iPhone 12 or s23 ultra

My phone (samsung A52s) broke a little over 2 months ago, I've been using my brother's old phone ever since. Recently I got fed up with how bad it is and I decided I'll use up my savings to buy s23 ultra (720$) but my mom said she would sell me her iPhone 12 for 270$ so I've been thinking wether I should get the s23U or the iPhone 12 (I'm considering the iPhone cuz it saves me alot of money) and I couldn't really decide.

For context, I have never used an iPhone and I pretty much know nothing about it's software or how it works.

Also, if I wasn't supposed to post this here please do tell me where I should. Thank you

Why does my iPhone forgets to do every task? A few week ago I got late for my show because the alarm didn’t go off. It’s really annoying

iPhone 13 chirping sound

So this might just be my OCD. But I was awoken at 5:00am to a strange high-pitched chirping noise coming from my nightstand. I keep my iPhone 13 and my Apple Watch 5 charging. My phone charges on an AT&T surface charger and my watch charges on the generic Apple Watch charger.

After the noise I woke up to find the surface charger for my phone blinking red (granted I did pick it up to check it around 3:00am before setting back on the charge pad). It usually blinks blue 3-4 times when charging is successful. The noise sounded like a high-pitched chirp from a smoke detector.

I forgot to mention the phone was on sleep focus during this time.

I’m kind of stressing out because I’m not finding answers and I’m afraid my phone is being hacked.

Thanks!

Can I use this 70W usb c power adapter with Iphone 13?

I'm a mac user with little to no idea about Iphones. My friend's buying an Iphone 13 and I have a extra 70W usb c power adapter. Will this work with iPhone 13? Will there be any problem with 70W?

Weekly iOS Battery Support Megathread

General advice for those concerned about their battery from the Support FAQ Wiki:

Battery health

Battery health depends on usage and a variety of other factors. It is normal to see a decrease in battery health by 7-10% per year, resulting in a battery health of 80-85% after 2 years. This number can fluctuate, remain the same, or decrease quickly over a small period and should not cause undue concern.

Apple recommend battery replacement when your device falls below 80% battery health if you notice reduced battery life. If it falls below 80% within the first year you may be eligable for a free battery replacement. It fails after your warranty, it's a $69-$89 USD replacement cost for a battery. Contact Apple Support here.

You can find more information about battery health and performance from Apple here.

You can check the cycles count with Coconut Battery for Mac or iCopyBot for Windows.

Battery life

Issues relating to battery life can be categorised in three ways:

  1. Normal battery life that is to be expected due to use
  2. Reduced battery life caused by a recent update, iOS indexing, an iOS bug, or a third-party application
  3. Reduced battery life, or other abnormalities such as overheating or sudden power-off, caused by device or battery aging

If you experience issues with your battery:

  1. Check your battery health. If it is below 80% or you are experiencing issues you suspect are related to device or battery age, see Apple Support.
  2. If you have a new or recently updated/restored device, wait a number of days for background process to complete. If you continue to have issues, wait for a further iOS update. If you are on iOS Beta, you can expect to have a decreased battery life.
  3. Review the advice below on maximising battery life
  4. Consider restoring your device.
  5. If issues persist, contact Apple Support.

Maximising battery life - the amount of time your device runs before it needs to be recharged.

  • Use low power mode (This reduces mail fetch, turns off background app refresh and increases the auto lock timer)
  • Remove apps from background app refresh
  • Ensure auto lock is on
  • Turn off auto brightness and manually reduce brightness
  • Use dark mode if your device has an OLED display
  • Clearing background apps from the app switcher does not improve battery life

Maximising battery lifespan - the amount of time your battery lasts until it needs to be replaced.

  • Avoid extreme temperatures
  • If you notice that your iPhone gets hot when charging, remove it from its case
  • Store your iPhone in a cool place, switched off, and half-charged if not using it for long periods - and charge it every 6 months when in storage

Website caused phone to bug out?

I was on a website for movies for free (yes, bad idea, I know lol) but usually they don’t cause any problems. However, I was about to start a movie and my phone screen just went completely black and showed a refresh circle in the middle, then took me to my Lock Screen. Should I be worried?

My iPhone 15 Pro Max keeps minimizing apps randomly when I swipe right.

Hey y’all - just got an iPhone upgrade and was super excited…but now I’m super frustrated. My brand new phone is acting like I have a mysterious hidden Gesture programmed that, when I swipe right somewhere around the middle of the app, minimizes that app about 30% of the time. It’s maddening, and I can’t find any discussion about similar issues online. Any thoughts about how to make this stop?

Does apple slow down the App Store on older devices?

I’m on an iPhone 6s with iOS 15.8.2 and everytime I go to the App Store, it takes an excruciatingly long time to load. This doesn’t happen on the newer models and I checked. Downloads won’t take a long time, but just loading to that page takes a full 2 minutes.

