating piracy in this subreddit. For legal reasons, we want to avoid such links.
  • Flag your posts: You are required to flag your post. If you do not, it is grounds for removal, or it will be left up to the moderators to decide how your post is flagged. Please flag your post.
  • Questions Must Have Adequate Information: You must provide the thread with information about your build, to know more on what you're required to share, check this post.
  • Search Before Posting: If your question has already been posted before (even if not by you), please make sure to read the other post before posting. In the event it doesn't answer your question/problem, please link prior post you read and then ask about what you don't understand. Low effort posts will be removed.
  • No distro/beast tools: We do not not support the use of tools such as UniBeast and Multibeast as well as distros such as iAtkos, Niresh, Olarila and such. The reason for this is that these tools do more damage than good as they neither teach you what you're doing and can also damage macOS itself with unneeded framework changes.

The Dortania guide provides ways to install macOS without a Mac device with macOS sourced from Apple directly.

  • No self-promotion: Please keep all paid services and advertisements off the subreddit. This community does not wish to be affiliated with such sources so all paid work and such should be kept private

  • No Mac or VM posts: Regardless of what methods were used for installing, we are a subreddit focused on PC hardware running macOS. Please keep macOS specific, virtual machines and Mac hardware posts to their respective subreddits.

  • Don't distribute EFIs: Do not share your EFI folders, instead point users to the subreddit's vanilla guides. If you would like to share your work, document the specific items required to build your Hackintosh that were not covered in the guide instead. Pre-baked EFI posts will be removed as they are not guaranteed to work and they spread a low-effort sentiment in the Hackintosh community.

  • Note: You can share your EFI in order to ask for help, but you cannot send EFIs to the requester as a way of helping.

  • No Youtube Videos: While we understand some users may be more visual learners, please understand that most(if not all) youtube guides either:

    • Steal the work of others and hide behind paywalls
    • Become easily outdated
    • Largely incorrect and spreading false info

So we highly discourage uses of these videos, instead much preferring users follow the written guides in our FAQ and Sidebar. The main offenders of these types of videos are from TechNolli, Morgonaut, and TechTunerLife.

  • Alpha/Beta Software releases are unsupported: Because alpha/beta software is full of bugs, supporting beta software makes it difficult to troubleshoot issues. Please avoid posting about beta software help until it has reached GM.

  • Success posts of these softwares are welcomed with proper documentation and [IT BOOTS! (WIP)] flair. Help and question posts will be removed.

  • Unrelated Posts and Memes: Unrelated subjects and memes are not allowed in this subreddit. This sub is mainly for help and information sharing about hackintoshing. The mods reserve the right to remove any post that is of low quality or unrelated to the subreddit.

    What is a Hackintosh?

A Hackintosh is a non-Apple computer that runs macOS.

    • AMD USERS READ THIS: While it may be more work, the AMD hackintosh scene has gotten quite a bit easier. Do note we're primarily an intel subreddit but feel free to ask questions relating to AMD based systems. (AMD Laptops and AMD integrated GPUs are unsupported)
    • You can find the AMD OS X discord here
    • OpenCore Install Guide

    • macOS INSTALLERS NOTE: This sub is dedicated to legally obtained copies of macOS. Please do not ask, or post, about things like iAtkos, Niresh, or any other modified macOS installer that may have malicious code in it!

    • Pre-Built EFI NOTE: We provide minimal to no support for Pre-Built EFIs from GitHub, Hackintosher and such due to generally being heavily outdated, poorly made and users not knowing what their hackintoshes are doing. You may still ask for help but please be prepared to remake your EFI from scratch following the OpenCore Vanilla Guide

    • UniBeast and Multibeast NOTE: Unfortunately we do not support the use of beast tools due to being closed sourced, can modify MacOS files and users generally not know what these tools are doing(more info here). You will be requested to restart your installation following the OpenCore Vanilla guide to properly learn hackintoshing or face public humiliation and be stuck with your broken Hackintosh

Check out the brand-new FAQ! Don't ask before you read it fully, twice.

Make sure you post your Hackintosh's specifications when you ask questions. (Posting guidelines in the FAQ or further down the sidebar)

Regarding info/guides posted to this subreddit, we reserve all right to remove posts we feel either break the rules, provide poor info or redirects to other poorly made guides. Please understand that we want to keep the subreddit clean and a place where people don't have to worry about getting false info

Hello, so I have built the whole EFI and will be using macOS Ventura, but issue arrises when I am in Mac installation phase. It shows me approximately 50 mins to wait. When it arrives till 40 mins it directly jumps to 12 mins. And when the is 10 mins remaining, the pc reboots itself to opencore bootloader. Stuck on this for 24hrs now.

