Saw an ad on social media for MadeMe as an alternative to Etsy and signed up for a year at the discounted price of £25. Anyone else on there?
I'm starting my row with ch3 and slipping into the 3rd chain to connect the row. I'm doing it how I was taught but there's a strange gap that I can't figure out. the pattern is for a bag so once there's some weight on the weave it stretches it out and it shows a line of noticeable gaps.
it looks like the chain isn't being secured properly but I'm doing everything right as far as I can tell.
Hey all! I’m going to make this blanket next but not sure on what colours to use. Any suggestions?
hi guys. i have just done my first tapetstry pattern and it came out really great. Im trying to find more free patterns but the ones i find are not written out. They usually just show a picture and coloured squares. I like when the pattern is written out like the picture i have attached.
I made a gift for a friend (we'll call her Sam) after she asked me for one since she loved the little things I make. I've made her a couple gifts in the past and she's loved all of them. She posted it on Facebook with a little thank you as the caption and somebody that we both know (we'll call her Jane) commented on it.
Jane: Funny how we're all different. I'd give this back before I put it in the bin 😂
Sam: Why?!
Jane: I sure as shit would put that in the bin haha. I hate tat
Sam: You bloody misery! OP made it for me! It's lovely!
I put a lot of time and effort into what I make, even the small little things I make as gifts for people who want them. I just feel as though there was no need to comment if you don't like it? Am I wrong for feeling that way?
I'm posting this on an anon account even though I know if Sam sees it, she'll know it's me. Also, I've known both of these people for 5 years
I love these so thought I’d share them with you all 🥰 I’ve made a few and they’re stunning on my table! 😍 They’re poinsettia coasters by Mumsy makes crochet. Going to make a few of these for Christmas gifts for my mum too 🥰🎄🧶 Link in the comments if you want to make them. It’s a free tutorial on YouTube but there is a written pattern too 🧶
My nephew is 3 and loves playing shop with wooden toys. I've picked up a few wooden sets for him but I also wanted to make a soft crochet bag like the one I use for fruit and veg. I've looked about but I'm having no luck finding something suitable for a young child.
ideally I'd like a smaller version of what I use but I'm worried about the holes being safe, but I don't want to do a solid side bag for the wooden fruit and veg bag either. Does anyone know of a pattern that could work for me?
Does anyone have a ball of Robin Paintbox Splash super chunky in Hurricane, Quartz or Jungle they'd be willng to part with? Happy to pay plus postage. I played yarn chicken and I lost...
Hi all, I'm an absolute beginner and honestly completely clueless. I've been gifted a couple of stitch and story hello kitty x pusher amigurumi kits and would love to be able to do them. I can do basic knitting but that's all lol. Is anyone able to translate this into dummy terms? I've looked up videos and abbreviations etc but it's not getting through to me. Also left handed if that's any help lol. I've made a magic ring (I think) so far but now I'm stuck!
Hey everyone. Wondering where you all get your wool? I went through a tough time in February and my way of getting through it was to learn to crochet blankets and donate them to the place that helped. Back then I was able to find bundles of yarn on eBay for a reasonable price. After a bit of a break, I am back to making the blankets for the charity that I donated to previously. Yet, I cannot for the life of me seem to find yarn for a reasonable price anywhere! Where do you suggest is the best place? Ideally as cheap as possible or worth the money I.e a job lot of wool. Thank you!
Hi all - I've been making a baby blanket and was using up some scraps that I've had for quite a while. I went with a stripe and was progressing well.
I realised I'd need an extra ball of yarn, so looked online and decided to get a couple balls off ebay as it was cheapest and I didnt want to spend the usual £30 that I spend on wool websites to get free postage. The brand was Stylecraft Special DK.
It's arrived and is exactly the same colour (perfect) but an entirely different texture. It works up much smaller than the previous (despite being the same brand and style/weight etc) as the other yarn I used. This one is really soft (not complaining) - whilst the older stuff had a more textured feel almost.
People are saying I'm mad, but it's winding me up that they're not the same. They feel different to crochet with!
I feel like I am going mad having to ask if theres such thing as fake yarns - but you never know!
I've tried James C Brett Flutterby (sheds and you can't close a magic ring or frog it), and Lion Brand Vel Lux (so slippery I couldn't work with it). Does anyone have any suggestions what brand I should try next?
My sister is due a baby in December and she’s having a girl!!!! She’s over the moon and so I’ve made her little girl something cute as I showed you before but now I’m going to make this blanket! What do you think? It’s a free pattern by Mumsy makes crochet. She has the written pattern and the video 😍🧶🧶🧶
Hi, i was wondering if anyone could help clear up an understanding of pattern for me.The pattern is for a bralette:
For the bust to the left side it tells me: to work 152 sc evenly across long edge. Turn.
Then for the left side: 1st row:Ch 1, 1 sc in each of first 66 sts. Working in back loops only, 1 sc in each of next 20 sts. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked. 86 sts for Left Side.
86 + 66 would leave me with the 152 stitches i have but im comfused with the 20 stitches. If i work the 66 stitches + 20 back loop stitches it'd leave me with only 66 stitches left which the pattern says 86.This is the pdf to the pattern if it'll help: https://www.yarnspirations.com/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-master-catalog-spinrite/default/dw2d8c59b1/PDF/BRC0129-030529M.pdf(bernat crochet festival bralette) I'm following the measurments in green.
I am somewhat of a beginner and I am learning how to crochet from YouTube. I have found lots of projects that I want to work on but they all require acrylic wool. I don't want to use acrylic because im trying to be conscious of plastic usage so I've tried to substitute it with cotton/Bamboo/ a blend.
I've bought LOADS of wool thinking that I've gotten the weight right but because the cotton yarns are thinner than acrylic I'm not sure what to do. I imagine my cotton crochet projects won't look the same as the YouTube results (and I want it to look exactly like that).
Can anyone suggest what I should do? Would cotton yield the same results as acrylic? Or will there be larger holes etc? Will I need to use acrylic if I want the same results as the YouTube videos?

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on some Hayfield Bonus Super Chunky wool in black or white? It seems to be sold out everywhere? I’m in the middle of a jumper and I’ve just ran out of wool!
Hey guys!
I have an idea (one admittedly I saw someone do in America or somewhere online) but I want to make a big community patchwork blanket, I thought I would see if there’s any interest before planning it?
Essentially it would just mean making a granny square / square of any stitch or pattern- any colour, any style in a decided size and sending it to me (logistics will need to be worked out) and I could put it all together? I just thought It might be a nice thing to do and I just love the idea of having it be a community thing? If a few people want to do it / have their own maybe even trade / swap squares?
Any thoughts / ideas welcome I just wanted to get an idea of interest.
When crocheting in HDC FLO/BLO do you pull up one loop, yarn over and do the remaining two or do you do two loops yarn over two loops yarn over. Attempting the waffle stitch. Something I’ve never liked or been able to do lol!