Alarms randomly don’t go off

I’m so sick of my alarms just not going off in the morning. This morning I woke up 5 minutes before I had to leave and didn’t have time to shower, eat, or anything. I’ve woken up already late for work and have missed appointments because of it.

I’ve noticed it happens more often when I set more than three alarms which is extra annoying because that’s when I need them most.

iPhone 12 Pro flickering screen

I own an iPhone 12 Pro 256GB and sometimes with dark mode with a dark room I see my screen flickering, it change the tonality from total black to a little gray like old LCD screens on iPhone. This thing starts 1 year ago and onwards . iOS 17.2.1 installed.

So my question is: is this normal with a OLED screen? Apple know this problem? How to solve? I had an iPhone X and no problems

Reds and oranges in photos

Anyone feel red and oranges are a bit saturated? Just like enough to notice. This flower was a bit like a flame in color and it’s why I took the picture. However I feel the iPhone added some intensity only to the red.

How to prevent the "reset, one more minute" workaround for downtime/app limits?

So apparently the kids have figured out a workaround to the screen-time app limit settings.

It goes something like this, once you've reached your daily limit:

Power down the iPhone and restart it

Open the app you're trying to use.

It gives you the option for "give me one more minute"

The kid can just press that button and than has access to the app again, presumably for one more minute, but in reality as long as they don't close out of the app, they can continue using it for as long as they want.

This seems to work as long as "downtime" isn't actually on. That is, after-hours, it doesn't work, but during normal hours, if, say, they have used up their 30 minutes of YouTube, they can effectively keep using it for as long as they want.

Does anybody know a way I can prevent this?

Repair question

Basically my iphone 14 pro max back glass is cracked but not completely shattered alongside that my rear camera is cracked but also not really affecting it. occasionally it takes longer to focus but that’s because one chip slightly covers the lens but 90% it’s fine. Apple charge $899 for a back glass repair and something like $350 for rear camera repair. can you get quality third party repairs and is it worth it? I’m australian btw

iPhone 13 pro sim failure?

recently my phone keeps saying no sim detected or sim failure and it'll go into SOS mode for a bit then eventually come back. I've taken the sim out and reinserted it several times and tried restarting my phone which usually fixes the issue for a little bit. However my boyfriend who also has an iphone 13 pro also has this issue. Is this a common thing? What is going on?

iPhone 15 Pro - Black Screen of death failure

I dropped my iPhone 15 pro by accident in a case with a screen protector and the phone still looks to be in flawless condition, however after I picked it up from the ground, the screen froze. After a few short seconds, the screen went black. Vibrations and audio came through but nothing on the screen. I tried the hard reset that most people were talking about "volume up, volume down, power button for 10 second). That didn't work. The phone just booted back up as normal with a blank screen. Wondering if this is something that could have been caused by the drop or if this is some bug on apple's end. Would you guys recommend any other remedies before I take it into apple. Also how much would this kind of repair cost?

Optimised charging not working

Hi all. New to this sub Reddit but looking for answers and seeing a varied amount of answers. I upgraded my 13 pro to a 15 pro on 3rd April. I had optimised charging switched on with my 13 pro but it never worked and I think that’s mainly down to my charging habits being random. I’ve had it on charge every night at home since 3rd April from about 11pm to around 6am-7:30am. I have all the relevant location and privacy settings on as per the Apple website but it’s still charging to 100% within about 2 and half hours of plugging it in. It recognises my home as a significant location so not sure what or if I’m doing something wrong. I’ve seen significant locations being wiped might work but I want to be sure this has worked for people before I do it. Thanks in advance.

Surely that little screenshot icon that appears bottom left should also be drag droppable

Anyway to get it done?

Display damage from getting air bubbles out with a credit card?

I was putting on a new glass screen protector and went a little too far while getting the air bubbles out with a credit card, now my screen’s touch response is lagging/less responsive. did I cause permanent damage to the display? Physically everything looks okay, and I’ve tried turning it off and on again. :(

Contacts number keeps changing colour from blue to green - only person

My ex blocked me BUT i think he keeps unblocking and blocking me at the moment. I’m not sure but I think so. In the contacts box at the top of the iMessages menu- his name and number are green and then sometimes blue. I also saw he had notifications silenced a few weeks ago. I know this may not be a relationship advice forum and I get that and I also know I need to move on- I’m purely curious whether anyone can shed some light as to him maybe having unblocked me and keep changing his mind?

Just curious. Please don’t tell me to move on- I know that I need to okay.

I just would like someone to answer this question as his is the only number and name that changes colours from green to blue. No one else. I find it too much of a coincidence that him having blocked me being the only contact whose colour keeps changing that’s all…. Also in the text message writing box it has the blue arrow as I type. I am not sending anything lol