    Sequioa booting to black screen.

Hello guys, im stuck here. I have managed to install mac os 15.2 ( twice ). It installs all the way and can set it up and use it, everything works. I have copied the BOOT and OC folders into the internal drive EFI.

The problem that im facing is that once i switch it on, i can not boot into mac os using the internal drive. It loads into Opencore boot loader, but once i select Macintosh HD it shows a bunch of text then goes to a black screen.

Considering that ive been able to install twice and gone all the way, im pretty sure there is a small step that im messing up. Here are my specs

MB : Asus Tuf gaming B760m plus wifi
    Ram : 64GB DDR5
GPU : Gigabyte Radeon RX 6600
    CPU : Intel core i5 14500

Dont know what else i should provide,, Anyone who knows what might be the problem please assist. Im at my wits end now, obviously i cant just have it on until forever.

    My T480 setup with a single USB-C!

So the success here is not about the build itself, but more on how i got this beast of an machine with this nice thunderbolt 3 port + another full usb-c port and it was kinda of a pain to get it working properly! It took me some months with tweaking, comparing, searching and asking but, in the end, this build has everything working! (at least hackintool says so and tb3 bridge shows up in the network section, i couldnt test actual tb3 accessorys, but usb-c hotplugging itself is working, which for some reason also didnt work before)

Now my setup is super clean with a nice cable management and i couldnt be happier 🥹🥹

Changed refresh rate, now can't boot. "Input Not Supported"

    update: Solved, thanks to u/homomemeboi

The Solution: As u/homomemeboi said I plugged my HDMI cable to my Android TV and tried booting and it booted successfully and I changed the resolution to 1920x1080 at 60hz. then I tried booting back to my main monitor and It Booted!

I changed the refresh rate to 25hz from 165hz for fun. and it suddenly showing black screen with a message on my monitor "Input Not Supported". even though I tried rebooting several times.

    https://preview.redd.it/w0cks7dsw57e1.jpg?width=4624&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9d6ea8b543f7b7b323c9a4261bc73610d597c17e

I recently installed this hackintosh, and it works flawless. The issue occured when I changed the refresh rate to the lowest (25hz).

    My Specs:

    • Intel i5 9400F
    • AMD RX 570
    • Zebronics H110M (motherboard)

    Do I have to reinstall?

    Totally newbie on hackintosh

    Hi !

I'm trying to create for the first time a hackintosh following Dortania's Guide

    PC Specs
    CPU: Ryzen 5 3400G
GPU: RX 580 2048sp (i know isn't compatible for GPU Accel, working on mod BIOS)
    RAM: 2x8GB Dual Channel
    SSD: KINGSTON SA2000M8250G
    Chipset: A320 IPC
    Ethernet: Realtek PCIe GbE (8168)
Audio: Realtek ALC662 | Audio USB: Ugreen Adapter (Unitek Y-247A)
No Wifi/Bluetooth Card (I connected my SSD using their port with an adapter too, ik its ridiculous but works)
[GPU Note: I connected my GPU with an adapter m.2 to-Oculink-to X16, my only problem with this mod it's only the bandwith, on Windows and Linux everything works fine
My GPU works with a PSU Cooler Master MWE Gold 850 V2]

I spotted my miniPC on a YouTube video review if you want to check it

I created my config.plist file and i got stuck on this

Sinkclose Vulnerability BIOS Update Breaking OpenCore

Hi, I've noticed that with the last BIOS update on the two B550 motherboards that I have OpenCore won't boot, it just stays on LOG:EXITBS:START When I downgrade the BIOS everything works as expected Anyone else has this issue? Is it normal that the fix for that vulnerability breaks OpenCore?

Do I need a different EFI folder to go from Ventura to Sonoma? Z20 SLI Plus - i7700k

Hi all, I'm afraid I'm one of those super annoying posters who only vaguely knows what they are doing, so please go easy on me 🙏

I've had a Hackintosh for a few years (Z20 SLI plus, I7-770k, onboard graphics) running Catalina.

Something went wrong with it a week or two ago, so I scrubbed it & started again from scratch with opencore.

I did a fresh install of Ventura, & got everything working including Bluetooth via a dongle (no wi-fi card, using Ethernet). All runs well

What I would really like to install however is Sonoma. If I try & upgrade to Sonoma using the regular Apple 'System settings' upgrade route, It starts the process, then on reboots, it end with a series of errors where it keeps 'retrying something' (see attached screen grab). I thought I would try this first just in case it would work.

