Yay! I completed the January installment “lynx” with a couple of hours to spare! LOL (I’m using the folded edge method for this project as I really don’t enjoy dealing with the unfinished edges when I’m done.)
I was looking for a nice craft to try and found latch hook. I wanted to find kits that would look nice as are in my house and found a great variety at the website above.
Very soon after placing my order they sent me an update saying they were taking a long leave (until feb 6) and wouldn’t be shipping out until then. They did offer a discount if I chose to wait, or a full refund if I wanted to rescind my order… but I worry is this site a scam? Have any of you used it?
I was latch-hooking a large project while waiting for my mom at the hospital. I was in the zone, having a good time and listening to Josh Johnson's standup. Every so often, when I'm crafting in the wild, I get people that ask what I'm doing or making or what have you. But this older gentleman says "How long have you been latch-hooking? I can tell by how you move your other hand you've been doing it a long time."
While it's not the first time someone's known what the craft is, it was the coolest instance. He said he used to latch-hook with his aunt when he was younger. Anyway, I just thought it was really cool :)
acquired a barely started rug that had an old storage smell i just could not abide. i put it in the tub with lukewarm water + mild detergent to clean. realized immediately the stiff fabric went totally limp. gah! is there some way to stiffen the backing again so i can finish the rug? i can't imagine working it all floppy. and/or will it stiffen up upon drying? lastly, can i somehow freshen the yarn bundles or is that a bridge too far? rug approx 2.5" x 3.5". thanks latch hook gurus!
I’m talking the design, mapping it on the canvas, selecting and cutting the yarn. I’d like to do a custom one of an old pier where I used to live. Anyone do one totally from scratch? Would love to hear tips and tricks- and see pics! My design would have water, beach, sun and the pier of course. I like simple solid ones but figuring out how to give the sand and sea some texture as well. I’m particularly interested in how you designed it and which software, tips on cutting yarn so it’s consistent, and mapping it all to the canvas. Sorry if my terms aren’t correct!
Can someone please explain latch hook to me like I'm a toddler? I have watched so many videos and tutorials and cannot seem to get it. Thanks in advance.
Hey all, I recently got a Dexter Wool Cutter off eBay, and I'm trying to find a non-vintage source of blades for it. I tried standard double edged razor blades (despite the warning in the instructions) and had some limited success, but if there's any tension on the yarn going in, the blade tears and the whole thing jams. Has anyone found a better solution?
Just got done with this big boy! I bought it and started a few squares in 2020, then got bored and finally decided to finish it at the start of this year.
I've heard you're technically supposed to do line by line starting at the bottom, but I don't prefer it that way.
I am a crochet person who just recently got into mending knit materials when one of my favorite cardigans somehow got a hole in the shoulder. I managed to fix it with a crochet hook, yarn needle, and a stitch marker to hold loose loops in place, but all the knit mending videos I see online use latch hooks, and it looks way easier than how I did it.
Now I'm thinking of attempting to mend some holes in some of my favorite shirts. Obviously, this is quite a leap in scale, and I don't think I could get away with using my crochet tools again, despite being in possession of some very small hooks.
Can anyone recommend any latch hooks that would work on the scale of standard t-shirt material/sewing thread? Or should I just try to muddle through with a sewing needle? I know from my initial searching that they make latch hooks for use with dreds, beadwork, & embroidery, so I thought maybe something this tiny wouldn't be too much to ask for. Thoughts?
My mother latched these in the 70's, love them ❤️
Started on this lemon 🍋 pillow today. My niece teaches 3rd grade and her classroom theme is “lemons”, so this one is for her.
I am almost up to the black outline now, worked on it most of the day.
I am loving the pre-finished pillow and rug kits!
Hello!! I have finally finished my first latch hook since I was a child and I’m ecstatic for how it turned out!! It was a passion my great grandmother introduced me to, however. She did all the binding for the edges and sealed up the back for me as I was a little one. She’s long since passed. Any tips tricks and hints to help me out would be greatly appreciated thank yall 💙💙
I started work on this kit, Craftways 134761 Love Birds, maybe 10 years ago. I lost the bottom half of the pattern. How can I replace the missing part of the chart, or somehow recreate it?
Top half chart - the bottom was printed on a separate piece of paper
How do I make a custom pattern? I want to make a pillow for my trans child using a picture like this but I don't know how to transfer it to a pattern. Then how that pattern relates to correct size canvas... Does that make sense? Any help would be appreciated!
Do you like patterns with lots of confetti? My current project is a large 27" x 40" elephant and the majority of the pattern is very scattered with 19 colors. I had to replace the printed canvas with a blank one since the print was way too skewed and would be even more confusing. This one is going to take awhile 😆 I am using a cross stitch pattern tracker to keep track of my stitches.
I’m new to latch hooking so sorry if it’s a dumb question. But a lot of the time when I’m trying to make a knot it takes me like 7 or 8 tries, because parts of the yarn will get caught in the latch hook causing me to not be able to make the knot. It feels like it’s really slowing down the whole process but maybe I just don’t know.
I feel dumb, I bought my first latch hook kit off Amazon, it's a circle. I didn't go in any specific order and kind of just did it in small sections putting the colors on as I saw them/didn't really follow the guide closely. Now that I am almost done, I realize I messed up because I am out of a color I still need. Two questions:
