He has been playing well but I do feel like he’s getting a little frustrated about his production so far.

Something Ive noticed about his game is that when he beats guys 1v1 and has a path to the net he will opt (sometimes settle it seems) for the quick shot on the goalie rather than taking the puck a few more strides to the net and trying to finish there. Don’t get me wrong he has a great shot and we’ve seen him beat goalies with this shot but a lot of goalies are too good to beat straight on like that. Guys like Fantilli who have elite speed and skating can add 10ish goals a year if they can finish around the net when they’ve beaten their defender which he does often.

It’s the same criticism I’ve seen Islanders fans have with Barzal, they say if he would just take the puck to the net sometimes he would go from an 70-80 point guy to a 90 point player.

He’s fine and his points and goals will come no doubt but that’s just one thing I’d like to see him add to his game in the future so he can maximize his talent and become the 90+ point 1C we all want him to be.

He is no longer wearing a sling on his left shoulder. He’s made good progress while out injured.

Waddell says “He’s not going to be back in two weeks, but it’s not going to be two months, either.”

This is much better than most of us expected I think. Hopefully he’s back before the New Year!

I feel like Vader in The Empire Strikes Back when Luke escapes the carbon-freezing chamber trap when I say the Jackets have been “impressive… most impressive.” According to moneypuck.com, the Jackets’ line of Sean Monahan between Kirill Marchenko and Yegor Chinakhov has the best expected goals percentage in the entire NHL. Yes, better than Draisaitl-McDavid-Hyman, whom they beat 6-1.

I realize we are only 9 games in, and this team could just be starting hot and playing for Johnny and our shooting percentage and offensive xG will surely regress… but let’s see what the early numbers look like compared to last year.

I know we will probably tail off at some point, just getting to April or even just the trade deadline and having a mathematical chance of making the playoffs would be a monumental success for this team.

Thank god the team is decent this year and Waddell and Evason are here now, such a breath of fresh air.

We draft these kids and then I don’t hear about em for years! How can I keep track of how they’re doing? For Gavin, a Google search provided very little info on where he’s at (I assume monsters), so I don’t know how to really know what’s going on myself, I depend on podcast and discussion here to inform me.

We have to be loud tomorrow! We are on a hot streak going up against the best team in the NHL points-wise. Toronto was able to beat them after they got smoked by us, I know we can do this. If you're going to be there, let's get loud!