Should I be able to run Sonoma on this older hardware (basically a 2017 iMac)? or should I give up & let it live out its days on Ventura?

If folks think it could run Sonoma? Any hints as to how to modify my Ventura EFI to allow this. I have the usual opencore configurator tools & am familiar with the basic process.

    Thanks

    BCM94360CS2 Wifi/BT combo card on 15.2

Have anyone managed to get it working on macOS 15.2 ? I've updated mine to 15.2 and OCLP just bricks the machine. Leaving me with a black screen with mouse cursor and the working shortcut is to call the Force quit window.

    Unofficial OCLP Discord help server

My friend and I, along with a group of about five people, created a server to support individuals using OCLP (OpenCore Legacy Patcher). You might be wondering, "OCLP? Isn’t that the tool for running macOS on legacy MacBooks?" The answer is yes. While OCLP is not specifically designed for Hackintoshes, we have found that it can still be used successfully with a good success rate on the majority of machines in addition, the OCLP creators have several guides tailoring to some issues that might be faced with hacks.

We don’t claim to be experts, but we've managed to help several unofficial machines get OCLP working, whether it's Broadcom Wi-Fi patching or getting legacy graphics running on systems that have been dropped by recent macOS versions.

If you have some knowledge of OCLP and would like to contribute, please feel free to join us! The more people we have helping out, the better. If you need assistance with OCLP, you are also welcome to join the server. However, please note that we cannot guarantee success, as OCLP is not designed for Hackintosh setups, but we will do our best to assist you.

    Important Notes:

    1. You are expected to have a supported version of macOS fully installed on your target machine, along with a fully working EFI after following the post install guide that you have created yourself. We do not support prebuilt EFIs like rule #6 mentions, or automated tools like OpCore Simplified.
    2. General Hackintosh support is available, but for more in-depth help, you should consult the official Hackintosh Discord.

    Happy Hacking!

    Here’s a non-expiring invite link to the server: https://discord.gg/N3Xa7h3yCy

    Trojan detected on my EFI

Actually I had done hackintosh previously using this EFI (I think i got it from internet or youtube). because when I try make mine it got stuck after choosing from the Opencore Boot Menu. so this time before installing hackintosh I thought lets test this on virustotal, and guess what? It detected trojans. like wtf?

    virustotal

    Virustotal: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/634d76fded5bbe2acf1314c833e71c787294ce4488aea9432f9fd7e8b514e2e1/detection

Also, I had extracted it on my windows, and I'm scared rn. so I did Quick Scan in Virus & threat protection setting and luckily I got "No current threats":

    virus & threat protection

but I'm still worried, what should I do next?

    My hackintosh wont boot

    • Core i3 1005G1 (Ice Lake)
    • HP DY1024WM

I recently used OpCore-Simplify and it worked, so I added HOrNDIS for USB tethering and then did a clean snapshot on my OC. I tried it but instead of booting into recovery or even showing the apple logo it just shows errors like "<NOTICE>: removing child pid/303". and it will keep throwing these errors, and it does not load. I have tried the OC sanity checker and I have no errors for my config.plist My EFI google drive is: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MW2MXPohFxlBL2EmR_9OHJcdVE_pVk7o/view?usp=drive_link .

Move SSD from MacPro5,1 to PC?

I have an install of Sequoia on an SSD in a MacPro5,1 using OCLP. Is it feasible to move this drive to a PC with MSI B660M mobo, Intel 12700k CPU, and Sapphire RX580 GPU, or would I need to start with a fresh install to make a working Hackintosh?

I already have Windows 11 running in the PC hardware.

Fix iGPU Acceleration+HDMI output on 500 Series motherboards

Hi everyone, I've finally found way to get Intel iGPUs to work with 500-series motherboards, both output and acceleration fully working!

The UHD 630 iGPU is known to not work with any 500-series motherboards on macOS.

Why does the 500 chipset has compatibility issues with macOS?

These motherboards are designed for Intel's 11th-gen CPUs, which use the newer Xe-LP graphics architecture. They have changes to the firmware table which breaks macOS compatibility, and cause framebuffer mapping issues, resulting in either no video output or no hardware acceleration.

    Solution?

After research and testing, I found this is the best solution:

Inject the monitor's EDID into the DeviceProperties. That's it!

I have put step-by-step guide on this fix

P.S: I switched to 400-mobo after giving up, but when I found this I tested it out and it works. I need people to test and report back if it consistently works.

    Tested on:
    B560M Gaming Mobo
