East Cleveland or Warren?

I used to live in Lima Ohio when I was in my early teens but ended up moving now I might plan on going back to Ohio but I have my eye on moving to East Cleveland or Warren as they seem very cheap rent, I never been to northeast Ohio what is it like and I realize both of these towns are some of the most dangerous in the country but honestly I’m not too worried, I just want to know which one saves me the most money and overall what is the better of the two?

What’s the average salary for lead bartenders outside of large cities?

I (40f) just moved to Gallia Co from a large city on the west coast. I have about 18 years experience bartending with a lot of management mixed in. What is the going hourly rate for a lead bartender here? My previous city’s min wage is wayyyy higher than here and I don’t want to ask for too much, or too little. I have assisted in opening multiple bars over the years. I’m about to negotiate pay for consulting + lead bartender for a sports bar that is still under construction. Any advice would be much appreciated

Can the city of Columbus refuse to hire you if you smoked weed in the past?

The city of Columbus, in the past, wanted you to be at least 5 years clean of marijuana before being hired (depending on the city-job). Since it’s legal now, can they refuse to hire you if your tests come up clean but have indulged within the past 5 years?

Verizon home internet

Is it worth a try?

We don't work from home but I still don't want something that constantly buffers while I try to watch TV.

We're in the south end of Columbus, so not a super populated area. I'm nervous because it's still relatively new for Verizon.

Serious question: should the original Toledo strip be reapportioned to Michigan?

Since there is seemingly no end to the gerrymandering in our state, should Toledo and the original disputed strip be reapportioned to Michigan? What are the advantages/disadvantages of such a move? Do you think there is any support for redrawing state lines?

Farmer BS

This might be an unpopular post but….

Is anyone else tired of the “struggling farmers” narrative? I live in rural NW Ohio. I know probably 50 farmers. Not a one is struggling. A ton of them just remodeled or built new houses. A bunch have brand new trucks. And all I hear about in the media is how they are struggling. I’ve been around enough to know their fortune can indeed change on one bad growing season. But let’s be honest, that’s not even as likely between crop insurance and subsidies.

If you were in charge of tourism for your hometown, where would you suggest people go?

This may be difficult for some of us from smaller towns, but try to do your best with what you got!

Ohio venders license

When i opened my business a year ago on my vendors license I wrote the wrong letter for the suite. Instead of O I wrote P. Now I need to change it because the address don't match. It's very important for me to change it as fast as possible. How easy is it to do? Do i use the Ohio gateway portal?

Looking for people to start board gaming with near Marion, Oh.

We are late 30’s couple who recently have got into board gaming. We would love to find others in general area to play with! We are pretty easy to get along with. We are alcohol friendly, and while we have no issues with 420, due to our work and drug testing we cannot partake.

Are there any game groups in the area, or anyone interested in trying to start one?

OAE 007 Licensure Exam (teaching)

Hello! I am taking the OAE assessment on friday for biology. Here's my problem: I purchased both the Right Start study program and a practice test. The right start stuff is very easy, all the practice questions seem reflective of what I would teach students. The practice test, however, is very difficult and I don't know which one is more accurate to the true nature of the test. I noticed the practice test has a copyright of 2013 and the right start seems newer, but idk.

Have the licensure tests gotten significantly easier since 2013? Here are free test questions offered by the pearson website (also with a 2013 copyright): https://preprod.ccis.oh.es.pearson.com/CONTENT/STUDYGUIDE/OH_SG_SRI_007.htm . These are very similar to the practice test i purchased. do these seem way harder than the actual test or about the same? thank you thank you

Vocational rehabilitation with two degrees. What to expect?

Hey everyone,

I'm a 5th year PhD student in Experimental Psychology who also earned an MA in Experimental Psychology from a different university. I have a BS in Psychology as well.

I'm posting here since, despite a May 2025 graduation date on paper, there's a lot of factors that lead me to reasonably expect not graduating by then (if at all). I want to work with vocational rehabilitation to find a job in Ohio. What should I expect as I get further into this process? I already did what they asked by registering on OhioMeansJobs and creating a secure messaging account.

Also, one thing I was told by my VR counselor is that they have a "back door" to state level jobs. This is a big deal since I applied for a state job about a month and a half ago, ended up being 1 out of 3 who passed a competency test, and unfortunately was not selected after I made it to the final interview. It was for a social science research analyst position, which is a class of jobs Ohio offers that I'm interested in right now. I'm more than willing to use the "back door" for another attempt at getting a social science research analyst position personally. How does that work as well? Quick side note that this position would use both my BS and MA degrees and I don't need my PhD for it at all.

Cabins with trails

I’m looking to book a cozy cabin for my birthday weekend in Jan. I want a location that is either in a park with hiking trails, or very close to one. Any suggestions? I live in Cuyahoga Falls but willing to drive up to 4 hours. Doesn’t have to be in Ohio either, PA or WV works too.

TIA!
