It is not known where this style of crochet was invented but it is most probable that it was invented in France or England. Also, Tunisian crochet is often confused with knooking, but they are two separate crafts. If you are interested in knooking, try r/knooking instead.

I'm trying this brick stitch with the mosaic technique...

Ready...set...go!
Self striping sock yarn on outside, plain on inside. 4mm double ended hook. Knit stitch. In the round. Faked my way through without a pattern, then had to copy whatever it was I'd done for the second one. Happy happy! I made no effort whatsoever to align the stripes from mitt to mitt. Sokay.
Disclaimer: I know the pic is knitting, it is just a reference. I may be incredibly dumb for not being able to figure this out. I have only ever made triangles, circles, and rectangles. I am trying to emulate the shape of this scarf and cannot figure out if it’s possible. No matter how I search online I cannot find a Tunisian crochet version of this sort of shape, except one that the wave was horizontal, not vertical on the sides if that makes sense?
If y’all have any insight, please lmk! Thank you!
Been doing practice swatches for 2 weeks, and finally found one super comfortable for me to do. Made a hat!
I want to make a tunisian crochet sweater but the patterns are mostly in the round. Can i use short, double ended hooks instead of the corded, interchangeable ones or long metal double ended ones?
How can I fix the side?
Discovered tunisian crochet in the middle of last year, so I started a blanket, it's all going to be stripes, different colours and patterns. I started this in August, and finished it yesterday. It's not perfect, I've made mistakes, randomly decreased some stitches without knowing how, and now on to the next stripe! Feeling accomplished 😄
Edit to add. - photo in the comments as it wouldn't attach!
wondering if anyone has tried this for tunisian crochet? idk if it's even useful or helpful in any way for TC but just curious of anyone has tried it or knows if it could be used
Once I'm finished my TNG uniform cardigan (which isn't Tunisian, so I'm only posting pictures over in r/Brochet), and after two knitted cardigan projects, I'll be making a Tunisian Simple Stitch cardigan styled after the Star Trek:Lower Decks uniforms, from the top down. Which means I need a good-looking cast-on method for the collar's hem.
I'll be trying to simply wrap the yarn around my hook enough times to see if that works, but I'm pretty sure a normal chain is straight out, though the "long-tail crochet base foundation" (video link) may work.
Are there other methods of casting-on that might work as well for this most important moment in a project's process?
Though, now that I think about it, just about every knitting cast-on would probably work for Tunisian crochet, right? Oh dear. I've heard there's books that have upwards of two-hundred cast-on and -off methods...
I am genuinely lost. I've kept a good count of my single stitch. So why is it tilting to the side/pyramiding? Is it a case of looking at this too long itis (this is the product of a whole day of work, I don't wanna frog it!), because I want this to be part of a blanket later on. There's going to be a single crochet border to join everything up later, it just abruptly started to bug me.
Currently working on a half double blanket. Absolutely in love with the ribbed texture! Just wanted to share.

I managed to find ridiculously small glass vases for my miniature flowers! I’m still working on the cherry blossom pattern and it will eventually be a whole branch but I couldn’t resist plinking a few finished blooms in there 🤣
0.4 m hook, DMC machine thread no.50, patterns: Hydrangea by me and Cherry Blossom (in progress)
I have made quite a few Christmas stockings but can't figure out how to make this work. The stitch pattern is alternating full stitch and puff stitch (but in the space instead of the bar) so it spirals up and to the left. I looked at a few different ways to make socks and stockings with tunisian and, from what I can see, most increased leading up to where the ankle would be and decreased the same amount after, then following it up as far as you want. I do the body of the sock, without the heel and toe first. I can't find a clean and pretty way to increase and decrease on both sides. On one side, I can usually get it alright, then the other side goes to crap.
Can it actually be done pretty on both sides? Since it's a Christmas stockings, could I do it only on one side? It creates a pretty stiff fabric with the hook and yarn I use. Is there a better way to do all of this? I make the heel and toe a difference color, but would it be better to start at the toe and crochet it all together and just do color changes?
I've read posts where people mention adding a border to neaten up sides and stop the curling. I am especially looking for a border technique that would "perk up" the bottom/top diamond points; as well as making the sides look more homogeneous.
I have gone through the wonderful wiki, but I couldn't find an article on this. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
