Commissioner said today that the chicken place pulled out of the project in the old bookstore
I know there are tons of charitable organizations in Athens, can anyone recommend any volunteer opportunities or events coming up in the next few weeks? Thanks!
For those who didn’t know- don’t get in the pickup line at the new chipotle IF YOU DIDNT GET A NOTIFICATION THAT YOUR ORDER WAS READY FOR PICKUP. The whole purpose of the drive thru is to get orders out fast and if you’re sitting at the window waiting for them to make your order, you’re holding up people with orders that are ready!
Hi folks, where would you suggest getting a real Christmas tree? The ones at Lowe’s and Tractor Supply are stupidly expensive. any ideas?
According to IG and Google.
I've read Octavia Butler's Parable of the Sower before, but want to read it again, this time with others also interested in science fiction, afrofuturism, speculative fiction.
See more about it here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/52397.Parable_of_the_Sower
I'm hoping to get together a small group of people to read it, reflect, talk, and basically just help process what to do next as the inauguration approaches. All are welcome! know that i'm reading this with a revolutionary, abolitionist perspective to it. very antifa stuff
DM, chat, or comment here if you're interested! Thinking of mtg once before the new year, but reading together in earnest come January.
So be it, see to it!
I'm trying to get together with some friends to make music but my apartment is really strict on noise at all hours. Is there anywhere (inexpensive) I could potentially rent out regularly to play at.
hello!! im on hard times and trying to find places to get food any way possible. are there good grocery/restaurant places to hunt at that're unlocked/free access within the city?
sorry if its a weird question for this sub but trying it out!
edit: thank you for all the assistance everyone!! my food stamps have come in at long last so im more secure now. ive taken all these into account and will use them going forward!!
Has anyone heard anything strange about the owners of the Zenner house or the property itself? I recently went to an event there and something was up… anyone know something interesting about it? Rumors or anything at all? Getting a weird vibe
Does anyone living in the Athens area drive to Columbus for work? If so how is the drive, and do you eventually get used to it?

DETROIT -- Parker Navarro ran for two touchdowns and passed for two more and Ohio beat Miami (OH) 38-3 in the Mid-American Conference championship game played at Ford Field on Saturday.
Anthony Tyus III rushed for 151 yards and a score on 27 carries to help the Bobcats (10-3) win their first MAC championship game in six appearances since the title game was introduced in 1997.
I'm looking for a DO in the Athens area for osteopathic manipulation and am open to suggestions and good/bad experiences that people have had with local providers! Does anyone have experience with Drs Booker and Williams at OhioHealth? Or anyone else that you can recommend? Are there any providers to avoid?
Are there any options for ice skating in the area since Bird Arena is closed? Thanks.
It's hard to believe that it's THAT easy to con somebody in Athens City Hall into sending $721,976 to a random back account. Do they not do ANY training at all? People really need to be fired over this kind of incompetence. And there's no WAY a lawsuit is going to get money back from North Korea, China, or Russia (the top players in that con).

If the one over by East State is closed, is the one in the West side park the only one left?
Is there a legal code within Athens specifically that specifies an apartment must be kept to a certain temp in the winter?
I rent an apartment that is part of a house divided into three separate apartments and while there is heating, I do not control the thermostat as it is in my neighbors apartment. It is fine when the heat is actually blowing, but once it reaches temp and kicks off it is freezing. My toes are numb, my fingers are hard to move, I am sleeping under 4 thick blankets every night and still shaking (unfortunately, not sleeping due to the cold). I bought two digital thermometers that will be here Wednesday to be able to keep track of how cold it is and be able to take photos to send to my landlord. you can feel the cold coming in through the windows in the bedroom when you put your hands up to the “seals”. I can’t find anything on laws specifically for Athens, so was looking to see if anyone had any insight!
Hello, my parents live here and are hesitant but considering adopting a cat, their biggest hang up being having difficulty finding a reliable sitter when they go out of town a couple times a year. If anyone knows someone solid, preferably with a reference, it would be much appreciated!
Aight fam, who are we using for window replacement round here? Fixing up an old house and we’re getting close to this step. Googling didn’t give me anything satisfactory. Who’s your recommendation?
Hello All!
We have moisture building up in our attic and I wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations on a contractor to fix the issue? It definitely is a ventilation issue, no leaks.
Thoughts?
This was just dropped off at my house. Are we really doing this NIMBY bullshit in Athens? In the middle of a national housing crisis?
Deputies were called to Circle Drive, New Marshfield for an incident report. The caller stated that two dogs had entered the Emu’s pen and were chasing her Emu. The Emu was able to escape the dogs but in doing so got free from the pen. Deputies and Dog Wardens were able to locate the Emu on a nearby property. Deputies and Wardens attempted multiple times to catch the Emu. After many failed attempts the Emu was cornered into a fence and was captured. A neighbor helped by loading the Emu into the bed of his truck and driving the Emu back to his pen. The Emu was not harmed or injured. The Emu was giving a warning for Fleeing and Eluding law enforcement officers. Units returned to patrol. Emu Fact: Emus on average are 5'7' tall and 125 pounds. While escaping danger an emu can run up to 30 miles per hour and have amazing stamina. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/GcLq54kLTSAi6VpL/
