What’s going on with student support at sports events this year. It’s been really sad seeing no students on the hill this year at soccer games. 2 years ago was electric.
I got three extra tickets to the Akron U vs Xavier soccer game tonight at 7:00 pm (in the main stands at mid-field 4th row). Just meet me at the gate and walk in. FREE!
Two questions…
Number one: what are the dimensions of a grad cap?
Number two: WE CAN DECORATE THEM RIGHT? (Please say yes)
This specific charging station is the one on the first floor nearest the elevators. I plugged my phone into it and placed it in the tray and noticed that my phone wouldn't slide freely when I pushed it to position it better into the tray. People suck and many have a high school maturity level around here. Check the condition of everything that is public use before you attempt to use it around here. Luckily some soap and warm water removed all the gum residue from my phone but dang, people suck man.
Thanks.

As a student at the University of Akron, I am already stretched thin by the financial pressures of pursuing higher education. With tuition costs hovering around $20,000 per year, every dollar counts. On top of this, the recent privatization of our parking facilities has led to U Akron Park charging an additional $500 annually just for commuter parking. This extra expense is significant, and it’s time for a change. The average college student graduates with roughly $30,000 in debt, often balancing multiple jobs to make ends meet. Adding exorbitant parking fees to this burden feels unnecessarily harsh. We shouldn’t have to face steep parking costs on top of tuition and loans.
With this petition, we call on the University of Akron and U Akron Park to reassess their parking fee policies and work towards reducing these charges. Our campus should be accessible to all students, not just those who can afford inflated parking fees. We urge the University to recognize the financial challenges students face and take immediate action to relieve this unnecessary strain. Please sign this petition to support the reduction of parking fees at the University of Akron.
Hi. I am a transfer student from Kent, 21f. I am a social work major. I am a junior. The only reason I transferred to this school was because they gave me a half-tuition scholarship and they actually had the major I wanted, and it actually had some job prospects. I have a boyfriend who I live with and we recently got a puppy too. He’s a lot of work, but he’s my baby. I am only 5 weeks in, and I feel like I am regretting my decision. My professors are okay, but not very approachable if I’m being honest. The whole campus gives me utilitarian vibes, especially with all the concrete. I am living in an apartment off campus and I am broke already, despite saving. I am working 2 jobs. One, is on the weekends and the other is on weekdays on-campus. I haven’t had the time to put myself out there or make friends, and I am stretching myself out already. I really feel like I need to talk to someone about this or I am literally going to lose it. All I do is wake up, go to school, go to work and go to bed. I find myself reminiscing about my old school and how much more freedom and happiness I had a mere 2 years ago. I have found myself crying myself to sleep most nights. I feel a lot of it has to do with how lonely I feel now. Does Akron offer any counseling services for students? Any advice?

hey all -
so there is a microwave in Bierce that suffers from a lack of power (9 minutes of warming, anyone?). That I know of, there are two in the student union.
so, any other microwaves on campus!?
I have fentanyl test strips, ask and ye shall receive, no questions asked or answered.
I opted out of the book bundle after paying my tuition, as all of the books were covered by my tuition. It went back into my balance in workday as unapplied payments, partially as scholarships and the rest as my online payment. Who do I talk to on campus to see about getting a refund for the 300 some dollars I paid?
Looking for someone to takeover my lease at university edge. It’s $600 a month and It Ends on July 31st! Pm me or message here thank you!
Has anyone heard anything about tuition reimbursement/refund checks? I use the money to pay rent and other necessary expenses outside of tuition and books and I'm really concerned about whether or not I'll be able to pay upcoming expenses.
wtf this this crepe from Freshens? Could barely cut through it and it was so chewy. More like a quesadilla with Nutella than a crepe.
Iz Bach to rock with Christoper Coles proctored?
Is it just me, or have others still not had all of their financial aid disbursed. Some of mine has disbursed, but not all. I still show a subsidized loan, an unsubsidized loan and a Parent Plus loan that have not disbursed. The dates they are supposed to disburse keep changing. I have been on the chat which is zero help. I have called and been told there’s nothing holding mine up and that it’s just taking longer than usual. It’s frustrating and this is money for my rent and bills.
Why tf is the wifi in exchange so bad I’ve had to use my hotspot all week
Hi! I’m a transfer student and I’m interested in getting an on-campus job during the week. I have applied to every job I can on handshake, given my resume out to ample people during the on-campus job fair, and have been trying to ask around in person. I don’t qualify for federal work study or any of those programs. I’ve had my resume looked at by career advisors and it looks good. I’ve had various customers service jobs and receptionist positions. I just want to make some money and not have to rely on my savings. Thanks!
Does anyone else feel the same? It destroys my stomach over time.
Do yall know about us?
Literally all I wanna do is check my DPR for the love of god. Am I doing something wrong?
Does anyone know if the Akron soccer club is competitive to Join. I played soccer in middle school and tryna get back into it. Do u need experience to join the club?
So I just got my car today and don't have a parking permit. I won't be able to buy one until the 30th and everyone went home for the day. Does anyone know if there is a place to park where I won't get fined? I start Monday

Hey all, just wanted to put a PSA out there and see if anyone else is having a similar experience -
Book bundle is supposed to save us 30-50%. The whole campus is automatically opted in. We can’t pick and choose which classes - it’s either fully in, or fully out, cold turkey. Charging per credit hour with my class load this semester, it comes out to $350+.
In assessing the book list myself, I am able to get all of my books through fully legal and alternative routes for around $180.
The school/Barnes and Nobel is making a big deal about how this program is so easy because it can be paid for with loans and scholarships, but that is still money you are paying in the end.
Finally, since they are charging roughly $20 per credit hour, pls pls check and make sure you actually have text books required in your classes. I helped a friend figure out their book list on the bookstore website only to discover there was no books listed for any of her classes but the Akron All In Book Bundle had still charged her $217.
...for nothing.
So, I encourage people to opt out if they can or at the very least, check and make sure being opted in makes sense for you!
Apparently there is currently an IT issue that is keeping the book bundle charges from being reimbursed - charges that were immediately posted on 7/25, might I add - a full four days before students had the option to opt out.
Hopefully this will all be sorted - my friend and I did some rough math. U of A has 11,000+ students. If the average student is charged $250 for books, it comes out to $2.75 million. Barnes and Nobel has created a automatic, per semester monopoly pipe line for cash flow - no competition unless the student works really hard to create it.
...so, the more you know! Check your financials! Make sure it is the right choice for you! Thx
What happened to the fountains in the commons? Haven’t worked since like 2021.
Anybody know when summer grades will be on our transcripts????
Workday, Stellic, the entirety of "New MyAkron" sucks ass. Why did they feel the need to go from one site to host everything to so many unnecessary extra sites. There is no way they will have every issue ironed out by the start of this semester. I guess Ill get some migraine medication to prepare.......
