I has got socks

I'm allergic to latex, which means I'm allergic to elastic, which means I'm allergic to commercial socks.

This pair is knit in CoBaSi DK on size 5 circs. The silk in CoBaSi is so nice on my feet.

Edit: pic didn't load first time.

How to deal with color change/yarn ends in the edge of the steek?

Hi all - my colorwork cardigan pattern has the BOR on the left side of the steek. This means all my yarn ends live there. I have some gaps where the yarn changes occur and I wondering how is the best way to secure ends close to the steek? I will be reinforcing with a sewing machine, so I’m hoping a can just sort of sew the ends down and trim to hide them in the steek behind the button band. Any recommendations or video examples of sometime doing this?

Remake in a beautiful yarn

I am remaking one of my own knits for a lovely relative. The photo isn’t the best but hopefully shows the detail well enough for now! I’m loving this colour and thinking I’ll have to make myself something in it in future.

Pattern is my own - raglan sleeve knit flat (bottom up). The yarn is drops safran which I also used for mine.

I've been busy knitting Christmas gifts ... why is there still so much family left when it's almost November? Yikes!

Any reason why I couldn't do an afterthought steek with no steek column?

I'm thinking of turning the Ingrid Sweater pattern by Petite Knit into a cardigan by steeking and adding a button band, but I'm not sure I want to commit to the idea. I might want to keep it as a sweater. I know traditionally I'd intentionally add a few stockinette stitches while knitting in the round to have a steek column ready to go. Is there any reason why I wouldn't be able to just omit the band of stockinette? I'd be steeking directly into the cables and ribbing of the motif, but I was thinking I would knit the button band before i cut and therefore it should be stable enough.

Thoughts? Advice?

Yell by Marie Wallin WIP

I’m working my way through this gorgeous cardigan, using the angelic 3 ply from Sunday Knits dyed myself with assorted acid dyes. I’m feeling a bit stumped on how to handle the hem, so I was hoping the creative talented folks here might have some suggestions for me to look into while I wait for my main colors (smoke & bone) to arrive in the mail. The pattern has a few rows of moss stitch but I don’t know if I love the look of that, and it doesn’t seem like enough to stop the edge from curling up after wearing a bit on a lot of other knitters’ projects. Other options I have considered and vetoed already are an icord bind off (not enough to prevent rolling) and knitting a facing and folding it under (the bottom colorwork band has my favorite floats and I don’t want to cover them!) Currently I’m leaning towards some kind of knitted on trim. Maybe a cable? A double knit band? Any other suggestions I haven’t thought of? TIA!

Pattern question

First time knitting from a chart. I'm doing the scalloped edge. Once I finish thw pattern (the 8 rows) I'm supposed to repeat it. But at the end of 8 rows I have 12 stitches on the pattern. And the first row takes 16 stitches. I don't know what to do.

Color chart tool that automatically numbers how many stitches in a row?

Hi friends! I've heard that some color charts show you the number of adjacent stitches of the same color in a row (like the final stitch's box will say 8 if you have 8 of the same color adjacent to each other in a row), to help make it easier to count stitches for long stretches of the same color. Does anyone know of a stitch chart tool that does this automatically? Or do you know how people typically make those charts (or can you tell me the designer name of someone who formats their charts like this, as I can't remember who does it right now)? I think it sounds super helpful and haven't been able to find this feature in my searching for charting tools yet!

First thing I've made that I could post here..

This is the first thing I've made that I feel I can post here. The pattern is from ravelry- Sestina Pullover and the yarn is Palette in coriander heather. It's the first fingering weight sweater I've made

Polar bear!

I love stranded colorwork and have always wanted to knit a Dale of Norway sweater, so that's what I'm doing. I just hope this winter is a cold one so I can wear it often.

Favorite wool yarn that does not pile

I am still newish to identifying a high quality wool yarn from a lesser quality. What are the things you look for when deciding on a wool yarn for a project? I have used cascade 220 and loved working with it, but it piles a lot with repeated wear. Can anyone recommend a brand or identifying features for something that will stand up a little better?

Thanks!

Edit: Wow!!! Thank you all so much for taking the time to write thoughtful comments with great advice and recommendations! 🥰 This is so helpful!
